Create a fun animated video for social that celebrates the high-octane energy of AEW wrestlers.

AEW, or All Elite Wrestling, is an American professional wrestling league. AEW Dynamite airs weekly on Wednesdays on TNT. WarnerMedia is looking for you to create a fun animated version of one of two clips of AEW wrestlers to celebrate the fandom and culture of AEW on their social channels. Your videos should encourage audience interaction, spotlight the incredible personalities of AEW talent, and create evergreen content that keeps AEW fans coming back to AEW's social channels and Turner TV channels for more great content.

WarnerMedia has provided two different clips that you can use as your source material and inspiration. You can check out both clips in the Background/Additional Details section.

WarnerMedia is open to any animation style (i.e. 2D, 3D, stop-motion, papercraft, etc.), and encourages you to have fun with your design to create something thumb-stopping and attention-grabbing for AEW fans and audiences on AEW's social platforms. That said, your approach shouldn't be so abstract that a viewer can't reasonably figure out who the wrestler is.

DELIVERABLES: One :15–:30 animated video (in both 16x9 and 1x1)

TIMELINE: For the full project timeline please see the Assets section. Please note the short timeline for this project.

EXPOSURE:

  • WarnerMedia is open to sharing this video on any and all of AEW's social channels, especially Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. Be sure to familiarize yourself with AEW's social channels (all linked) so you get a sense of their voice and how they interact with fans.
  • Check out our platform best practices page.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

  • Fans of wrestling and AEW
  • Average Age on Social: 31
  • Male: 52%
  • Female: 48%

TONE:

  • Funny, Irreverent, Unfiltered, Athletic, High-Impact, Rebellious, In Your Face

EXECUTIONAL MANDATORIES:

  • You must use one of the provided clips (linked in Background/Additional Details) as your source material.
  • The faces of all AEW wrestlers should be recognizable and clear in your animation.
  • Your final video must entertain even with the sound off. Think of how you could use graphics to achieve this.

OPEN BID:

  • This is an open bid project, so you will get to set your own budget proposal within the $5,000 - $10,000 range. The Sponsor is interested in seeing tiered pricing options, so please feel free to submit various versions of your pitch at budget, target, and reach price points within that price range.
  • By participating in this open bid project, creators acknowledge that the Sponsor is under no obligation to greenlight a bid. Though most open bid projects on our platform do move forward with a greenlit bid, we will notify you in the event the Sponsor decides not to fund any bids via the project forum. Regardless of the result, all open bid submissions will be reviewed and evaluated by the Sponsor and the project team.

Your pitch should show how you'd bring the wrestlers to life as thumb-stopping animated characters and how you'd play with the soundbites in the clip to create a fun and engaging piece of content for their social channels.

Your pitch should be based on one of the two following clips:

  1. The first clip features AEW fighters Chris Jericho and MJF, and WarnerMedia would like you to animate a :15-:30 section of the video clip starting from the 3:00 mark through the end.
  2. The second clip features AEW fighters Jon Moxley and Kenny Omega, and WarnerMedia would like you to animate a :15-:30 section of the video clip starting at the 2:19 mark through the end.

REFERENCE VIDEOS FOR INSPIRATION OR TONE:

WarnerMedia is open to all unique styles and formats, but here are two examples of potential creative approaches:

  • Check out this tweet.
  • This Hulk Hogan cartoon mixes live action footage and animation in a really interesting way and has a fun 80s throwback vibe.

In order to be considered for this project, you must include the below materials in your pitch submission. For examples of effective pitches, check out this gallery.

  • TEXT (REQUIRED): 500 characters or less synopsizing how you plan to approach and execute this video.

  • LINKS (REQUIRED): To your previous video work. Please specify your role (producer, director, cinematography, etc.) and DO NOT INCLUDE LINKS TO YOUR SHOWREEL. Please link to individual videos.

  • TREATMENT (REQUIRED): A detailed narrative description of what's going to happen in the video. If it's helpful to you, we've provided a treatment template, which you can find here.

  • STYLE FRAME (REQUIRED): Please upload a sample animation style frame in PDF format. Your style frame should show how you plan to visualize the wrestlers in your animation.

  • BUDGET (REQUIRED): This is an open bid project, so you’ll get to set your overall budget proposal. You can download the budget template here. The Sponsor would like each producer to create one video in two aspect ratios with a cost range of $5,000 - $10,000.

  • STORYBOARDS (Optional): Additional concept art, storyboards, shot list, anything that helps get your point across. You can download the Tongal storyboard template here.

  • PITCH VIDEO (Optional): This is your opportunity to be face-to-face with the Sponsor and show them what you're capable of. Consider submitting a pitch video in which you tell the Sponsor what they can expect should they choose your pitch. Also, test videos, animatics, etc. are welcome. For some examples of effective Pitch videos, check out this gallery. All Pitches will remain private until after the Sponsor gives creator(s) the green light to move forward.

The most compelling pitch will be greenlit, and upon completing the Winner Affidavit and the IP Assignment, the responsible creator will receive funding. Please note: the payment of the pitch funds is subject to a payment schedule determined by Tongal. Please see the full payment schedule in the Assets section.

PRE-PRODUCTION REQUIREMENTS: Prior to shooting, filmmakers must receive the below approvals from the Sponsor.

  • UPDATED STYLE FRAMES: This project requires style frame approval before filmmakers move onto the Video Phase. The Sponsor may provide feedback on your style frames and ask you to submit new versions. There may be up to two rounds of feedback until the style frames are approved by the Sponsor.

For your convenience, we’ve provided some helpful templates to use at your discretion. They include templates for creating a treatment, production budget, storyboards, shot list, call sheet, and a music cue sheet. Additionally, there are templates that will help you clearly present cast, location, and wardrobe options to the Sponsor. They can all be accessed here.

REVISION REQUIREMENTS: Once the Video Phase has closed, the greenlit submitters will enter the Revisions Phase. Filmmakers will perform reasonable edits on their videos according to the Sponsor’s feedback.

Music from these providers is available to registered Tongal members at no charge solely for their incorporation into submissions to this project and will not require a separate Music Release Form. To learn more about using each of these music providers, click on any of the providers’ names above.
