Yoga Training Video Suites
Pitch
04/19/19 - 04/22/19

Create a suite of long-form yoga workout videos that share the life-changing benefits of yoga with new audiences and encourage them to make yoga a regular part of their routine.

lululemon was the first brand to bring yoga to the (Western) masses, and yoga informs everything they make and do. We want to bring that pioneering spirit to a suite of NINE (9) long-form workout videos (three workouts per ambassador) to create useful, accessible, and disruptive workouts that will be universally available on lululemon’s YouTube channel and will instill in viewers a passion for yoga and a desire to practice with lululemon again and again.

What’s the first word or feeling that comes to mind when you think of yoga? Relaxed? Challenged? Connected? Or maybe yoga makes you think of yuppies, your own limitations, or, if you’re a guy, an activity meant for women – and not you.

Perhaps surprisingly, a lot of people share negative stereotypes of yoga – it’s for yuppies, I’m not strong enough, it’s for girls – and that means they’re missing out on a myriad of benefits that regular yoga practice can bring to their lives.

In actuality, yoga is a powerful tool that unleashes the full potential in every one of us. Yoga can enhance your athletic performance, help you recover from injury, focus your mind, inspire your creative pursuits, and make you stronger all around.

And that’s where Tongal comes in. We’re looking for one talented, organized, and experienced filmmaker/production team to bring to life a suite of NINE (9) long-form yoga workout videos led by lululemon ambassadors to make yoga more approachable and relevant for everyone. You’ll work with lululemon ambassadors to create content that builds on the principles of yoga and educates on the many benefits of a regular yoga practice to create accessibility and redefine lululemon as the premiere yoga brand and platform built for all to enjoy and benefit from.

Working with THREE (3) unique lululemon yoga ambassadors you’ll create THREE (3) suites of workout videos (one suite per ambassador):

  • 3x 20-minute yoga workouts (1 per ambassador) (YouTube and lululemon.com)
  • 3x 30-minute yoga workouts (1 per ambassador) (YouTube and lululemon.com)
  • 3x 45-minute yoga workouts (1 per ambassador) (YouTube and lululemon.com)
  • 1x Series Teaser Video (:03s–:15s) (YouTube and lululemon.com)
  • 10x Thumbnails (1 per video + teaser thumbnail)
  • 1 YouTube End Card
  • 1x :06s Bumper video for paid media (YouTube)
  • 1x :15s Bumper video for paid media (YouTube)
  • 30 Stills (10 per ambassador)
  • 3x Social Packages (1 per ambassador) - a combination of unique videos and stills to be shared on personal channels
  • You will need to provide a shot list for each video asset. Please do not treat the paid media assets or series trailer as “cut-downs.”

Read on for more.

The goal of this project is to create THREE (3) suites of long-form yoga workout videos to redefine yoga as a universally accessible and approachable practice with a myriad of benefits and encourage viewers to workout with lululemon on YouTube.

Please Note: By participating in this Open Bid project, creators acknowledge that the Sponsor is under no obligation to select a winning Bid. Though most Open Bid projects on our platform do move forward with a selected Bid, we will notify you in the event the Sponsor decides not to award any Bids via the Project Forum. Regardless of the result, all Open Bid submissions will be reviewed and evaluated by the Sponsor and the Project Team.

This project involves a lot of deliverables and a tight timeline so please read this brief thoroughly.

Budget: Your bid for this project should be between $80,000–100,000. Please take the following into consideration in your budget:

  • Talent – lululemon will choose three premiere yoga ambassadors, one to lead each workout. You will not need background talent. The filmmaker will NOT be responsible for talent fees.
  • Travel – This project will involve travel to New York City.
  • Wardrobe/Props – You will need to outfit the talent in approved lululemon clothing and use lululemon gear for any props (ie yoga mats, water bottles, yoga blocks, etc.). We recommend you set aside $3,000–4,000 of your budget for these expenses to cover at least two wardrobe options per talent + props. You will also need to have a dedicated team member on set who can steam garments, keep wardrobe organized, etc.
  • Location – lululemon will provide a location free of charge
  • Photographer - You will need to provide a photographer on set.
  • Yoga Workout Designer/Writer – We advise you hire a yoga instructor to help design the workouts for the Yoga Training Videos and to work directly with the yoga ambassadors on what these workouts should entail
  • HMU – You will need to have Hair & Make-up on set
  • Filming – We strongly advise you set aside 1 day to run through the workouts with each ambassador; 2 days per ambassador to film the workouts; and 1-2 days to capture each ambassador running through the workout in an interview-style setup for VO options and pickups.
  • Video Village/VTR & Client PA – You should plan to budget for client on set costs, including VTR (preferred) or video village and a dedicated client PA or AD.
  • Post – As outlined in the Deliverables PDF in the Assets Tab, you will need to have a dedicated post team that can crank out all deliverables in a timely and efficient manner. Your post team should be well versed in various online video (OLV) and social deliverable specs.

Video Format:

  • Each ambassador will individually lead a series of THREE (3) yoga workouts (20, 30, and 45-minutes) and a how-to
  • There will only be ONE (1) ambassador featured at a time and no background talent to show levels or variations, etc.
  • Intro/Outro:
    • Intro (5–15 seconds): Cold-open style intros engage and pull in guest attention. Within this time talent must introduce themselves, state their affiliation with lululemon and land what the intention of the workout will be.
    • Outro (5–15 seconds): Must include verbal sign-off and encourage viewers to subscribe for more videos. Consider having each ambassador break the fourth wall and interact with the subscribe button, etc.

--Key Marketing Messages:

  • Tagline: the sweatlife
  • Message: Enhance your performance in all aspects of life through the practice of yoga
  • Purpose:
    • Position yoga as a powerful tool that unleashes the full potential in every one of us
    • Yoga is the practice that brings mind, body, and spirit together, connecting everything and everyone. lululemon is uniquely poised to speak authentically to all three pillars.

--Target Audience:

  • Men and women who are new to yoga
  • Men and women who have negative misconceptions about yoga and believe it’s not for them
  • Men and women who have tried yoga, but haven’t yet incorporated it into their regular routine

--Executional Mandatories:

  • Educate on the performance-enhancing ability of yoga and bring a fresh perspective to online yoga workouts.
  • Generate interest in yoga and get audience attention through workouts built on the principles of yoga
  • Provide universal access to yoga classes and make yoga accessible to anyone and everyone.
  • Must be gender neutral and accessible to all genders.

--Tone:

  • Educational, entertaining, imperfect, approachable.
  • Exciting and invigorating; your workout videos should break through deeply rooted stereotypes about the practice of yoga + who it’s for
  • NOT dry, unrelatable, or exclusive.

--Exposure:  lululemon YouTube channel, social channels, paid media, dotcom

--End Card:  An endcard template may be provided but you should be prepared to create one.

--Product: The production team will need to retain product with lululemon’s approval. Budget should be set aside for this.

This project is open bid and consists of FOUR (4) phases: a Pitch Phase, a Pre-Production Phase, a Video Phase and a Revisions Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.

PHASE 1: PITCH - This is an open bid project, so you’ll get to set your overall budget proposal. You can download the budget template here. lululemon would like the filmmaker to create NINE (9) long-form yoga workout videos and a suite of social marketing assets (outlined in the Objectives Section) with a total cost range of $80,000–100,000.

Submit your pitch (What is a Pitch Phase?) convincing the sponsor why you should be selected to execute a Video based on one of the winning Ideas from the previous Phase using:

  • Text (REQUIRED): 500 characters or less synopsizing how you plan to approach and execute this Video.

  • Links (REQUIRED): To your previous video work. Please specify your role (producer, director, cinematography, etc.) and DO NOT INCLUDE LINKS TO YOUR SHOWREEL. Please link to individual videos.

  • Treatment (REQUIRED): A detailed narrative description of what's going to happen in the video. If it's helpful to you, we've provided a Treatment template, which you can find here.

  • Script (Optional): This should include dialogue from the video you intend to create.

  • Storyboards (Optional): Additional concept art, storyboards, shot list, anything that helps get your point across. You can download the Tongal storyboard template here.

  • Pitch Video (Optional): This is your opportunity to be face-to-face with the sponsor and show them what you're capable of. Consider submitting a pitch video in which you tell the sponsor what they can expect should they choose your pitch. Also, test videos, animatic, etc. are welcome. For some examples of effective pitch videos, check out this gallery. All pitches will remain private until after the winner of the Video Phase is announced and the project is complete.

The most compelling pitch will be selected and, upon submitting the Winner’s Affidavit and the IP Assignment, will receive an advance to help create the video. Please note the payment of the pitch award is subject to a payment schedule determined by Tongal. Additionally, upon submitting a suite of videos that satisfu the criteria laid out in your winning pitch, completing sponsor notes, providing the necessary release forms, and providing all assets required by the sponsor the pitch winner will receive the remaining prizing. For examples of effective pitches, check out this gallery. All pitches will remain private until after the winner of the Video Phase is announced and the project is complete.

PHASE 2: PRE-PRODUCTION – The pitch winner will enter the Pre-Production Phase (What is a Pre-Production Phase?). During this phase, the filmmaker will need to receive the following approvals from the brand:

  • SCRIPT – This project requires Script Approval before filmmakers move onto the Video Phase. The brand may provide feedback on your script and ask you to submit a new version. There may be multiple rounds of feedback until your scripts are approved by the brand team.
  • STORYBOARD/SHOT LIST - This project requires Storyboard/Shot List Approval before filmmakers move onto the Video Phase. The brand may provide feedback on your storyboard/shot list and ask you to submit a new version of the storyboard/shot list.
  • WARDROBE - This project requires Wardrobe Approval before filmmakers move onto the Video Phase. You will need to submit descriptions and/or pictures of your cast’s wardrobe. You must submit at least two wardrobe options per role. If the brand does not approve either of your options for a role, you may be asked to submit two new wardrobe options.
  • STYLIST – This project requires Hair and Makeup Stylist Approval before filmmakers move onto the Video Phase. You must submit your planned Stylist with your pitch submission. Once chosen as a Pitch Winner, the brand may either approve your stylist or ask you to submit a new one for approval.

No filmmakers may begin shooting their video until all approvals are completed and the Video Phase has officially begun. If you begin shooting your video during the Pre-Production Phase before you have received final approval, there is a chance you will need to reshoot (at your own expense).

For your convenience we’ve provided some helpful templates to use at your discretion. They include templates for creating a Treatment, Production Budget, Storyboards, Shot List, Call Sheet, and a Music Cue Sheet.  Additionally, there are templates that will help you clearly present the sponsor cast, location, and wardrobe options. They can all be accessed here.

PHASE 3: VIDEO – Once the Pre-Production Phase is complete, the pitch winner will create THREE (3) suites of yoga training videos along with associated media, based upon their winning pitch:

  • 3x 20-minute yoga workouts (1 per ambassador) (YouTube and lululemon.com)
  • 3x 30-minute yoga workouts (1 per ambassador) (YouTube and lululemon.com)
  • 3x 45-minute yoga workouts (1 per ambassador) (YouTube and lululemon.com)
  • 1x Series Teaser Video (:03s–:15s) (YouTube and lululemon.com)
  • 10x Thumbnails (1 per Video + Teaser thumbnail)
  • 1x :06s Bumper video for paid media (YouTube)
  • 1x :15s Bumper video for paid media (YouTube)
  • 30 Stills (10 per ambassador)
  • 3x Social packages to Share with Talent (a combination of unique videos and stills to be shared on personal channels)

You will need to provide a shot list for each video asset. Please do not treat the paid media assets or series trailer as “cut-downs.”

Please upload all videos as separate submissions when submitting your videos.

--Video Phase Payout: Upon submitting videos that satisfy the criteria laid out in your winning pitch, completing sponsor notes, providing the necessary release forms, and providing all assets required by the sponsor the pitch winner will receive the final payment.

--Music: Tongal has partnered with three premiere music providers: Jingle Punks, Killer Tracks and Epidemic Sound, any of which can be used to source music for your video submission to this project. Music from these providers is available to registered Tongal members at no charge solely for their incorporation into submissions to this project and will not require a separate Music Release Form. To learn more about using each of these music providers, click on any of the provider’s names above.

Tongal members interested in a more customized music solution for your project are invited to connect with our partner Score A Score. Email a brief description of your project (timing, creative, budget, etc.), along with any specific music direction and/or references to their creative team at music@scoreascore.com and include “Tongal Project - Your Name” in the subject line. Their creative team will be in touch within a few minutes to discuss the simple process and options with you. Please note that you will be responsible for the fees associated with using Score A Score.

If you are selected as a winner and choose to use custom/original music, you must fill out and submit our Music Release Form. If you obtain music from third-party catalog providers, you must purchase the appropriate license at your own expense and submit it with your license purchase receipt when you turn in your video paperwork.
