Create a mix of four unique short videos or still image social assets that can be used on Paramount-owned social channels to promote their upcoming movie Paws of Fury and introduce everyone to their new, fun characters.

Let me tell you a tail. This June, Paramount Pictures, is set to release the family friendly action comedy, PAWS OF FURY: THE LEGEND OF HANK. A hard-on-his-luck hound Hank (Michael Cera) finds himself in a town full of cats who need a hero to defend them from a ruthless villain's (Ricky Gervais) evil plot to wipe their village off the map. With help from a reluctant teacher, Jimbo (Samuel L. Jackson) to train him, our underdog must assume the role of town samurai and team up with the villagers to save the day. Also starring Mel Brooks, George Takei, Aasif Mandvi, Gabriel Iglesias, Djimon Hounsou, Michelle Yeoh, Cathy Shim and Kylie Kuioka. PAWS OF FURY: THE LEGEND OF HANK pounces into theatres July 2022.

To celebrate the new movie, Paramount is looking for engaging, thumb-stopping, and just plain paw-some social content that celebrates the film in three fun different posts centered around the introducing the characters and themes of the movie. In addition, Paramount is also looking for one general Caturday post highlighting the cats of the film. We really want clever executions here that are not afraid to play up the puns, incorporate animal humor, and make these characters memorable in an appropriate and tasteful manner. While this is an animated feature, we are looking for posts that are geared towards teenagers and parents, so don't feel the need to be childish or too cute in your artwork. In success, there's the possibility that these posts continue after these 4 initial ideas, so you can consider framing your concept as a repetitive weekly series.

Paramount is looking for a single talented creator to produce four unique assets - including stills or short video content - that can be used on Paramount-owned social media channels. This movie take place in a town FULL of cats so we of course want to highlight all the funny, ferocious, and furry felines featured in the film

In terms of executions, the paw-sibilities are endless! We're open to seeing creative executions for everything from stop motion & animation, to motion graphics, to paper craft, to photography or low-fi lifestyle content, and everything in between. Not to mention, other creative executions like memes, frame breaking, makers content, comic slicing, or even AR filters! Do you have a cute dog or cat with a movie star personality? Include them in your pitch!  Executions should feature Paws of Fury characters, but how they are incorporated is up to you. While you have access to official reference images of the characters and artwork from the film, as well as trailer assets, the expectation is that you will be creating the characters yourself to fit the creative concept you submitted.

For your pitch, we're asking that you include at least 1 creative concept per social post in your treatment (4 total). These creative concepts should illustrate the potential creative approach you would plan to execute for each post, along with any specific characters you would plan to feature, so make sure to show off your purr-sonality through your pitch. You can mix & match format and execution depending on what would work best for each post (for example, you could pitch a stylized meme for the Caturday post featuring characters from Paws of Fury, and a claymation approach to introduce the various characters like Hank).

It's strongly recommended that the creative execution for each day category feel different and unique. Paramount is NOT looking for 4 assets that are similar in style and approach. Each asset should be able to stand on its own while still feeling on brand for Paws of Fury. We encourage you to check out the Background section for more information about the characters.

While Paramount is primarily looking for one creator to make all 4 assets, there is a chance Paramount may want to "mix and match" ideas from different creators. If that's the case, Tongal will reach out to those creators individually to work out a revised budget based on your bid to create all 4 assets.

Shooting live action or stop motion? Our priority is ensuring everyone's safety, and we're now requiring a COVID safety protocol plan for all relevant productions. Please review our COVID-19 Production Safety Guide and check federal, state, and local rules before and during your shoot to make sure your on-set protocols are up to date. We're working hard to keep people working during this extraordinary time, and you should ensure your submission is executable within the anticipated timeline and budget, while also ensuring everyone's safety.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS

  • Hank (Michael Cera): From fumbling Fido to fearless friend, Hank bumbles, barks, and battles hisway to becoming a true Samurai. The lone dog in a world of cats, Hank proves it doesn’t matter what you look like on the outside, what’s important is who you are on the inside.
  • Jimbo (Samuel L. Jackson): Once famed, now shamed, this former master Samurai is now the cat- nipped cat of Kakamucho. Reluctantly honouring his Samurai oath, Jimbo mentors Hank. And through their friendship, the lost cat finds himself.
  • Ika Chu (Ricky Gervais): The ultimate narcissistic baddie, his dream of building the grandest palace in the land is threatened by the town of Kakamucho. He will stop at nothing to wipe “that eyesore” off the map.
  • Emiko (Kylie Kuioka): A white-hot ball of feline fury, Emiko may be small, but her fighting spirit is huge. She embodies everything it means to be a true Samurai.
  • Sumo (Djimon Hounsou): Though this towering tabby fights with brute force, Sumo is “just a prawnin the ocean of life.” Sent to destroy Kakamucho, he is won over by Hank’s kindness and finds enlightenment on his journey.
  • Ohga (George Takei): Ika Chu’s right-hand cat, he would do anything to please his beloved leader... especially wiping “that eyesore” of a town off the map.
  • Yuki (Michelle Yeoh): Like all good mamas, Yuki is fiercely protective of Emiko. Behind her stern façade is a heart full of love which bursts with pride for what she knows her daughter can achieve.

In order to be considered for this project, you must include the below materials in your pitch submission. For examples of effective pitches, check out this gallery.

  • TEXT (REQUIRED): 500 characters or less synopsizing how you plan to approach and execute these videos or static assets.

  • TREATMENT (REQUIRED): A detailed narrative description of what's going to happen in the social assets. For the purposes of the Pitch stage, we're asking that you include at least 1 creative concept per social post in your treatment. These creative concepts should illustrate the potential creative approach you would plan to execute for each holiday, along with any specific characters you would plan to feature. If it's helpful to you, we've provided a treatment template, which you can find here.

  • LINKS (REQUIRED): To your previous video and design work. Please be sure to also provide examples of any past social videos or static assets you have created. Please specify your role (producer, director, cinematography, etc.) and DO NOT INCLUDE LINKS TO YOUR SHOWREEL. Please link to individual videos.

  • BID (REQUIRED): Please submit your bid for this project. The sponsor would like each producer to create all four social assets for up to $6,000 total. Please note that you only need to submit your bid - you do not need to submit a full budget proposal for this project.

The most compelling pitch will be greenlit, and the responsible creator will then receive an email from Tongal producers detailing next steps. All submitters will also receive an automated email notification that a selection has been announced. To ensure you’re receiving project updates, review your email settings to check that you haven’t unsubscribed.

Creators who’ve been selected will receive funding upon completing the Winner Affidavit and the IP Assignment. Payment of the pitch funds is subject to a payment schedule determined by Tongal. Full payment schedule.
