Create a :30 TrueView video for Aventon, a leading retailer of ebikes (electric bikes).

The goal of this project is to create a :30 live action video that introduces viewers to the Aventon brand, shows a variety of great ways their ebikes can be used out in our world, and ends with a call-to-action driving viewers to their website to learn more and SHOP NOW!

In these times, we’re really seeing a bike boom! Bikes are not just for recreation anymore, or a way to get from point A to point B. Ebikes are empowering us to get out, get some fresh air and beat that cabin fever. That's why your video should showcase the real world benefits to owning an Aventon ebike and the great usage you can get out of your ebike to replace your car!

**Aventon is going to give you TWO ebikes to use in your video and keep for yourself (included in the Prize Pack)!**

Check out more information on the Ebikes, along with a few thought-starters, down in the Background / Additional Information section.

ALSO, Aventon can provide gear and accessories for your video -- SEE HERE! -- like companion seats, dog and kid trailers, baskets, fenders, racks, etc. Check out the equipment on their website and include the requests in your Pitch!

DELIVERABLES: Four total deliverables:

  • One :30 video (16x9)
  • Three alternate :30 versions (16x9). Alternate variations will involve the same characters, locations, and script, and will mostly involve small changes that can be handled in post-production, including changes to CTAs, end-card designs, on-screen text copy, and other minor edits. Additionally, depending on where the creative lands, a version may include a slight variation to the script. This will be decided between the selected producer and client during scripting.

TIMELINE:  For the full project timeline please see the Assets section.

EXPOSURE:  YouTube. For YouTube TrueView for action best practices please click here.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

  • Men Ages 44-54 & Women 44-65+.  Affluent. The demo skews more heavily male than female.
  • Highlight Diversity! We want to be inclusive in the creative and use models that look like Aventon's audience.
  • Here's a trend worth noting: Aventon is seeing men buy ebikes for their significant others, so they can ride together.

TONE:  Happy, exciting, life-changing, emotional, joyful!

EXECUTIONAL MANDATORIES:

  • Safety First! Any footage that shows a character riding the Aventon ebike should include a rider WEARING A HELMET. This is critical. Also, the helmet should not be from a competing product or brand. In pre-production, you may be asked to submit a video of your actors wearing the helmets to make sure they’re on correctly. In every scene that features an Aventon ebike, there should be a helmet in frame, for example hanging on the handle bars.
  • Please do not name competitors.
  • This project is for US-based creators only.
  • The TWO Aventon ebike models you MUST highlight in your video are The Level and The Sinch. More information about each ebike model can be found in the Background section below.
  • Your videos must conclude with the following CTAs:
    • Shop Now!
    • Free Shipping on Orders $100+
    • Affirm Financing - Buy an Ebike With Easy Monthly Payments

Our priority is ensuring everyone's safety, so please review our COVID-19 Production Safety Guide and check federal, state, and local rules before and during your shoot to make sure your on-set protocols are up to date. We’re working hard to keep people working during this extraordinary time, and our advice here is to make sure your submission is executable within the anticipated timeline, while also ensuring everyone's safety.

Aventon is an esteemed national fixed bike retailer that's recently shifted their entire inventory to ebikes and they’re seeing tremendous success. Their top-performing ebikes are relaxing and fun to ride — plus, their powerful motors propel you faster and further than traditional bikes!

Aventon’s mission is to empower everyone to ride bikes regardless of their age or ability. They are passionate about bikes because they believe that bikes change lives through the freedom of mobility. They are fully committed to building the best-value bikes in the industry that are fun to ride without compromising quality, durability, and comfort.

Curious about how an Aventon ebike works? You can pedal on them like a normal bike, you can activate the THROTTLE ASSIST if you want a little boost WHILE you're pedaling, or you can go FULL THROTTLE and stop peddling completely.

They want to showcase the versatility of these bikes and help people to see that these bikes are for everyone -- especially for people who might not have the stamina for a traditional bike ride!

THOUGHT-STARTERS:

-- When thinking about real-world ways Aventon consumers are using their ebikes,  consider things like:

  • grabbing groceries
  • running errands
  • picking up medication
  • commuting between home and work/school

…and you don’t even have to find parking or fill up your tank!

-- Additionally, Aventon ebikes are climate conscious, eco-friendly and energy-efficient, helping to reduce your carbon footprint and lessen the effects of climate change!**

-- Many of Aventon's customers say "I feel like a kid again" when riding their ebikes. They also talk about how they can ride a bike again after many years of not riding, because an ebike takes the pressure off the body and lets them ride without fear of strain and pain. People of all walks of life can ride an ebike -- riders with MS, riders who've had knee surgery or hip replacements. They also hear stories of how Aventon ebikes have brought couples together, because now the wife that was afraid to ride with her husband because she was worried she couldn't keep up, is now able to ride with him using the Aventon ebike, and they are taking adventures together!

THE EBIKES YOU MUST FEATURE IN YOUR VIDEO ARE:

The LEVEL (traditional & step through)

The SINCH (foldable fat tire)

  • Interested in all-terrain ebike riding? Check out the Sinch folding fat tire ebike. ,
  • [Note: The SINCH is more popular for people riding on diverse terrains. It's an adventure bike with fat tires that are good for colder climate weather and is often used in rural areas, commuting to a different kind of work or picking up groceries. And it's foldable so it can be stowed away! Think about how you might demonstrate this in your video.]

Please allow time for bike delivery (3-5 days) and set up (1-3 hours per ebike), as you map out your production timelines.

REFERENCE VIDEOS:

Here are some of Aventon’s ads for you to review... but it's important to note that even though these videos lean younger, Aventon is hoping to appeal to an older demo (Age 45+) with this specific project, so the look/tone/feel of your pitch & video should reflect that.

In order to be considered for this project, you must include the below materials in your pitch submission. For examples of effective pitches, check out this gallery.

  • TEXT (REQUIRED): 500 characters or less synopsizing how you plan to approach and execute this video.

  • LINKS (REQUIRED): To your previous video work. Please specify your role (producer, director, cinematography, etc.) and DO NOT INCLUDE LINKS TO YOUR SHOWREEL. Please link to individual videos.

  • TREATMENT (REQUIRED): A detailed narrative description of what's going to happen in the video. If it's helpful to you, we've provided a treatment template, which you can find here.

  • SCRIPT (Optional): This should include dialogue from the video you intend to create.

  • STORYBOARDS (Optional): Additional concept art, storyboards, shot list, anything that helps get your point across. You can download the Tongal storyboard template here.

  • HEADSHOTS/CASTING BOARDS (Optional): Casting notes or concepts, headshots of actors, etc.

  • PITCH VIDEO (Optional): This is your opportunity to be face-to-face with the Sponsor and show them what you're capable of. Consider submitting a pitch video in which you tell the Sponsor what they can expect should they choose your pitch. Also, test videos, animatics, etc. are welcome. For some examples of effective Pitch videos, check out this gallery. All Pitches will remain private until after the Sponsor gives creator(s) the green light to move forward.

The most compelling pitch will be greenlit, and upon completing the Winner Affidavit and the IP Assignment, the responsible creator will receive funding. Please note: the payment of the pitch funds is subject to a payment schedule determined by Tongal. Please see the full payment schedule in the Assets section.

PRE-PRODUCTION REQUIREMENTS: Prior to shooting, filmmakers must receive the below approvals from the Sponsor.

  • SCRIPT: This project requires script approval before filmmakers move onto the Video Phase. The Sponsor may provide feedback on your script and ask you to submit a new version. There may be multiple rounds of feedback until a script is approved by the Sponsor.
  • HEADSHOT: This project requires headshot approval before filmmakers move onto the Video Phase. You must submit at least two actor options per role. If the Sponsor does not approve either of your options for a role, you may be asked to submit two new actor options.  Tongal advocates for inclusivity in on-screen representation and diversity in casting. As a best practice, please submit three to four options per role with at least one of those options being a person of color.
  • STORYBOARD: If you are doing an animated video this project requires storyboard approval before filmmakers move onto the Video Phase. The Sponsor may provide feedback on your storyboard and ask you to submit a new version.
  • LOCATION: This project requires location approval before filmmakers move onto the Video Phase. This means you will need to submit multiple images of your primary filming location. The Sponsor may provide feedback on your location and ask you to submit additional photos or to find a new location and submit images for that.
  • WARDROBE: This project requires wardrobe approval before filmmakers move onto the Video Phase. You will need to submit descriptions and/or pictures of your cast’s wardrobe. You must submit at least two wardrobe options per role. If the Sponsor does not approve either of your options for a role, you may be asked to submit two new wardrobe options.

For your convenience, we’ve provided some helpful templates to use at your discretion. They include templates for creating a treatment, production budget, storyboards, shot list, call sheet, and a music cue sheet. Additionally, there are templates that will help you clearly present cast, location, and wardrobe options to the Sponsor. They can all be accessed here.

REVISION REQUIREMENTS: Once the Video Phase has closed, the greenlit submitters will enter the Revisions Phase. Filmmakers will perform reasonable edits on their videos according to the Sponsor’s feedback.

MUSIC: Tongal has partnered with three premiere music providers: Jingle Punks, Universal Production Music and Epidemic Sound, any of which can be used to source music for your video submission to this project. Music from these providers is available to registered Tongal members at no charge solely for their incorporation into submissions to this project and will not require a separate Music Release Form. To learn more about using each of these music providers, click on any of the providers’ names above.
