Using primarily motion graphics, create a suite of short social and digital videos that highlight the new features on the award-winning WeightWatchers app, and then drive new users to sign up for the program.

*Motion graphics not your jam? Check out this other WeightWatchers brief about ZeroPoint Foods*

For over 60 years, WeightWatchers has helped millions of people lose weight, but the OG sustainable weight loss program isn't stuck in the 1960s - far from it. Over that time, the program has been updated and improved based on the latest nutritional and behavioral science. Now, when it comes to weight loss, people in 2023 are looking for tools that help make the journey easier. Thankfully, WeightWatchers has an award-winning app that makes achieving your weight loss goals easy, livable, and sustainable. Better yet - the app has recently been updated with new features that makes things easier still, so all you have to do is live.

To highlight the evolved WeightWatchers app and its new features, WeightWatchers is looking to produce a suite of short social and digital videos using primarily motion graphics. This will involve four distinct videos, each requiring multiple aspect ratios, and we're expecting that these videos will begin by showing the app in relatable lifestyle situations, and then transition to motion graphics to demonstrate the different new app features. Each of the four videos should have its own unique creative concept, but every video should position WeightWatchers as a digital-first, modern leader in weight health technology, before ultimately driving new users to sign-up. WeightWatchers is looking to greenlight at least TWO different creators, who will each create four unique assets in various formats, and they're hoping for different and unique approaches.

These videos should NOT look like ads. The goal is entertain and educate new and current users about the benefits of the WeightWatchers app by showing that it takes the guesswork out of weight loss. They are also NOT looking for conventional recipe-focused videos that you see on their organic Instagram or TikTok pages. Instead, we want to see a more unique and visually creative perspective that incorporates motion graphics, clever editing techniques, and other fun filmmaking tricks.

There are three key messages that WeightWatchers wants to highlight, and two of them involve the new features:

  • General "new app" messaging - Show the value the WeightWatchers app can offer and how it works. Present the app as the perfect solution for the biggest barrier when it comes to changing eating habits and losing weight: the belief that it's going to take too much work and restriction.
  • New "What to Eat" feature - This takes the guesswork out of eating & helps you choose what to eat both inside and outside of the house. For more info, check out this video.
    • Recommended recipes from over 13k meal ideas
    • Recipe suggestions based on what you have on your fridge
    • At-home and restaurant meal suggestions
  • New "My Progress" / "Trends" feature - A place to view weekly progress towards key actions: food, weight, activity tracking and days within your Points budget. Each week the member can reflect on building key tracking habits, how you’re spending your Points, and see how these behaviors impact your weight. For more info, check out this other video.

This project has a fast-moving timeline, so for your pitch submission, we are asking that you include at least 1 creative concept per video in your treatment (i.e. 4 total concepts). With that being said, the more ideas, the better! These concepts should illustrate the creative approach you would plan to execute for each video, along with any specific app features you plan to feature. There will not be a pre-production phase for this project, so your creative concepts should be thorough and clearly explain your vision for each video. WeightWatchers will provide greenlit filmmakers with access to the WeightWatchers app and screenshots of app screens, if necessary.

For your sample video, please create one short :15 video that demonstrates your motion graphics style. Your sample video should be created in a 9x16 aspect ratio and highlight one of the new app features listed above. If helpful, WeightWatchers also encourages you to submit multiple sample videos as a part of your pitch, which you can upload to the submission form as a video stringout.

By participating in this project, creators acknowledge that the Sponsor is under no obligation to greenlight a submission. Though most projects do move forward, we'll notify you in the event the Sponsor decides not to fund any submissions via the Project Forum. Regardless of the result, all submissions will be reviewed and evaluated by the Sponsor and project team.

For 60 years, WeightWatchers has helped millions of people lose weight. Over that time, they've innovated and improved their program based on the latest in nutritional and behavioral science. The WeightWatchers app has been updated, and the program has evolved to fit the needs of members - but, importantly, at the end of the day WeightWatchers has always been a sustainable, flexible path to weight loss rooted in the power of community. No cutting out food groups, no extreme dieting, no one-size fits all approach.

Why People Love WeightWatchers:

  • Livability - New app features and tools that make the program flexible to fit into your lifestyle, so that you can live your life while still following the program and losing weight.
  • Ease - The program and app features and tools that take the guesswork out of nutrition and the question “what should I eat?" making it easy to follow the program and lose weight, while still being able to eat what you love.
  • Sustainability - The program helps you better manage your weight over time, leading to better health outcomes through teaching you how to make healthier food choices. App features and tools, like "What to Eat," guide you toward healthier eating to help you build habits that last.

In order to be considered, include the below materials in your submission. For examples of effective pitches, check out this gallery. All Pitches remain private, even after a Pitch is selected, and Tongal strives to have Pitch selections made by the end of the Evaluation period, but additional time may be required by the Sponsor, depending on any number of factors.

  • TEXT (REQUIRED): Up to 500 characters synopsizing how you plan to approach and produce the content listed out in the Deliverables.

  • TREATMENT (REQUIRED): A more detailed and specific description of how you propose to execute all of the content listed out in the Deliverables, both in terms of what we can expect to see, and how you’ll make it. For the purposes of the Pitch phase, we are asking that you include at least 1 creative concept per video in your treatment (i.e. If it's helpful to you, we've provided a treatment template, which you can find here.

  • SAMPLE VIDEO (REQUIRED): Please submit ONE short :15 sample video (9x16) based on the information provided in the Objectives section. If helpful, WeightWatchers also encourages you to submit multiple sample videos as a part of your pitch, which you can upload to the submission form as a video stringout.

  • LINKS (REQUIRED): To your previous video work. Please specify your role (producer, director, cinematography, etc.) and DO NOT INCLUDE LINKS TO YOUR SHOWREEL. Please link to individual videos.

The most compelling pitches will be greenlit by the Sponsor, and the responsible creators will then receive an email from Tongal producers detailing next steps. All submitters will also receive an automated email notification that a selection has been announced. To ensure you’re receiving project updates, review your email settings to check that you haven’t unsubscribed.

Creators who’ve been selected will receive funding upon completing the Winner Affidavit and the IP Assignment. Payment of the pitch funds is subject to a payment schedule determined by Tongal, typically included with the project timeline.

Video or photo content from Storyblocks is available at no charge, solely for incorporation into submissions on this project, and will not require a separate Release Form. If identifiable people or intellectual property appears in a video clip or photo, you may only utilize assets that are clearly marked “Model released: Yes” or “Property release: Yes” on the clip description pages. You may not use any audio.
