We’re looking to create on-disc bonus content for the Halloween (2018) DVD and Blu-ray, and to market the home entertainment release on digital and social platforms.
We received over 200 amazing concepts from the Halloween (2018) Bonus Content Concepts project and are looking to YOU to bring them to life!
Serving as a direct sequel to the original movie, Halloween (2018), starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Nick Castle, will be launching in theaters this October.
Working with Tongal, Universal wants to see your pitches on the following winning concept from the previous project:
Understanding Horror
Similar to popular YouTube channels like Nerdwriter or Every frame a painting. Create original short video essays that dive deep into the culture of horror and how it has such a deep hold on us. And how movies like Halloween craft horror so well. For survival, explore why the fear of death is so important. Pure evil, does it really exist? Look into past examples that are horrifying because they are true. The fear of betrayal and how it is used in story, etc.
Note: The sponsor is not interested in real life killers or necessarily examining individual scenes in movies that would require licensing etc. Instead, want to talk to fans of the genre. Why do you love being scared? Why does the culture of horror have such a deep hold on us?
Please avoid humor or campiness in your pitch.
Please read below for important information:
Pre-Production:8/17 - 8/22
Production: 8/22 - 9/4
Rough cuts turned in: 9/4
What to Submit in Your Pitch:
If your pitch is greenlit you will need to provide the following pre-production approvals before moving into production:

LOCATION (If Applicable) - This project requires location approval (if applicable) before filmmakers move onto the Video Phase. This means you will need to submit multiple images of your primary filming location. The brand may provide feedback on your location and ask you to submit additional photos or to find a new location and submit images for that.
MUSIC - This project requires music approval. Please submit a tentative cue sheet before moving into production.
Delivery specs for pitch winners:
Once your initial piece is produced, the sponsor may ask you to create an additional :15 - :30 cut-down for social. Please see specs below:
These would not be due on the same timeline as the longer on-disc versions. Please include this in your budget proposal as a potential add-on.
