Hybrid Workplace Animation Project
Pitch
09/16/20 - 09/27/20

Produce an anthemic short animation that uniquely captures the challenging workspaces businesses find themselves in today and shows how Hewlett Packard Enterprises is here to help.

The Sponsor has decided not to move forward with a Bid on this project. Though most Open Bid Projects do move forward with a selected Bid, we will always notify you in the event the Sponsor has decided not to move forward. Please note that regardless of the results, all submissions are reviewed and evaluated by the Sponsor and the Project Team. We sincerely appreciate your time and effort on this project.

Hewlett Packard Enterprises (HPE) is a leader in innovation and technology that keeps some of the world's greatest companies running smoothly. Under the COVID-19 pandemic, those workplaces have shifted dramatically, and organizations are scrambling to find a new normal in these challenging circumstances. The changes aren't simply new Dropboxes and additional Zoom calls, but instead, companies are having to take their intricate business models and truly translate them into remote setups, limited offices, or something in between. Hewlett Packard Enterprises wants to create a :60-:90 animation that speaks to this theme and offers a helping hand to business leaders searching for solutions for their team members.

The creative direction for this project is open-ended, so Hewlett Packard Enterpise will be looking to you to lead with a dynamic concept to base your pitch on. HPE does want to keep this creative centered in the employee experience, but from there the ask is wide open. Be sure to check out the background section for more details on Hewlett Packard Enterpise’s role in assisting companies today, but it is up to you to pitch a bold concept to carry viewers through this timely messaging. This project will require a strong knack for writing and storytelling so lean into those aspects of your pitch. HPE will want to understand what kind of story they are going to tell and how their product fits into it. Be sure to explain how your style frames align with your vision and complement the story you hope to tell.

The Sponsor is interested in seeing tiered pricing options, so please feel free to submit various versions of your pitch at budget, target, and reach price points within that price range.
  • By participating in this open bid project, creators acknowledge that the Sponsor is under no obligation to greenlight a bid. Though most open bid projects on our platform do move forward with a greenlit bid, we will notify you in the event the Sponsor decides not to fund any bids via the project forum. Regardless of the result, all open bid submissions will be reviewed and evaluated by the Sponsor and the project team.

STORY

This is a whole new category that businesses and organizations are having to address and the focal point is why should they trust HPE to help them solve this significant challenge. Hewlett Packard Enterprises has a number of products and services to streamline business operations in the digital space, and it is no surprise that they are perfectly poised to help companies find their footing in the office of 2020. But what is that landscape like? What are some of the universal challenges and frustrations that are plaguing workers at a human level? HPE wants to hinge off of the emotional context of today's office spaces and put the people (not technology) at the center of the story. We want to capture the strangeness of running board meetings from your coffee table or juggling internet bandwidth with your spouse.

After entering the conversation, we would want to talk directly to the problem-solvers and decision-makers of companies. These oddities and quirky office setups create real production issues, and this audience will be focused on trying to reign in data security, handle the overhead of a thousand tiny offices, and increase collaboration amongst newly siloed teams.

HPE has a few specific solutions that may help illustrate how they can be part of navigating a socially distant office. We do not intend to dive deep on any one of these products, but touching on the problems they solve will be an important part of relating to our audience. As you contemplate your concept, you should use these elements as tentpoles to weave your narrative through:

  • Remote Work
    • Access to Data and Security - the digital transformation continues to accelerate, and leaders see a persistent need to enable their remote workers in the future.
  • Returning to Work
    • Where physical work is required, organizations need to manage the productive and safe return to the office/campus.
  • Hybrid Offices
    • Pay per usage cloud experience helps businesses stay nimble as the landscape shifts constantly.

Hewlett Packard Enterprises places employees at the center of a frictionless experience – where people and technology come together to form a human edge that unleashes productivity and potential.

AESTHETIC

Stylistically, HPE is hoping to create a show stopper that grabs the viewer's attention. They think this unique message can afford to explore new spaces and break a few rules. We want viewers to definitively know that this video comes from HPE, and we would expect to still use their color palette and fonts at times. However, the brand is willing to try something new when it comes to the actual animation elements of this video. This is a strange time for us all, and HPE recognizes that a new message requires a new aesthetic. Pitches shouldn't be afraid to break the mold of your typical business to business explainer video and create something exciting. Feel free to explore dynamic transitions, flashy on-screen text effects, unexpected camera movements, and vibrant graphic design.

In order to be considered for this project, you must include the below materials in your pitch submission. For examples of effective pitches, check out this gallery.

  • TEXT (REQUIRED): 500 characters or less synopsizing how you plan to approach and execute this video.

  • TREATMENT (REQUIRED): A detailed narrative description of what's going to happen in the video. If it's helpful to you, we've provided a treatment template, which you can find here.

  • BID (REQUIRED): This is an open bid project, so you’ll get to set your overall budget proposal. You can download the budget template here. The Sponsor would like each producer to complete the deliverables with a cost range of $40-50k per video.

  • STYLE FRAME (REQUIRED): Share images or examples of the aesthetic you see for this project. Be clear about how you see it complimenting your story and explain elements that might not be evident in still form.

  • LINKS (REQUIRED): To your previous video work. Please specify your role (producer, director, cinematography, etc.) and DO NOT INCLUDE LINKS TO YOUR SHOWREEL. Please link to individual videos.

  • SCRIPT (Optional): This should include dialogue from the video you intend to create.

  • PITCH VIDEO (Optional): This is your opportunity to be face-to-face with the Sponsor and show them what you're capable of. Consider submitting a pitch video in which you tell the Sponsor what they can expect should they choose your pitch. Also, test videos, animatics, etc. are welcome. For some examples of effective Pitch videos, check out this gallery. All Pitches will remain private until after the Sponsor gives creator(s) the green light to move forward.

The most compelling pitch will be greenlit, and upon completing the Winner Affidavit and the IP Assignment, the responsible creator will receive funding. Please note: the payment of the pitch funds is subject to a payment schedule determined by Tongal. Please see the full payment schedule in the Assets section.
