Produce a visually engaging and high energy digital video that inspires athletes to try the new Quench Gum product that will help them reach their peak performance, known as "The Quench Moment".

Most people know Quench Gum for its bold, sour flavor that provides immediate relief of dry mouth, and naturally the brand drifted into the confectionary space where they delighted kids with its various flavors. But now the Quench Gum brand is looking to relaunch this summer by rebranding and repositioning into the sports space.

The brand owner, Mueller Sports Medicine, has already established the campaign idea - "The Quench Moment" - and is looking for a filmmaker to execute against it. They have provided a short sample script that they want the video to be based off, but you have the flexibility to further finesse and optimize it for digital/social. Make sure to check out the Background / Additional Details section to learn more about the campaign idea and short sample script. You can also find the Brand Guidelines (includes visual mood board, color palette, typography, etc.) in the Assets folder.

This video will focus on the Fruit Punch Quench Gum flavored product, but there are four total products you'll need to feature in the endcard. While this video should show active individuals and athletes achieving peak performance with their Fruit Punch Quench Gum during training and/or competition, you'll also need to show off the product features and benefits in a visually engaging way, so coming up with interesting visual GFX is important here. Additionally, you should also anticipate using VO talent to communicate the messaging, but if you have an idea to create this video without VO, then the client is open to seeing your creative suggestions. Make sure to check out the Executional Mandatories below for the requirements.

EXECUTIONAL MANDATORIES:

  • Product will only ship within the United States, so you must be able to receive the product within the US to submit.
  • Your video MUST show that the products is associated with athletics (e.g. running, jogging, cross-training, triathlons, marathons, racket sports). But NO football.
  • For casting, the brand encourages diversity and ages between 24-35. MUST have a minimum of 1 male and 1 female talent featured in the video, and the brand is open to group training / competition settings but please make sure it is COVID compliant.
  • Visual GFX is very important to show off the product benefits, some of the mandatory elements to focus on include:
    • Burst of flavors (focus on fruit punch flavor)
    • Hydration/water visuals quenching thirst/dry mouth
    • Red colored electrolytes
    • Boost of energy after the product has been taken
  • The still images can be captured from the video footage, and you will not need to light or dress your set differently than your main video creative for these images. However, you will need to follow the guidelines below in shooting for these images. With that said though, the brand doesn't need the video spot to cover these beats, they just want to make sure you get enough video footage in order to pull a variety of stills to cover the below requirements:
    • Athletic shot where consumers is at their “edge” – (running/triathlon ,etc)
    • Product usage - opening the package, popping it into their mouth
    • Burst of flavor visual
    • Hydration and water visual
    • Achievement shot – reaching the peak performance (i.e crossing finish line, passing a competitor, and the like, etc.)
    • Pack shots of all four Quench Gum products
  • You should anticipate using Voiceover talent to communicate the messaging, but if you have an idea to create this video without VO, then the client is open to seeing your creative suggestions
  • The hero product is the Fruit Punch flavor, and the remaining three flavors only need to be shown in the endcard
  • You are responsible for making the endcard with images provided in the Assets folder. The endcard MUST include a pack shot of all four flavored Quench Gum products. It should also include the tagline "Find your new peak" and drive viewers to purchase the product at www.quenchgum.com.

Shooting live action or stop motion? Our priority is ensuring everyone's safety, and we're now requiring a COVID safety protocol plan for all relevant productions. Please review our COVID-19 Production Safety Guide and check federal, state, and local rules before and during your shoot to make sure your on-set protocols are up to date. We’re working hard to keep people working during this extraordinary time, and you should ensure your submission is executable within the anticipated timeline and budget, while also ensuring everyone's safety

Quench Gum was launched as the original sports gum designed with a bold, sour flavor that provided immediate relief of dry mouth. It is rich with nostalgia, but the brand has drifted into the confectionary space.  It is ready for a relaunch with a new formula, packaging, and positioning into the sports space.  The product is distributed in sporting goods retailers such as Dick’s, Big 5, Dunham’s and Scheels.  It is also available in Target and online via Amazon and www.muellersportsmed.com.

Whether you're an active individual or a serious athlete, training for a marathon or triathlon, or just trying to shake off the quarantine weight gain, every athlete is looking for an 'edge' to help them reach their peak performance. The new Quench Gum formula is packed with electrolytes and bursting with flavor to eliminate dry mouth, so that active individuals and athletes can achieve that level of performance they desire.

  • TEXT (REQUIRED): 500 or fewer characters synopsizing how you plan to approach and execute this video.

  • TREATMENT (REQUIRED): A detailed narrative description of what's going to happen in the video. If it's helpful to you, we've provided a treatment template, which you can find here.

  • LINKS (REQUIRED): To your previous video work. Please specify your role (producer, director, cinematography, etc.) and DO NOT INCLUDE LINKS TO YOUR SHOWREEL. Please link to individual videos.

  • COVID PROTOCOL (REQUIRED): Please let us know your team’s COVID safety protocols for production. If you’re doing everything yourself, or your team will be working 100% remotely, let us know that this won’t apply. Otherwise, at the very minimum, your safety plan must include information about:
    • What city and state you plan to film in
    • Whether you are filming interiors or exteriors
    • Approximately how many people you plan to have on set
    • How you’ll account for testing, PPE, and distancing on set

    • Whether you’ll have a dedicated compliance officer on set

  • PITCH VIDEO (Optional but recommended): This is your opportunity to be face-to-face with the Sponsor and show them what you're capable of. Consider submitting a pitch video in which you tell the Sponsor what they can expect should they choose your pitch. Also, test videos, animatics, etc. are welcome. For some examples of effective Pitch videos, check out this gallery. All Pitches will remain private until after the Sponsor gives creator(s) the green light to move forward.

The most compelling pitch will be greenlit, and the responsible creator will then receive an email from Tongal producers detailing next steps. All submitters will also receive an automated email notification that a selection has been announced. To ensure you’re receiving project updates, review your email settings to check that you haven't unsubscribed.

Creators who’ve been selected will receive funding upon completing the Winner Affidavit and the IP Assignment. Payment of the pitch funds is subject to a payment schedule determined by Tongal. Please see the full payment schedule in the Assets section.

PRE-PRODUCTION REQUIREMENTS: Prior to shooting, filmmakers must receive the below approvals from the Sponsor.

  • SCRIPT: This project requires script approval before Producers move onto the Video Phase. Though you will be provided with a sample script draft, if you would like to suggest any edits/cuts/additions to the script - including but not limited to sound design, music, tone, setting - those will need to be approved before any filming can be done. The Sponsor may provide feedback on your script and ask you to submit a new version. There may be multiple rounds of feedback until a script is approved by the Sponsor.
  • STORYBOARD & GFX TREATMENT: This project requires storyboard approval before filmmakers move onto the Video Phase. The Sponsor may provide feedback on your storyboard and ask you to submit a new version. We will need to visually see show product elements such as the below and will require the Sponsor's approval:
    • The burst of flavor visual GFX (fruit punch flavors)
    • The hydration and water visual GFX
    • Red colored electrolytes GFX
  • CASTING: This project requires casting approval before filmmakers move onto the Video Phase. Tongal advocates for inclusivity in on-screen representation and diversity in casting. As a best practice, please submit three to four options per role, with at least one of those options being a person of color. If the Sponsor does not approve any of your options for a role, you may be asked to submit two new actor options. Additionally, owing to the risk of disruption from COVID, you will be expected to have backup talent approved by the Sponsor in advance of production to account for any last-minute changes.
  • LOCATION: This project requires location approval before filmmakers move onto the Video Phase. This means you will need to submit multiple images of your primary filming location. The Sponsor may provide feedback on your location and ask you to submit additional photos or to find a new location and submit images for that.
  • WARDROBE: This project requires wardrobe approval before filmmakers move onto the Video Phase. You will need to submit descriptions and/or pictures of your cast’s wardrobe. You must submit at least two wardrobe options per role. If the Sponsor does not approve either of your options for a role, you may be asked to submit two new wardrobe options.

BUILDING YOUR TEAM: Tongal supports inclusivity in all of our productions and strongly encourages you to hire diverse talent for your team. To find staff & crew in your area, check out these resources and partners.

For your convenience, we’ve provided some helpful templates to use at your discretion. They include templates for creating a treatment, production budget, storyboards, shot list, call sheet, and a music cue sheet. Additionally, there are templates that will help you clearly present cast, location, and wardrobe options to the Sponsor. They can all be accessed here.

REVISION REQUIREMENTS: Once the Video Phase has closed, the greenlit submitters will enter the Revisions Phase. Filmmakers will perform reasonable edits on their videos according to the Sponsor’s feedback.
