Design a suite of movie posters depicting what the wrestling world will look like after WrestleMania, based on which WWE Superstar wins their championship match.

Whether you're a fan of professional wrestling or not, chances are you've probably heard of WrestleMania. It's the Super Bowl of pro-wrestling and WWE's biggest show of the year, where feuds come to a head, where new champions are crowned, and where WWE Superstars put on iconic matches... but equally is important is the Monday Night RAW the day after WrestleMania, where the fallout of those epic wins and losses begins. To help promote this year's Monday Night RAW after 'Mania, USA Network would like to create a series of movie posters that depict the wrestling world if one Superstar wins over another.

We'll caveat that there are no spoilers in this brief! We have no idea who is going to win at WrestleMania. Instead, what we'd like to do is create posters for all possibilities. Each Superstar has their own unique personality, so what will WWE look like if Roman Reigns retains the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship? What will it look like if Cody Rhodes wins the belts instead? Think about the genre that might align best with each Superstar - whether it's heroic, mobster, horror, comedy, action, or something else entirely - and the types of poster designs that would align with that genre. We'll want to focus on the following Superstars and matches, and you can read a bit more about each of them in the Background section below:

  • Roman Reigns vs Cody Rhodes for the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship
  • Charlotte Flair vs Rhea Ripley for the SmackDown Women's Championship
  • Bianca Belair vs Asuka for the RAW Women's Championship

In terms of the style of these designs, we'd like to lean using actual images of the WWE Superstars (which will be provided by the Sponsor), as opposed to illustrations. Then, background elements can either be illustrated or photorealistic, based on what works best for the genre of poster you're creating.

In your pitch, please tell us about the genre you'd pair with each Superstar, and if possible, please include references for the type of poster style you'd pair with each genre. You do not need to do any original design work in the pitch stage. For any questions or other project updates, check out the Project Forum.

EXECUTIONAL MANDATORIES:

  • You should plan to utilize images of the WWE Superstars provided by the Sponsor.
  • If you are licensing any imagery for use in your movie posters, you must discuss this with your Tongal producer first to ensure that those external pieces are able to be cleared.
  • You may not directly replicate any IP or imagery from other films (for example, a Superstar should not be wearing a Superman cape).

By participating in this project, creators acknowledge that the Sponsor is under no obligation to greenlight a submission. Though most projects on our platform do move forward, we will notify you in the event the Sponsor decides not to fund any submissions via the project forum. Regardless of the result, all submissions will be reviewed and evaluated by the Sponsor and the project team.

You can read more about the WWE Superstars that will be featured in this content below:

In order to be considered for this project, you must include the below materials in your pitch submission. For examples of effective pitches, check out this gallery.

  • TEXT (REQUIRED): Up to 500 characters synopsizing how you plan to approach and produce the content listed out in the Deliverables.

  • TREATMENT (REQUIRED): A more detailed and specific description of how you propose to execute all of the content listed out in the Deliverables, both in terms of what we can expect to see, and how you’ll make it. If it's helpful to you, we've provided a treatment template, which you can find here.

  • LINKS (REQUIRED): To your previous design work or portfolio.

The most compelling pitch will be greenlit, and the responsible creator will then receive an email from Tongal producers detailing next steps. All submitters will also receive an automated email notification that a selection has been announced. To ensure you’re receiving project updates, review your email settings to check that you haven’t unsubscribed.

Creators who’ve been selected will receive funding upon completing the Winner Affidavit and the IP Assignment. Payment of the pitch funds is subject to a payment schedule determined by Tongal. Please see the full payment schedule.

REVISION REQUIREMENTS & RESOURCES: Once the Design Phase has closed, the greenlit submitters will enter the Revisions Phase. Filmmakers will perform reasonable edits according to the Sponsor’s feedback. Check out our Resource Portal to access helpful post-production resources like Text-Safe Guides for different platforms, Project File Organization Tutorial, Export Presets, and Captioning services.

STOCK FOOTAGE: Tongal has partnered with the stock footage library STORYBLOCKS, which can be used to source photography for your submission to this project. Photo content from Storyblocks is available at no charge, solely for incorporation into submissions on this project, and content will not require a separate Release Form. If identifiable people or intellectual property appears in a photo, you may only utilize assets that are clearly marked “Model released: Yes” or “Property release: Yes” on the clip description pages.

If you intend to use Storyblocks, inform your Tongal producer beforehand, and an account will be created for you to access the library and its features. Once your submissions are approved by the Sponsor, you must provide a complete list of all Storyblocks content that you used via our template HERE.

ASSET DELIVERY REQUIREMENTS & RESOURCES: You must also provide all project files in order to submit final payment. You are responsible for the costs associated the hard drive and shipping.

To ensure a smoother delivery, please review the Export Presets, Specifications, and Project File Organization Tutorial in our Filmmaker Resource Portal.
