Create an unexpected, witty, and visually compelling live-action YouTube video, up-to 2 minutes, that explains how to travel like a pro with T-Mobile.

Have you ever landed in a new country and realized you don't have service? You can avoid that worry with T-Mobile, which has you covered with high-speed data and texting in over 215 destinations worldwide. And when you get to that special new spot you're going to explore, you can get even more savings with discounts on partner hotel brands, save on gas when you swing by a Shell to refuel before you check out the sights, and skip the refuel on that rental car return. And you can stay entertained while you're in the air with that sweet in-flight connection T-Mobile gives you. When you sign up for T-Mobile, you get all of these perks and more through their official benefits program, Magenta Status. T-Mobile wants to help its customers become total pros at putting their travel perks to great use, and they're looking for a team to produce a new way to demo how to travel like a pro for their YouTube channel.

There are a lot of explainer and vlog-style videos on YouTube and for this content, T-Mobile wants to stand apart by thinking outside the box. A great comp is the new Delta in-flight safety video - they're demoing all of the key procedures and guidelines, but they're using off-flight, unexpected locations and actions to get their ideas across. We're looking for something in the same spirit here. You could pitch something vlogger-style as long as it levels up on the format, or you could pitch something else original and fun. You should not just copy that in-flight video, but it should bring the same effect: an entertaining, original, but clear and memorable way to share the Magenta Status travel perks and how to maximize them on your trips. It should feel very inherently YouTube, and be able to frame these very business-like concepts in a way that makes them feel essential to try out.

We really want to see you get creative in how you approach this, and to see how you integrate each perk as a potential story beat. There are many perks to Magenta Status, so if there are any non-travel perks that make sense to add in, see how you can work it in to the travel pro storyline. The video will also need to have a thumbnail created using a still frame from the video and have text included, they should all have a clean aesthetic and fit with the current T-Mobile thumbnail style. You will also need to provide a Spanish audio file for your video, so script translations and a Spanish voiceover artist will be required. You can find more information on Magenta Status in the Background, and for any questions or other project updates, check out the Project Forum.

The Tongal On-Set Apprenticeship Program is an opportunity to support new & emerging talent in production positions with hands-on on-set experience. Please indicate on the pitch submission form if you would be interested in overseeing an apprentice on your production; your answer will neither increase nor decrease the likelihood of your pitch being greenlit. Tongal will cover the apprentice's day rate outside of your project budget, and if you are matched with an apprentice, your Tongal producer will reach out with more information. To learn more about the On-Set Apprenticeship Program and the responsibilities of an advisor, please click HERE.

The most compelling pitch will be greenlit by the Sponsor, and the responsible creator will then receive an email from Tongal producers detailing next steps. All submitters will also receive an automated email notification that a selection has been announced. To ensure you’re receiving project updates, review your email settings to check that you haven’t unsubscribed.

Creators who’ve been selected will receive funding upon completing the Winner Affidavit and the IP Assignment. Payment of the pitch funds is subject to a payment schedule determined by Tongal, typically included with the project timeline.

PRE-PRODUCTION REQUIREMENTS: Prior to the commencement of actual production, creators MUST receive final approval from the Sponsor on the elements below. There may be multiple rounds of feedback until an element is approved.

If you begin production before you have received final approval, you may need to reshoot or reanimate at your own expense.

  • TREATMENT Describe in detail how you plan to execute the content, and how you plan to bring it to life visually. Feel free to use concept art, references, style frames, or mock-ups. If relevant, share additional information about your team, and your process.
  • SCRIPT: Include clear descriptions of the visuals or action, along with dialogue, voiceover, or on-screen text, as relevant.
  • CASTING: Tongal advocates for inclusivity in on-screen representation and diversity in casting. It is preferable to share multimedia content (i.e. video & audio clips) to help the Sponsor gauge the talent's performance, rather than headshots or resumes.

  • WARDROBE: Submit descriptions and/or pictures of your cast's wardrobe. You must submit at least two wardrobe options per role.
