Using current Nickelodeon animated shows as inspiration, create six unique short videos or still image social assets that can be used on Nickelodeon-owned social channels to celebrate Summer-centric holidays like National Burger Day, National Donut Day, Father's Day, and the First Day of Summer.

Let's be real - Summer is everyone's favorite time of year. Warm weather, vacations, eating Krabby Patties on the beach... what's not to love?! To celebrate the season, Nickelodeon is looking for engaging and thumb-stopping social content that celebrates National Burger Day (May 28), National Donut Day (June 3), Father's Day (June 19th), and the First Day of Summer (June 21st), featuring characters from current animated shows. In addition, Nickelodeon is also looking for two general summer-related posts: one featuring characters from SpongeBob SquarePants and one featuring characters from one of Nickelodeon's franchise properties (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Garfield, Avatar, and Smurfs). Nickelodeon is looking for a single talented creator to produce six unique assets - including stills or short video content - that can be used on Nickelodeon-owned social media channels. Here's specifically what the Nick team is looking for:

  • A National Burger Day (May 28th) post that would be used on the main Nickelodeon Instagram account. This account focuses on current Nickelodeon animated shows like The Loud House, The Casagrandes, and Middlemost Post. Since National Burger Day is quickly approaching, we are looking for a still image concept for this holiday. We also encourage you to think of ways to mix characters from multiple shows in your concept, since posts with lots of characters tend to perform the best. For your reference, older properties like Teenage Mutant Turtles, Garfield, or NickRewind shows (learn about NickRewind in the Background section) do not often go on this account by themselves - but they CAN be included in a wide variety or grouping of other Nickelodeon characters. In fact, it's encouraged that your ideas feature older/more nostalgic characters alongside more current characters since we need to ensure the content is geared towards people ages 13+ (preferably 16+).
  • A National Donut Day (June 3rd) that will also be used on the main Nickelodeon Instagram account. We're also looking for a still image concept for this holiday.
  • A Father's Day (June 19th) post that would be used on the main Nickelodeon Instagram account. This post should celebrate Fatherhood using characters from Nickelodeon animated shows and could be either a still image or a video concept.
  • A First Day of Summer (June 21st) post that would be used on the main Nickelodeon Instagram account and uses characters from multiple Nickelodeon animated shows. This post could be either a still image or a video concept.
  • A general summer-related post that features characters from the SpongeBob SquarePants universe.
  • A general summer-related post that features characters from one of Nickelodeon's franchise properties. Here are the properties you can choose from for your concept:

In terms of executions, the sky is the limit! We're open to seeing creative executions for everything from stop motion & animation, to motion graphics, to paper craft, to photography or lifestyle content, and everything in between. Executions should feature Nick characters whenever possible, but which characters and how they are incorporated is up to you. You could even create custom illustrations featuring characters from multiple Nick properties in a single image (similar to this Nick or Treat Instagram carousel or this First Day of Spring post). While you will have access to official reference images of Nickelodeon characters, the expectation is that you will be drawing the characters yourself to fit the creative concept you submitted.

For the purposes of the Pitch stage, we're asking that you include at least 1 creative concept per social post in your treatment (so 6 total ideas). That said, the more ideas, the better! These creative concepts should illustrate the potential creative approach you would plan to execute for each holiday, along with any specific characters you would plan to feature. You can mix & match format and execution depending on what would work best for each holiday (for example, you could pitch a stylized illustration for the National Burger Day post featuring characters from The Loud House, and a stop-motion approach for an evergreen summer post featuring SpongeBob).

It's strongly recommended that the creative execution for each holiday feel different and unique. Nick is NOT looking for 6 assets that are similar in style and approach. Each asset should be able to stand on its own while still feeling on brand for Nickelodeon. We encourage you to check out the Background section for more information about each show and examples of successful social content.

While Nick is primarily looking for one creator to make all 6 assets, there is a chance Nick may want to "mix and match" ideas from different creators. If that's the case, Tongal will reach out to those creators individually to work out a revised budget based on your bid to create all 6 assets.

For any questions or other project updates, check out the Project Forum.

Shooting live action or stop motion? Our priority is ensuring everyone's safety, so please review our COVID-19 Production Safety Guide and check federal, state, and local rules before and during your shoot to make sure your on-set protocols are up to date. We're working hard to keep people working during this extraordinary time, and you should ensure your submission is executable within the anticipated timeline and budget, while also ensuring everyone's safety.

EXAMPLES OF SUCCESSFUL NICKELODEON SOCIAL CONTENT:

NICKELODEON BRAND - Nickelodeon is the number one entertainment brand for kids, and it's a brand on the precipice of change. Nickelodeon is expanding its focus far beyond the traditional cable TV channel. Treating Nickelodeon as a lifestyle brand – with content, products, experiences and more – is the core of Nick's future-forward plan. Video that embodies that distinct Nickelodeon feeling and connects with fans old and young can help drive that message.

NICKREWIND - NickRewind is Nick’s place for all things nostalgia - covering all your favorite Nickelodeon shows from the 1980s to late 2010s.

NICKELODEON CURRENT ANIMATION SERIES:

STAR TREK: PRODIGY - Exiled on a mining colony outside Federation space, a group of lawless teens discover a derelict Starfleet ship. Dal must gather an unlikely crew for their newfound ship if they are going to escape Tars Lamora, but The Diviner and his daughter Gwyn have other plans. Here are some examples of effective Star Trek: Prodigy social posts:

THE LOUD HOUSE - Welcome to the Loud House! Home to Lori, Leni, Luna, Luan, Lynn, Lucy, Lana, Lola, Lisa, Lily and… Lincoln Loud! As the only brother in the house with five older sisters, five younger sisters and one bathroom, life in the Loud house can get pretty crazy. From unwanted makeovers to exploding science experiments to getting the perfect seat for the family road trip, there's no problem too large--or bedroom too small--for Lincoln! And despite all of the headaches, he wouldn't have it any other way. Lincoln's secret to surviving in the Loud House? Always have a plan. And with a little help from his best friend Clyde, Lincoln can handle anything his sisters throw at him.

THE SMURFS (2021) - The Smurfs have a new home on Nickelodeon and are Smurfier than ever! Join these beloved blue characters as they go on ALL NEW adventures that will push the charm, absurdity, and humor of the original series to even greater heights! Smurf we go!

  • Here's a Smurfs example post from Nickelodeon that features a lot of characters. This is what Nick's looking for!

MIDDLEMOST POST - When a reformed raincloud teams up with a shipwrecked sea-postman and a magic walrus, the three form the Middlemost Post—the wackiest and most loveable postal service on Mt. Middlemost. Nick approaches Middlemost Post through a few content buckets: embracing Parker’s upbeat attitude, playing with their jobs as a mail delivery team, and showing the artistry behind the show. Here are some examples of effective Middlemost Post social posts that tap into the plot and energy of the show:

RUGRATS (2021) - Hold on to your diapers for The Paramount+ Original Series, Rugrats! Join this band of baby best friends as they wander off on epic adventures, get lost in their wild imaginations, and learn about the big world around them… all before snack time!

THE CASAGRANDES - The Casagrandes tells the story of Ronnie Anne, an independent, adventurous, 11-year-old who explores city life with her big, loving, multi-generational Mexican-American family.

RISE OF THE TMNT - Rise up! The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles get an all-new look, new weapons, and awesome new powers! Join the legendary heroes, Raph, Leo, Donnie and Mikey as these brothers discover a Hidden City beneath New York, learn amazing mystic ninja skills, battle absurd mutants… and always find time for a slice of their favorite pizza! Cowabunga! Here are some examples of effective Rise of the TMNT social posts:

AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER (2005) - In a war-torn world of elemental magic, a young boy reawakens to undertake a dangerous mystic quest to fulfill his destiny as the Avatar, and bring peace to the world. The series is centered around the journey of twelve-year-old Aang, the current Avatar and last survivor of his nation, the Air Nomads, along with his friends Katara, Sokka, and later Toph, as they strive to end the Fire Nation's war against the other nations of the world. It also follows the story of Zuko—the exiled prince of the Fire Nation, seeking to restore his lost honor by capturing Aang, accompanied by his wise uncle Iroh—and later, that of his ambitious sister Azula.

SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS (1999) - Original 2D series from 1999, currently in its 13th season with almost 250 episodes. The misadventures of a talking sea sponge who works at a fast food restaurant, attends a boating school, and lives in an underwater pineapple. The character-driven cartoon chronicles the nautical and often nonsensical adventures of SpongeBob, an incurably optimistic and earnest sea sponge, and his underwater friends.

KAMP KORAL: SPONGEBOB'S UNDER YEARS (2021) - In 3D animation, Kamp Koral is a sleepaway summer camp for the children of Bikini Bottom. It’s the ideal place for 10-year-old SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy to make new friends, have epic adventures, and drive their teenage camp counselor Squidward absolutely crazy! Here are some examples of effective Kamp Koral social posts:

THE PATRICK STAR SHOW (2021) - The Patrick Star Show follows everyone’s favorite sea star at home with his family as he hosts an imaginary variety show that comes from the bizarre and hysterical depths of his own brain.
