We're looking for a well organized filmmaking team that can bring a visionary approach to a versatile suite of scripted, live action videos showcasing how Chime's mobile banking app gives users the confidence, control, access, and tools to make their money go further.
Chime is a financial technology company founded on the premise that basic banking services should be helpful, easy, and free, and they want to spread the word! To help promote Chime to potential new users and show how the Chime app works, they are looking for a visionary and very well-organized filmmaking team to develop a versatile suite of scripted, live action videos showcasing how Chime gives users the confidence, control, access, and tools to make their money go further.
The purpose of these videos will be to demonstrate how the Chime app and its various functions work, but in the context of scripted, real world scenarios. We're looking for upbeat & relatable storylines that Chime can be woven into. So for example, someone could be running errands for a friends brunch, only to receive a notification that their account balance was low, but that Chime had spotted them the amount they needed to complete their purchase without fees. You can read more about all of the Chime product features that will need to be showcased in this suite in the Background section below.
When it comes to the scenarios themselves, we want to make sure we're highlighting different ages and professions that make up our target audience. So for example, one video could follow a single mom running her household, another could highlight a college student opening their first banking or credit card account, and another could highlight a couple in their late 20s saving up to purchase a new car. This should be a versatile suite of content, with storylines that can be pieced together for hero edits (there will be four total hero edits for the pillars of Confidence, Control, Access & Build), as well as broken down into their own extended standalone stories for individual product videos.
The storylines themselves should be visually and VO driven. You can plan to shoot MOS on set, and will not need to capture any on-screen dialogue. You should expect to utilize about 4-5 locations total and up to 12 principal cast across the video suite (in addition to a VO artist), and we'd anticipate a 4-5 day shoot. Talent can be mixed & matched as background talent, but your core characters should appear in one pillar only (i.e. your star of the Access pillar videos should not appear as a star of the Build pillar videos). The Chime app user interface (UI) will need to be incorporated where appropriate to show the features in action, but in terms of the split, we'd want to stay in our live action storyline for about 80% of the video, with UI moments taking up the remaining 20%. UI screens and assets will be provided to the greenlit filmmaker, but your production plan should account for animating them. You should plan to shoot all devices on set with green screens & tracking marks, to comp the UI animations in during post.
From a tonal perspective, any scenarios should be lighthearted and relatable. We're open to light humor, but want to avoid anything that feels slapstick, overly dramatic, or like it's encouraging reckless money habits. These videos should be all about showcasing how smarter money decisions can make for an overall happier life.
For your Pitch submission, we're asking you to edit together a :15 proof-of-concept "SpotMe" sample video (16x9) demonstrating your proposed scenario and approach to a video highlighting that product. You may use ANY available footage for that, as well as temp motion graphics. You can also read more about what SpotMe is, and how it helps Chime users in the Background section below. This proof-of-concept is about pacing, tone, framing, video structure, motion graphics, and finding a way to tell a simple product story in an engaging way. In your treatment, please also tell us how you would apply this structure to other Chime products to create a full cohesive suite of content.
