A Tongal filmmaker is looking for a motion graphic artist or animator to help them create original motion graphics for an informative and engaging live-action video series about vitamins and supplements featuring a Nature Made expert.

A talented filmmaker has just been greenlit for a live-action Nature Made video series, and as part of the new "Tap Into Tongal" program that we're rolling out, we're helping her find a 2D animator or motion graphic artist that can join her team and breath life into the visuals that will be a critical part of the series. The content itself is an educational but dynamic five-part explainer series about Nature Made vitamins and supplements, and it'll be hosted by nutrition expert Dr. Susan Mitmesser, who'll address many of the questions that people have about how vitamins and supplements work, how they can be helpful, what they're made of, etc.

We're looking for someone who can develop everything from basic transition effects, kinetic text, titles, and branding, to more complicated informational visuals, like a depiction of a vitamin's mechanism of action, or the basic chemical structure of vitamin C. The final videos will be approximately 2-3 minutes long, and we anticipate that the graphics will appear onscreen alongside Dr. Susan in support of her dialogue, not as full-screen cutaways, although there may be a few instances of that. The goal is that these visuals will be clear and easy to understand - rather than overly scientific or technical. You'll certainly want something colorful and dynamic, but you should maintain the polish and credibility of the brand.

If it's helpful, you can review the filmmaker's original pitch HERE, and an abridged brand style guide HERE. We'll have more flexibility to be creative than what you see in the style guide, so that's just a baseline. If you're selected, you'll work directly with the filmmaker in developing the creative approach, and the brand will review your graphics treatment. You won't be responsible for delivering any actual videos though; just the graphic assets.

With that in mind, we'd like to see someone who can work collaboratively, and we'll want to see relevant samples of previous motion graphic work that you think could be relevant. You may also feel free to mock up concept art as well in your treatment.

CREW FINDER & TAP INTO TONGAL

"Crew Finder" is part of a new initiative we're taking called "Tap Into Tongal," where we're offering Tongalers the ability to pitch on a client project and - if selected - tap back into the Tongal community to source crew for their production. In this project, a filmmaker's already been given the greenlight to create videos for the brand, but they need someone like you to build out their crew and bring a specific skillset to the table. We're helping them run this project, and Tongal will handle your payment and paperwork, but this filmmaker will ultimately select who they want to partner with, and if they select you, they'll provide you with creative guidance & timing during production. You can "Tap Into Tongal" on other projects too, so if you see something that you could ace with just the right partner, consider this, and maybe we'll run a "Crew Finder" project for you. For any questions, email iwanyk@tongal.com for more.

In order to be considered for this project, you must include the below materials in your pitch submission. For examples of effective pitches, check out this gallery.

  • TEXT (REQUIRED): Up to 500 characters synopsizing how you plan to approach and execute the motion graphics for this video.

  • TREATMENT (REQUIRED): Feel free to give a sample or an illustration of a visual approach that you might take for these videos, and provide options or a written description of what you'd like to do, what else you're capable of, and any other information that you think would be helpful in considering you, your team, or your work. If it's helpful to you, we've provided a treatment template, which you can find here.

  • LINKS TO PREVIOUS MOTION GRAPHIC WORK (REQUIRED): Please specify your role and DO NOT INCLUDE LINKS TO YOUR SHOWREEL. Please link to individual videos.

  • PITCH VIDEO (Optional): This is your opportunity to be face-to-face with the filmmaker and show them what you're capable of. Consider submitting a pitch video in which you demonstrate what they can expect should they choose your pitch. Test videos, animatics, etc. are welcome. For some examples of effective Pitch videos, check out this gallery. All Pitches will remain private until after the Sponsor gives creator(s) the green light to move forward.

The most compelling pitch will be greenlit, and the responsible creator will then receive an email from Tongal producers detailing next steps. All submitters will also receive an automated email notification that a selection has been announced. To ensure you’re receiving project updates, review your email settings to check that you haven’t unsubscribed.

Creators who’ve been selected will receive funding upon completing the Winner Affidavit and the IP Assignment. Payment of the pitch funds is subject to a payment schedule determined by Tongal.

PRE-PRODUCTION REQUIREMENTS: Prior to shooting, filmmakers must receive the below approvals from the Sponsor.

  • GRAPHICS TREATMENT: This project requires graphic treatment approval. The treatment should describe how you plan to execute the motion graphics and how you plan to bring the storytelling to life visually. The Sponsor may provide feedback on your treatment and ask you to submit a new version. There may be multiple rounds of feedback until a treatment is approved by the Sponsor.

BUILDING YOUR TEAM: Tongal supports inclusivity in all of our productions and strongly encourages you to hire diverse talent for your team. To find staff & crew in your area, check out these resources and partners.
