Produce multiple series of videos - all using Orbeez - to create a steady stream of social content for Spin Master's YouTube and TikTok channels.

The one-and-only Orbeez are whacky, fun, and full of possibility! Sprinkle the seeds in water, and watch them magically transform into oh-so-satisfying, gotta-have-more, squishy, squeezy, super colorful Orbeez! The question isn't what can you do with your Orbeez. It's what CAN’T you do?!

Orbeez are so much more than just weird-feeling, oddly satisfying little beads. There are SO MANY ways to play with them! To help get kids inspired about all the different ways they can use their Orbeez, Spin Master wants you to produce several series of videos designed for YouTube and TikTok that will feed Spin Master's social channels for three months (January through March 2022). This project is a continuation of the original Orbeez Social Video Project that launched this past June, and your content should mirror the whacky and experimental tone established during the first phase of this project. You are NOT expected to use the same talent and re-create the sets, but the content itself should feel "of the same family" as what was created previously.

Check out the Background section for more information and examples of videos produced during the first phase of this project. Your pitch treatment should lay out exactly how you plan to execute each series. If greenlit, you'll be provided the title sequence and graphic transitions used in the "What If?" series of videos. For the TikTok deliverables, you should capture footage with the talent that feels native to TikTok, since the Spin Master team has found that simply reformatting a 16x9 long-form video to 9x16 does NOT perform well on TikTok. Think about having the hosts capture some selfie-style footage where we see them interacting Orbeez in a more organic and less structured way.

If you're greenlit, product will be shipped directly to you from Spin Master - but given product limitations, you may need to tailor your video ideas around what's available. Spin Master will ship the greenlit creator a large supply of Orbeez at the beginning of the project, and the expectation is that there will be enough product to last through the end of the project.

To help with your pitch, you can access Orbeez brand assets HERE. Check out more information in the Background section, and for any questions or other project updates, check out the Project Forum.

By participating in this project, creators acknowledge that the Sponsor is under no obligation to greenlight a submission. Though most projects on our platform do move forward, we will notify you in the event the Sponsor decides not to fund any submissions via the project forum. Regardless of the result, all submissions will be reviewed and evaluated by the Sponsor and the project team.

Shooting live action or stop motion? Please review our COVID-19 Production Safety Guide and check federal, state, and local rules before and during your shoot to make sure your on-set protocols are up to date. We're working hard to keep people working during this extraordinary time, and you should ensure your submission is executable within the anticipated timeline and budget, while also ensuring everyone's safety.

SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS:

Here's a breakdown of the content subjects that will comprise each batch of videos.

SERIES 1: WHAT IF? (8+ minutes)

Orbeez is all about the "What If" moment. What if I froze them and chopped them up? What if I filled my boots with Orbeez and stepped into them? What if I filled my brother's backpack full of Orbeez? What if I bounced them down my flight of stairs? This is all about experimenting with Orbeez - whacky ideas, fun, inquisitive, things to get kids laughing or wondering!

The "What If?" series should be talent-led. It doesn't need to be child talent, but it could be. The current What If? series features talent who are 17 & 18 years old, although Spin Master may want to see talent options who are slightly younger (early teens) for this phase of the project. While we envision most of the "What If?" scenarios will be shot in a studio, there could be a variety of shooting locations based on the themes.

Example Videos from Phase One of this Project:

SERIES 2: DIY WITH ORBEEZ (8+ minutes)

This is exactly what it sounds like. What sorts of crafts and fun items can you create using Orbeez? Let us show you!

The "DIY with Orbeez" series could feature the same talent that's used in the What If? series, or it could be a tabletop setup with voiceover and hand talent. You can string together two DIY projects per episode to hit the 8 minute mark.

Example Videos from Phase One of this Project:

Example Videos for Inspiration:

SERIES 3: OPPORTUNISTIC TRENDS (whatever length fits the format)

See something trending on YouTube or the Internet and think you can incorporate Orbeez? This is your opportunity! You can also use YouTube tentpole days as themes for this (like Halloween, Earth Day, etc.)

The themes for the opportunistic trend videos will be decided upon during pre-production. While the format of these videos will be dependent on the creative idea, you can expect to use a tabletop setup with hand talent and optional voiceover.

In order to be considered for this project, you must include the below materials in your pitch submission. For examples of effective pitches, check out this gallery.

  • TEXT (REQUIRED): 500 or fewer characters synopsizing how you plan to approach and execute this video.

  • TREATMENT (REQUIRED): A detailed narrative description of what's going to happen in the video. If it's helpful to you, we've provided a treatment template, which you can find here.

  • LINKS (REQUIRED): To your previous video work. Please specify your role (producer, director, cinematography, etc.) and DO NOT INCLUDE LINKS TO YOUR SHOWREEL. Please link to individual videos.

  • COVID PROTOCOL (REQUIRED): Please let us know your team’s COVID safety protocols for production. If you’re doing everything yourself, or your team will be working 100% remotely, let us know that this won’t apply. Otherwise, at the very minimum, your safety plan must include information about:
    • What city and state you plan to film in
    • Whether you are filming interiors or exteriors
    • Approximately how many people you plan to have on set
    • How you’ll account for testing, PPE, and distancing on set
    • How you’ll handle talent and backup talent, including any hair, make-up, and wardrobe needs
    • Whether you’ll have a dedicated compliance officer on set

  • HEADSHOTS/CASTING BOARDS (Optional): Casting notes or concepts, headshots of actors, etc.

  • PITCH VIDEO (Optional): This is your opportunity to be face-to-face with the Sponsor and show them what you're capable of. Consider submitting a pitch video in which you tell the Sponsor what they can expect should they choose your pitch. Also, test videos, animatics, etc. are welcome. For some examples of effective Pitch videos, check out this gallery. All Pitches will remain private until after the Sponsor gives creator(s) the green light to move forward.

The most compelling pitch will be greenlit, and the responsible creator will then receive an email from Tongal producers detailing next steps. All submitters will also receive an automated email notification that a selection has been announced. To ensure you’re receiving project updates, review your email settings to check that you haven’t unsubscribed.

Creators who’ve been selected will receive funding upon completing the Winner Affidavit and the IP Assignment. Payment of the pitch funds is subject to a payment schedule determined by Tongal. Please see the full payment schedule in the Assets section.

  • TALENT / VOICEOVER / HAND MODEL CASTING: This project requires casting approval. Tongal advocates for inclusivity in on-screen representation and diversity in casting. If the Sponsor does not approve any of your options for a role, you may be asked to submit two new actor options. Additionally, owing to the risk of disruption from COVID, you will be expected to have backup talent approved by the Sponsor in advance of production to account for any last-minute changes.

For your convenience, we’ve provided some helpful templates to use at your discretion. They include templates for creating a treatment, production budget, storyboards, shot list, call sheet, and a music cue sheet. Additionally, there are templates that will help you clearly present cast, location, and wardrobe options to the Sponsor. They can all be accessed here.
