Create slick promo videos for UFC's FIGHT PASS streaming service to introduce a new subscription option to the Japanese and Russian markets with every fight from UFC Fight Night and UFC's Pay-Per-View main cards.

UFC FIGHT PASS is the world’s premiere digital subscription service for global combat sports, and they're now preparing to launch a new subscription option in the Russian & Japanese markets that will enable subscribers to access all of the main card fights from UFC Fight Night and UFC Pay-Per-View, all for one monthly price. These are the best live events that UFC has to offer, but these fights have traditionally only been available on an individual transactional basis, so this new offering is a major value add.

UFC needs a localized video for each market to get audiences psyched about this value proposition and lay out what they can expect from UFC FIGHT PASS in their region. We expect to greenlight two creators - one per market - but are open to awarding this project to a single creator who can deliver both versions (please submit two separate pitches).

You will be responsible for language translation and localization for either Russia or Japan. UFC will provide local fighter footage relevant to each market. This project will also require some motion graphics and some animation, however, for brand consistency, you can leverage some formatting and visual design elements from this existing UFC FIGHT PASS sizzle video that was #MadeOnTongal last year. Project files for this asset can be found HERE, with more details in Background / Additional Details. We're not looking for editors to recreate that video; just use it as a foundation.

You'll need to create a :30 sample video for your pitch with the assets provided above, and any footage you'd like to pull from YouTube or what's publicly available on FIGHT PASS. Check out the messaging in Background / Additional Details, and use your video to demonstrate how you'd approach the full sizzle, including how you'd handle on-screen text, graphic treatments, transitions, platform functionality, and music for the target region. It helps if your sample video is in the local language, but if it captures the right look and feel and you prove you have the localization capabilities, it is not mandatory.

DELIVERABLES: This breakdown assumes 2 editors, each creating a video suite for their target market. *If* one filmmaker is able to create assets for both markets, they would be responsible for all 18 deliverables.

  • 9 Total Japanese Assets
    • One :60 Promo (16x9, 9x16, and 1x1)
    • One :30 Cutdown (16x9, 9x16, and 1x1)
    • One :15 Cutdown (16x9, 9x16, and 1x1)
  • 9 Total Russian Assets
    • One :60 Promo (16x9, 9x16, and 1x1)
    • One :30 Cutdown (16x9, 9x16, and 1x1)
    • One :15 Cutdown (16x9, 9x16, and 1x1)

TIMELINE: For the full project timeline please see the Assets section.

EXPOSURE:

  • In both Russia and Japan, video will live on UFC Fightpass's own streaming platform, website, and YouTube channel, and will play on other UFC Broadcast partners, and on social Media channels including Facebook and Instagram.
  • Please click here to check out the platform best practices page.

TARGET AUDIENCE: Avid fans of UFC and MMA in Russia and Japan, between the age of 18-34; about 75% male, 25% female.

TONE: Edgy, exciting, energetic, empowering, irreverent - but it's important to keep in mind that the video must still be informative and clear so viewers take away the messaging.

EXECUTIONAL MANDATORIES:

  • You are welcome to submit for BOTH markets, but you MUST then submit a separate pitch for each.
  • Assets MUST be localized for their specific markets, with text in Japanese or Russian.
  • Videos must communicate:
    • That this provides All Access to the Premier MMA promotion in the world.
    • A fully localized experience, including shots of the Russian and Japanese User Experiences, which will be provided after the Pitch Phase.
    • This includes all live UFC events, with Russian or Japanese commentary.
    • This includes all UFC Originals, localized with Russian or Japanese subtitles
    • This includes Other live combat sports from around the world.
  • You do NOT yourself need to be fluent in the language for the market you are pitching for, but you will need to include your plan for localization in your treatment, such as working with a translator, if necessary.
  • Sample submissions and final videos can use the existing project files as the foundation to build upon for the new regional content.

OPEN BID:

  • This is an open bid project, so you will get to set your own budget proposal within the $7,000-$10,000 range (per suite of regional deliverables).
  • By participating in this open bid project, creators acknowledge that the Sponsor is under no obligation to greenlight a bid. Though most open bid projects on our platform do move forward with a greenlit bid, we will notify you in the event the Sponsor decides not to fund any bids via the project forum. Regardless of the result, all open bid submissions will be reviewed and evaluated by the Sponsor and the project team.

Please note: the payment of the pitch funds is subject to a payment schedule determined by Tongal. Please see the full payment schedule in the Assets section.

PRE-PRODUCTION REQUIREMENTS: Prior to shooting, filmmakers must receive the below approvals from the Sponsor.

  • VISUAL TREATMENT: This project requires treatment approval before filmmakers can move onto the Video Phase. The treatment should describe how you plan to execute the video and how you plan to bring the storytelling to life visually. The Sponsor may provide feedback on your treatment and ask you to submit a new version. There may be multiple rounds of feedback until a treatment is approved by the Sponsor.

For your convenience, we’ve provided some helpful templates to use at your discretion. They include templates for creating a treatment, production budget, storyboards, shot list, call sheet, and a music cue sheet. Additionally, there are templates that will help you clearly present cast, location, and wardrobe options to the Sponsor. They can all be accessed here.
