Create two unique :15 stop motion videos (with two :06 cut downs) celebrating the limited edition holiday designs on Starbucks Frappuccino bottled coffee drinks!

Now that summertime is coming to an end, Starbucks has started thinking about the most wonderful time of the year - the winter holiday season! This year, Starbucks is bringing some holiday spirit to their Frappuccino bottled coffee line with limited edition holiday bottles for their Caramel, Mocha, Vanilla & Coffee flavors.

To help promote these special designs, Starbucks would like to create stop motion videos in the style of classic holiday specials. Think along the lines of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer or Frosty the Snowman. These videos should be inspired by the holiday bottles and tap into the magic & nostalgia of the holiday season, without focusing on any holiday in particular. The client is open to different stop motion styles such as claymation or paper craft! They will not be providing the actual bottles.

DELIVERABLES:

  • One :15 sec (1:1) for FB/IG centered around the Mocha drink
  • One :15 sec (1:1) for FB/IG centered around the Coffee drink
  • One :06 sec vertical (9:16) for Snapchat centered around the Mocha drink
  • One :06 sec vertical (9:16) for Snapchat centered around the Coffee drink
  • One end card (created by filmmakers) highlighting all four holiday bottles with prominent Starbucks branding, including the Siren logo (high res images provided by Starbucks).

TIMELINE:

  • Final video files will be due 10/30
  • For the full project timeline please see the Assets section.

EXPOSURE:

  • Starbucks' social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram & Snapchat.

Click here for platform best practices page.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

  • Primary target is the Millennial audience, with a secondary focus on the Gen Z audience.
  • Women across both age demographics.
  • These female consumers are impulse-driven, fun-loving, and believe in self-expression. They count on delicious coffee beverages with bold flavors to boost their energy and elevate their enjoyment of life. They are flavor fanatics always on the hunt for variety, excitement, and what’s “hot right now.”  They seek out new experiences, they’re adventurous, and they’re curious with flavors.

TONE:

  • Seasonal & festive
  • Colorful, cheerful, celebratory, upbeat, happy & fun
  • Vibrant, bold, and youthful. Videos should avoid pretentiousness!

EXECUTIONAL MANDATORIES:

  • Mocha & Coffee will need to be the hero flavors of the videos.
  • Videos should be specific to the winter season & embrace the festive nature of the holidays. However, they should NOT specifically reference any holiday in particular.
  • Videos should be inspired by the elements from the holiday bottle designs (i.e. the house from Mocha, the trees from Coffee).
  • Videos should feature the iconic aspects of the Frappuccino brand:
    1. Bottle shape, pop of cap, & fun brand personality (mandatory)
    2. Delicious and bold flavors, superior coffee quality (strongly preferred)
  • Videos should be stop motion. The sponsor is open to seeing various styles within the stop motion genre - including but not limited to paper craft and claymation.
  • Given the timeline for this product, you will NOT be able to use physical bottles with the holiday designs in your videos. If greenlit and selected to move forward, you will have access to high-res photos and renderings of the holiday bottles. Please be sure to break down how you would address this in your treatment (i.e. if doing claymation animation, would you make the bottles out of clay, etc.)
  • Videos should tell a story, but should NOT use any dialogue. In your treatment, please be sure to discuss whether all of your videos will be part of one story, or if you will be telling different stories across each video.
  • Videos should feel high quality, and in line with the Starbucks brand.

OPEN BID:

  • This is an open bid project, so you will get to set your own budget proposal within the $25,000-$35,000 range. The Sponsor is interested in seeing tiered pricing options, so please feel free to submit various versions of your pitch at budget, target, and reach price points within that price range.
  • By participating in this open bid project, creators acknowledge that the Sponsor is under no obligation to greenlight a bid. Though most open bid projects on our platform do move forward with a greenlit bid, we will notify you in the event the Sponsor decides not to fund any bids via the project forum. Regardless of the result, all open bid submissions will be reviewed and evaluated by the Sponsor and the project team.

In order to be considered for this project, you must include the below materials in your pitch submission. For examples of effective pitches, check out this gallery.

  • TEXT (REQUIRED): 500 characters or less synopsizing how you plan to approach and execute this video.

  • LINKS (REQUIRED): To your previous video work. Please specify your role (producer, director, cinematography, etc.) and DO NOT INCLUDE LINKS TO YOUR SHOWREEL. Please link to individual videos.

  • BUDGET (REQUIRED): This is an open bid project, so you’ll get to set your overall budget proposal. You can download the budget template here. The Sponsor would like each producer to create this suite of videos with a total cost range of $25,000-$35,000.

  • TREATMENT (REQUIRED): A detailed narrative description of what's going to happen in you videos. If it's helpful to you, we've provided a treatment template, which you can find here.

  • SCRIPT (Optional): This should include dialogue from the videos you intend to create.

  • STORYBOARDS (Optional): Additional concept art, storyboards, shot list, anything that helps get your point across. You can download the Tongal storyboard template here.

  • CONCEPT ART (Optional): Visual representations of the characters or world outlined in your concept. These are not required, but can be helpful in communicating your vision to the Sponsor.

  • PITCH VIDEO (Optional): This is your opportunity to be face-to-face with the Sponsor and show them what you're capable of. Consider submitting a pitch video in which you tell the Sponsor what they can expect should they choose your pitch. Also, test videos, animatics, etc. are welcome. For some examples of effective Pitch videos, check out this gallery. All Pitches will remain private until after the Sponsor gives creator(s) the green light to move forward.

The most compelling pitch may be greenlit, and upon completing the Winner Affidavit and the IP Assignment, the responsible creator will receive funding based on their approved budget. Please note: the payment of the pitch funds is subject to a payment schedule determined by Tongal. Please see the full payment schedule in the Assets section.
