Craft a live action suite of YouTube videos that have a creative yet informative touch in addressing DIY home-improvement topics while using various Loctite® adhesive products.

NOTE: The pre-production phase moves very quickly. Please pay special attention to that window in the project timeline.

Founded in 1956, Loctite® is a pioneer in making innovative adhesive products, but you may know them best as the brand responsible for Super Glue. They have consistently been on the cutting edge, making materials used by professional contractors and tradespeople, as well as the everyday DIY-ers, and it's that second category that's important here. While we all like to feel like we can do everything ourselves, we usually need a little help with a task we're unfamiliar with, and if you want to patch something up or stick two things together, but you're not 100% sure you're using the right adhesive, the right amount, or even applying it the correct way, that's where Loctite comes in. Loctite wants to develop a series of eye-catching How To videos to bring people both general guidance and some very specific product education, with the goal of building out their YouTube channel and making it a one-stop shop.

The goal of this project is create a live action suite of six entertaining but informative How To videos, each covering a different topic. These videos can stand alone, but they should feel cohesive in look & feel. As these videos are geared towards the DIY-er, we'll need an approach that is clear, digestible, and accessible for a broad audience, regardless of skill level. The brand does want to see on-screen talent utilizing the product, whether that means it's a real personality driven piece led by talent speaking directly to camera, or there are just close-ups of a professional's hands and arms shown being carried by voiceover is up to you. Loctite will provide rough scripts with key messaging points to leverage. It will be up to you to deliver the messaging points however you think is best and they may require a little work to help with the overall flow making them feel cohesive. The brand is focused on live-action approaches only and the use of stylized motion graphics and on-screen text to further help carry the visuals is required.

Whatever the execution, it will be required to be filming someone that has experience with some of the products, tools, and mediums. The rough scripts are currently being worked on, but you can find the topics below in the Background. Some videos, like the "What Glues What?" video, may need the full 2 minute runtime, but others can be shorter. The "What Glues What?" and "Simple Solutions" videos may have slightly different structures to them but should follow the same look & feel of the greater How To videos. These are not videos about Loctite's product line, but instead videos about common DIY information that feature Loctite products and branding. These videos don't need to be shot on a set full of Loctite colors and logos - but it should still feel ownable by the Loctite brand.

There is also a need for a photographer who can capture stills of the location and the product(s) being used in the scenarios being covered in the videos to be leveraged for marketing materials and social posts. For quality and clarity, they would prefer to not pull stills from the edit and instead want to have a photographer capture the product/tools in action so additional set ups won't be necessary.

Each video should have a 16x9 version as well as a 9x16 version. While the cutdowns can be created with direct pulls from the main hero videos, some thought should be put into how the 9x16 versions will be optimized for vertical; as they should not simply be a center-cut reframing.

In the Background, Loctite has provided some reference videos to familiarize you with their brand voice and visuals, as well as some examples of other existing How To videos that they've seen, with some of their thoughts. For any questions or other project updates, check out the Project Forum.

Regardless of the result, all submissions will be reviewed and evaluated by the Sponsor and the project team.

Shooting live action or stop motion? Our priority is ensuring everyone's safety, and we're now requiring a COVID safety protocol plan for all relevant productions. REFERENCE VIDEOS FOR INSPIRATION:

In order to be considered for this project, you must include the below materials in your pitch submission. For examples of effective pitches, check out this gallery.

  • TEXT (REQUIRED): Up to 500 characters synopsizing how you plan to approach and produce the content listed out in the Deliverables.

  • TREATMENT (REQUIRED): A more detailed and specific description of how you propose to execute all of the content listed out in the Deliverables, both in terms of what we can expect to see, and how you’ll make it. If it's helpful to you, we've provided a treatment template, which you can find here.

  • LINKS (REQUIRED): To your previous video work. Please specify your role (producer, director, cinematography, etc.) and DO NOT INCLUDE LINKS TO YOUR SHOWREEL. Please link to individual videos.

  • COVID PROTOCOL (REQUIRED): Please let us know your team’s COVID safety protocols for production. If you’re doing everything yourself, or your team will be working 100% remotely, let us know that this won’t apply. Otherwise, at the very minimum, your safety plan must include information about:
    • What city and state you plan to film in
    • Whether you are filming interiors or exteriors
    • Approximately how many people you plan to have on set
    • How you’ll account for testing, PPE, and distancing on set
    • How you’ll handle talent and backup talent, including any hair, make-up, and wardrobe needs
    • Whether you’ll have a dedicated compliance officer on set

  • APPRENTICESHIP ADVISOR (Optional): The Tongal On-Set Apprenticeship Program is an opportunity to support new & emerging talent in production positions with hands-on on-set experience. Please indicate on the pitch submission form if you would be interested in overseeing an apprentice on your production; your answer will neither increase nor decrease the likelihood of your pitch being greenlit. Tongal will cover the apprentice's day rate outside of your project budget, and if you are matched with an apprentice, your Tongal producer will reach out with more information. To learn more about the On-Set Apprenticeship Program and the responsibilities of an advisor, please click HERE.

  • SCRIPT (Optional): This should include dialogue from the video you intend to create.

  • HEADSHOTS/CASTING BOARDS (Optional): Casting notes or concepts, headshots of actors, etc.

  • PITCH VIDEO (Optional): This is your opportunity to be face-to-face with the Sponsor and show them what you're capable of. Consider submitting a pitch video in which you tell the Sponsor what they can expect should they choose your pitch. Also, test videos, animatics, etc. are welcome. For some examples of effective Pitch videos, check out this gallery. All Pitches will remain private until after the Sponsor gives creator(s) the green light to move forward.

The most compelling pitch will be greenlit, and the responsible creator will then receive an email from Tongal producers detailing next steps. All submitters will also receive an automated email notification that a selection has been announced. To ensure you’re receiving project updates, review your email settings to check that you haven’t unsubscribed.

Creators who’ve been selected will receive funding upon completing the Winner Affidavit and the IP Assignment. Payment of the pitch funds is subject to a payment schedule determined by Tongal, which you can find HERE.

PRE-PRODUCTION REQUIREMENTS: Prior to shooting, filmmakers must receive the below approvals from the Sponsor.
