Design a suite of fun and creative GIFs and stickers for Elysian Brewing’s social media.

GIFs and stickers are a big, fun part of how we all add a little flair to our social media posts, and Elysian Brewing wants to get in on the action with a suite of eight GIFs and stickers for Instagram Stories and Reels that bring some of their most iconic brand images to life in a fun, creative, shareable way.

Elysian takes pride in being irreverent and offbeat, with a nontraditional sense of humor; their brand, beers, and marketing are edgy, born-in-grunge, and promote a come-as-you-are attitude; they’re fun and creative, humorous and curious, unique without being pretentious or overly serious, with a respectful but playful nod to countercultures of the past (grunge, punk rock, a touch of steampunk...etc). That makes this your chance to create a suite of GIFs and stickers for a big nationally-distributed beer that doesn't play by the rules.

All styles and formats of animation are on the table: hand drawn, 8bit, 2D, 3D, collage…whatever your creative mind can conjure. You can mix-and-match styles within your suite as well, so don’t box yourself in! For your pitch, you’ll need to include 1-2 sample images or GIFs based off of or inspired by the materials in this folder. You can use these images to build your GIFs and stickers, or they can be inspiration for your own GIFs and sticker creations. Examples should be in line with Elysian’s character, style, and attitude – nothing too cutesy.

Never made a GIF before? No sweat! There are a number of ways you can go about designing and animating one, but it's probably best if you have Photoshop (or another photo editing software). Click here for a quick tutorial.

Elysian's shared some ideas and thought-starters to give you some creative direction. Check those out in the Background section, and for any questions or other project updates, check out the Project Forum.

DELIVERABLES: There are eight GIFs and eight Stickers.

  • Eight GIFs – see specs below
  • Eight Stickers (still images), one per GIF

TIMELINE: Click here for the project timeline.

EXPOSURE: Elysian's Instagram and social media pages and GIPHY. Please review the platform best practices page.

TARGET AUDIENCE: Craft beer drinkers, 21-54

TONE: Creative, irreverent, with a DIY feel; a little punk, a little edgy, NOT cutesy.

EXECUTIONAL MANDATORIES:

  • GIFs and Stickers must use or be based on the assets provided in this folder
  • Please refer to the ideas and thought-starters in the Background section for creative direction
  • This is for artists, animators, designers, editors, and makers; any medium can work, but animated approaches tend to work best, which means there's a preference for 2D animation, stop-motion animation, claymation, creative motion graphics, mixed media, etc. 3D animation is acceptable, but hyperrealistic VFX work is difficult given the timeline and budget, so you must show that you can execute within these parameters.
  • GIF specs:
    • To be considered a GIF or a sticker, at least 20% of the first frame must be transparent
    • Source file MUST be .GIF
    • Crop the canvas to fit the sticker
    • Do not include unnecessary borders or edges, as the background is meant to be transparent
    • You must design in RGB color mode
    • You must set the GIF to loop "forever" before exporting

By participating in this project, creators acknowledge that the Sponsor is under no obligation to greenlight a pitch. Though most projects on our platform do move forward with a greenlit pitch, we will notify you in the event the Sponsor decides not to fund any pitches via the project forum. Regardless of the result, all submissions will be reviewed and evaluated by the Sponsor and the project team.

To get you started, we'd love to see your take on these, but we're also open to any ideas that come to you:

ELYSIAN GIF IDEAS:

  • Dusty (the hop – not an artichoke – from the Space Dust IPA label) winking
  • Dusty blowing (space) dust
  • An Elysian pint glass filling
  • An Elysian pint glass emptying, leaving lacing (beer foam) behind
  • A Space Dust can taking off like a rocket
  • A Space Dust can or bottle opening, spraying foam
  • Beer flowing out from the Giant Pumpkin (use the provided photos as references)
  • A 'Fresh Beer' sign glowing neon
  • A fun, animated take on the 'Pour the Gourd' logo
  • A fun, animated take on The Night Owl artwork

In order to be considered for this project, you must include the below materials in your pitch submission. For examples of effective pitches, check out this gallery.

  • TEXT (REQUIRED): Up to 500 characters synopsizing how you plan to approach and execute the GIFs and stickers.

  • SAMPLE STICKER OR GIF (REQUIRED): Utilizing the provided assets, please provide one to two sample Stickers or GIFs demonstrating your approach to transforming the assets into engaging and fun GIFs and Stickers.

  • TREATMENT (REQUIRED): A detailed narrative description of what you're going to do. If it's helpful to you, we've provided a treatment template, which you can find here.

  • LINKS (REQUIRED): To your previous work. Please specify your role (producer, director, cinematography, etc.) and DO NOT INCLUDE LINKS TO YOUR SHOWREEL. Please link to individual videos.

  • PITCH VIDEO (Optional): This is your opportunity to be face-to-face with the Sponsor and show them what you're capable of. Consider submitting a pitch video in which you tell the Sponsor what they can expect should they choose your pitch. Also, test videos, animatics, etc. are welcome. For some examples of effective Pitch videos, check out this gallery. All Pitches will remain private until after the Sponsor gives creator(s) the green light to move forward.

The most compelling pitch will be greenlit, and the responsible creator will then receive an email from Tongal producers detailing next steps. All submitters will also receive an automated email notification that a selection has been announced. To ensure you’re receiving project updates, review your email settings to check that you haven’t unsubscribed.

Creators who’ve been selected will receive funding upon completing the Winner Affidavit and the IP Assignment. Payment of the pitch funds is subject to a payment schedule determined by Tongal.

PRE-PRODUCTION REQUIREMENTS: Prior to shooting, filmmakers must receive the below approvals from the Sponsor.

  • TREATMENT: This project requires treatment approval. The treatment should describe how you plan to execute each GIF. The Sponsor may provide feedback on your treatment and ask you to submit a new version. There may be multiple rounds of feedback until a treatment is approved by the Sponsor.

For your convenience, we’ve provided some helpful templates to use at your discretion. They include templates for creating a treatment, production budget, storyboards, shot list, call sheet, and a music cue sheet. Additionally, there are templates that will help you clearly present cast, location, and wardrobe options to the Sponsor. They can all be accessed here.

BUILDING YOUR TEAM: Tongal supports inclusivity in all of our productions and strongly encourages you to hire diverse talent for your team. To find staff & crew in your area, check out these resources and partners.

REVISION REQUIREMENTS: Once the Video Phase has closed, the greenlit submitters will enter the Revisions Phase. Filmmakers will perform reasonable edits on their videos according to the Sponsor’s feedback.
