Pitch us your plan to create the pilot episode and potential 8 episode season of a new Best Fiends themed DIY & crafting YouTube series.

Seriously, the company behind the addictively fun mobile game Best Fiends, is considering launching a new crafting & DIY series on YouTube, and is looking to the Tongal community to produce a pilot episode, with an opportunity to potentially produce the full first season. The pilot episode (any any subsequent episodes) will be a 1-3 minute video showing how to make a Best Fiend DIY or craft project. The video should follow the same pace as Seriously's popular cooking series Best Fiends Bites (also #MadeOnTongal), by breaking down the steps to make each craft (though not necessarily in the same format!).

The pilot episode will focus on an easy to replicate Fiend Halloween costume. This costume can be for a child, an adult, or even a pet! The choice is up to you. More information in the Executional Mandatories section below!

DELIVERABLES:

  • One pilot episode at 1-3 minutes in length
  • One 15-Second 1:1 "Coming Soon" trailer
  • One 15-Second 1:1 "Watch Now" trailer (This can be the same as the above, but with different copy)
  • One 16:9 style frame of the finished costume (With and without copy labels for Pinterest)
  • One 1:1 style frame of the finished costume (With and without copy labels for Pinterest)
  • Eight 16:9 stills from the finished video

TIMELINE: For the full project timeline, please see the Assets tab.

EXPOSURE:

  • YouTube (Episodes)
  • Social Media (Trailers)
  • Best Fiends Mobile Games

Please check out this page for more information on Social Media best practices.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

  • Current Best Fiends players, women and men, who are 18-50
  • Crafting & DIY enthusiasts

TONE:

  • Quick, fun & informative

EXECUTIONAL MANDATORIES:

  • This is an Open Bid project, so you will get to set your own budget proposal for a full 8-episode season within the range of $15-25K. Your budget proposal should also list your estimated cost per episode including the cost for the pilot. The Sponsor is interested in seeing tiered pricing options, so please feel free to submit various versions of your pitch at budget, target, and reach price points within that price range.
  • Filmmakers will be responsible for making the crafts shown in the video, with designs subject to Sponsor approval
  • Your treatment should detail which costume you plan to make for the pilot episode, as well as 3-4 other potential craft ideas you would make in a season. To help you think about this, we've included some potential craft ideas below. Please be sure to come up with your own craft ideas - they should NOT overlap with these:
    • Custom iPhone cases
    • Nail Designs
    • Decorative Planters
  • The pilot must be based on an easy to replicate Fiend Halloween costume. Which Fiend you choose, and who the costume is for - a child, and adult, or even a pet - is up to you! You can check out all of the Fiend characters here.
  • The pilot (and any subsequent episodes) should be straightforward enough for viewers to follow along at home, with steps that should be achievable in a 1-3 minute video.
  • The pilot (and any subsequent episodes) should be live action.
  • The pilot (and any subsequent episodes) can be hosted or non-hosted. If hosted, casting approval will be a requirement in the pre-production phase.
  • The series does not have to be stop motion or shot from above, but be sure to check out the Best Fiends Bites cooking series for some ideas of pacing.

By participating in this Open Bid project, creators acknowledge that the Sponsor is under no obligation to greenlight a Bid. Though most Open Bid projects on our platform do move forward with a greenlit Bid, we will notify you in the event the Sponsor decides not to fund any Bids via the Project Forum. Regardless of the result, all Open Bid submissions will be reviewed and evaluated by the Sponsor and the Project Team.

REFERENCE VIDEOS FOR INSPIRATION OR TONE:

  • Be sure to check out Seriously's existing Best Fiends Bites cooking series (also #MadeOnTongal) and their Creative Corner crafting videos for a sense of the tone and pace these episodes should be aiming for.

In order to be considered for this project you must include the below materials in your Pitch submission. For examples of effective Pitches, check out this gallery.

  • TEXT (REQUIRED): 500 characters or less synopsizing how you plan to approach and execute this Video.

  • LINKS (REQUIRED): To your previous video work. Please specify your role (producer, director, cinematography, etc.) and DO NOT INCLUDE LINKS TO YOUR SHOWREEL. Please link to individual videos.

  • TREATMENT (REQUIRED): A detailed narrative description of what's going to happen in the video. Your treatment should specifically discuss how you plan to make the Halloween costume. You should also discuss 3-4 other potential craft ideas you would make in a season. If it's helpful to you, we've provided a Treatment template, which you can find here.

  • BUDGET (REQUIRED): This is an open bid project, so you’ll get to set your overall budget proposal. You can download the Budget template here. The Sponsor would like each producer to submit a budget proposal within $15-25K to produce a full 8-episode season. Your budget proposal should also include a breakdown of estimated cost per episode including the pilot.

  • PITCH VIDEO (Optional): This is your opportunity to be face-to-face with the Sponsor and show them what you're capable of. Consider submitting a Pitch video in which you tell the Sponsor what they can expect should they choose your Pitch. Also, test videos, animatic, etc. are welcome. For some examples of effective Pitch videos, check out this gallery. All Pitches will remain private until after the Sponsor gives creator(s) the green light to move forward.

Should the sponsor decide to move forward, the most compelling Pitch will be greenlit, and upon submitting the Winner’s Affidavit and the IP Assignment, the responsible creator will receive funding. Please note the payment of the Pitch funds is subject to a payment schedule determined by Tongal.

PRE-PRODUCTION REQUIREMENTS: Prior to shooting filmmakers must receive the below Approvals from the sponsor.

  • STORYBOARD: This project requires Storyboard Approval before filmmakers move onto the Video Phase. The brand may provide feedback on your storyboard and ask you to submit a new version of the storyboard.
  • LOCATION: This project requires Location Approval before filmmakers move onto the Video Phase. This means you will need to submit multiple images of your primary filming. The brand may provide feedback on your location and ask you to submit additional photos or to find a new location and submit images for that.
  • STYLE FRAMES: This project requires Style Frame Approval before filmmakers move onto the Video Phase. You will need to submit pictures of the finished craft design you plan to make in your video. You must submit a 16:9 and 1:1 version of the photo. If the brand does not approve of your design, you may be asked to submit new options.
  • CASTING (if applicable): This project requires casting/headshot approval before filmmakers move onto the Video Phase (if applicable). You must submit at least two actor options per role. If the Sponsor does not approve either of your options for a role, you may be asked to submit two new actor options.

For your convenience we’ve provided some helpful templates to use at your discretion. They include templates for creating a Treatment, Production Budget, Storyboards, Shot List, Call Sheet, and a Music Cue Sheet. Additionally, there are templates that will help you clearly present the Sponsor cast, location, and wardrobe options. They can all be accessed here.
