Working with existing video assets, including docu-style footage, instructional videos, and testimonials, edit together a host of different energetic and captivating videos for YouTube and YouTube Shorts that showcase T-Mobile's incredible brand intiatives.

There are so many qualities that make T-Mobile great, such as being America's largest and fastest 5G Network and offering never-ending customer benefits, but the reason they truly stand out is due to the amazing initiatives the T-Mobile brand has to offer their customers and community. As T-Mobile updates its YouTube channel this year to maintain a modern and fresh feeling, they have a number of older videos that they're looking to refresh, and they're looking to find new ways to share these stories. This project involves 7 of those videos, and it's all about breathing fresh life and more energy into existing content.

The goal of this project is to find 2 different editors, each with their own style, to create three or four different 1-2 min videos, based on existing video assets that were originally created for T-Mobile's YouTube channel and other digital platforms. While 16x9 videos will be top priority, we will also be looking for shorter cutdowns specifically designed to be shared on YouTube Shorts, and since the original content is natively 16x9, the vertical re-edits will require special attention. The existing videos are edited in a pretty simple and straightforward manner, so the key creative challenge here is how to approach the footage from a new and unique angle, and how that approach can inject a lot more dynamic energy into the content.

Importantly, we have 7 videos that we need to re-edit, but we're going to assign one editor to 3, and another editor to 4, so you'll note that the budget and deliverables will depend on whether you're assigned 3 or 4. You can find the videos themselves, and get a better sense of the content you're working, in the Background. Asking for Help and the two P10M videos are more docu-style and testimonial-based, as well as having a similar subject matter and tone; whereas the last three videos are more instructional in nature. So keep in that in mind in terms of how you may approach the videos; i.e. heavy graphics may be better served on the how-to content. We are still waiting on some of the RAW footage for certain videos, but all footage will be provided during pre-production and in terms of timing, the Generator Tips video will be a top priority.

Since this is an editing project, the creation of motion graphics and text will be instrumental in making these feel more dynamic, but you'll also want to think about transitions, and how you can make the pacing feel snappier and much more engaging, with clever cuts, camera moves, etc.. While these videos should feel more upbeat and interesting than the original assets, we obviously still want to ensure the finished product feels fitting to the overall tone of T-Mobile. T-Mobile's got a distinct voice that is vibrant and playful, self-aware and confident, celebratory - but still professional. They're the Un-carrier - cool, clever, maybe even a little quirky. The color magenta (#E20074) is key too (if you haven't already noticed) and it's pervasive throughout T-Mobile content.

For your pitch, we'd like you to submit a proof-of-concept video to get a better sense of how you're proposing to liven these up. You can use the existing assets shared down below to help demonstrate your approach. For any questions or other project updates, check out the Project Forum.

DELIVERABLES: There are 6-8 total video assets, per creator:

  • Three-Four 1-2 minute YouTube videos (16x9)
  • Three-Four under :60 cutdowns for YouTube Shorts (9x16)
  • .SRT files for each video

EXPECTED TIMELINE: HERE

RELEVANT ASSETS: HERE

EXPOSURE: We expect content will be used on the platforms below, but if casting talent, be sure they review our required Talent Release before they're cast, as it is NOT limited to these platforms. You should also review our Music providers in the Project Requirements, as well as the platform best practices.

TARGET AUDIENCE: T-Mobile employees, friends, family, business contacts, and social networks. This runs the gamut because we're talking about both corporate and in-store employees, so go for broad appeal.

TONE/FEEL: Unexpected, dynamic, energetic, polished, cool, relevant, quirky. Stay away from anything that feels sales-y or ad-like.

EXECUTIONAL MANDATORIES:

  • Always make Magenta (#E20074) the hero color.
  • Other primary brand colors are Dark Magenta (#861B54), Dark Gray (#6A6A6A), Light Gray (#E8E8E8), Black (#000000), and White (#FFFFFF).
  • Your video should avoid competitor colors (e.g. Verizon's reds, AT&T's blues).

By participating in this project, creators acknowledge that the Sponsor is under no obligation to greenlight a submission. Though most projects do move forward, we'll notify you in the event the Sponsor decides not to fund any submissions via the Project Forum. Regardless of the result, all submissions will be reviewed and evaluated by the Sponsor and project team.

PREVIOUS T-MOBILE GIFS & VIDEOS: These are just a few of the recent videos created on Tongal, and they're a good example of the stylistic diversity you can incorporate when approaching this project.

  • T-Mobile Scam-Shield & Left-Handed Keyboard Videos - These are great examples of how existing footage was taken and refreshed through the use of motion graphics, stock imagery, and typography.
  • Previous Evergreen Offers Videos - This is what we mean when we mention modern, stylish, and tech-forward in design aesthetic.
  • Hispanic Heritage Quote Video - Look at how vibrant and fluidly energetic this is, and how the artistry shines through in an unexpected way, with a very modern feel.
  • Benefits & Sustainability Video - This is a good example of how a mixed media / motion graphic approach can bring the same kind of electric energy, showcasing some abstract artistry in its design elements to make the image feel lively without being cluttered.

In order to be considered, include the below materials in your submission. For examples of effective pitches, check out this gallery. All Pitches remain private, even after a Pitch is selected, and Tongal strives to have Pitch selections made by the end of the Evaluation period, but additional time may be required by the Sponsor, depending on any number of factors.

  • TEXT (REQUIRED): Up to 500 characters synopsizing how you plan to approach and produce the content listed in the Deliverables.

  • TREATMENT (REQUIRED): A more detailed and specific description of how you propose to execute all of the content listed out in the Deliverables. Explain what we can expect to see, and how you'll make it. If it's helpful, we've provided a treatment template HERE.

  • PROOF OF CONCEPT VIDEO (REQUIRED): We highly suggest submitting one proof-of-concept video up to :15, illustrating how you might approach the information provided in the Objectives section.

  • LINKS (REQUIRED): To your previous video work. Please specify your role (producer, director, editor, artist, etc.) but do not include links to your showreel. Please link to individual videos.

  • PITCH VIDEO (Optional): This is your opportunity to be face-to-face with the Sponsor and show what you're capable of. Consider a video in which you tell the Sponsor what they can expect, or consider test videos, proof-of-concept edits, animatics, etc. For examples of effective Pitch videos, check out this gallery.

The most compelling pitch will be greenlit by the Sponsor, and the responsible creator will then receive an email from Tongal producers detailing next steps. All submitters will also receive an automated email notification that a selection has been announced. To ensure you’re receiving project updates, review your email settings to check that you haven’t unsubscribed.

Creators who’ve been selected will receive funding upon completing the Winner Affidavit and the IP Assignment. Payment of the pitch funds is subject to a payment schedule determined by Tongal, typically included with the project timeline.

PRE-PRODUCTION REQUIREMENTS: Prior to the commencement of actual production, creators MUST receive final approval from the Sponsor on the elements below. There may be multiple rounds of feedback until an element is approved.

If you begin production before you have received final approval, you may need to reshoot or reanimate at your own expense.

  • TREATMENT Describe in detail how you plan to execute the content, and how you plan to bring it to life visually. Feel free to use concept art, references, style frames, or mock-ups. If relevant, share additional information about your team, and your process.

For convenience, we've provided some helpful templates that you can consider using for pre-production materials, and they can all be accessed here.
