With a shoot in Washington D.C., create a set of playful videos that highlight the perks of an Industrious workspace through scripted interviews that feature talent in a wardrobe that brings Industrious member personas to life.

NOTE: This project must be shot at one of two approved locations in the Washington D.C. area. No additional budget for travel will be provided.

Industrious creates everyday workplace experiences for their members — members that range from freelancers to employees of small to medium and even enterprise businesses. From the dedicated on-site staff that greet you at the door with a smile, to the world-class amenities delivered in a relaxed but professional atmosphere, they strive to be the workplace where you feel like you belong. In order to visually illustrate this in a playful manner, they want to highlight the details that make Industrious stand out through a suite of scripted interview content with personifications of different member personas.

The goal of this project is to create both video content, and static images, that show off what makes Industrious unique - in a playful way - through scripted interviews. One of the most important things to consider here will be the wardrobe. As each character will have limited time on screen, Industrious wants their wardrobe to convey elements about their character that we don't have time to cover in the script. The wardrobe should be authentic and realistic, while having subtle quirks unique to their character. The wardrobe should make their member personas instantly identifiable without distracting from the Industrious space itself. We are requiring a wardrobe stylist for this shoot. We strongly recommend that you speak to how you would approach the wardrobe of these personas in your pitch. For a few example personas, check out the Background. There will be 4 personas in total, which will be chosen in collaboration with the Industrious creative team.

You'll be casting actual actors to play each member persona, and they'll need to answer a series of questions in character about why they love Industrious, with each answer corresponding to the feature that their persona is built around. You'll be helping the Industrious team develop these personas for the screen. These scripted interviews should be filmed in a casual way, as if someone caught them off-guard during a normal workday, or if they were delivered to camera selfie-style. So while they should be polished, they should feel casual and user-generated. Overall the tone of the interviews should be fun, energetic, and a little quirky. Each character video should end in a surprising moment that ties into the character — for example, for the dog lover persona, the dog could jump up to lick the cameraman forcing the screen to go black.

A couple additional notes to keep in mind. While you will be editing into 16x9, the :15s will also be repurposed into social content so as you are shooting you should keep in mind to keep the subject matter within a 9x16 safe zone. On casting, the Industrious team definitely wants to feature the Dog Lover persona, so please consider and speak to how you would cast the dog in your pitch.

There will be one :30 hero video featuring all member personas, and that should globally convey how Industrious truly is the workplace where you feel like you belong. Each persona will also get it's own video, and in addition to the videos, they'd also like to capture these member personas in the Industrious space with a dedicated photographer, utilizing and enjoying the amenities of the location. These must be taken by a dedicated stills photographer, who will need to deliver two edited stills per character. These must abide by Industrious' Photo Guidelines. Photos will need to be retouched, but we will also be collecting all stills and video captured on the day of the production. Any photographer you bring on must agree to transfer full rights to Industrious in perpetuity for all photos taken.

For any questions or other project updates, check out the Project Forum.

EXAMPLE VIDEOS FOR TONE:

Industrious loves the organic, fun feel of these and how they  captures the personalities of the actors.

In order to be considered for this project, you must include the below materials in your pitch submission. For examples of effective pitches, check out this gallery.

  • TEXT (REQUIRED): Up to 500 characters synopsizing how you plan to approach and produce the content listed out in the Deliverables.

  • TREATMENT (REQUIRED): A more detailed and specific description of how you propose to execute all of the content listed out in the Deliverables, both in terms of what we can expect to see, and how you’ll make it. If it's helpful to you, we've provided a treatment template, which you can find here.

  • LINKS (REQUIRED): To your previous video work. Please specify your role (producer, director, cinematography, etc.) and DO NOT INCLUDE LINKS TO YOUR SHOWREEL. Please link to individual videos.

  • SCRIPT (Optional): This should include dialogue from the video you intend to create.

  • STORYBOARDS (Optional): Additional concept art, storyboards, shot list, anything that helps get your point across. You can download the Tongal storyboard template here.

  • PITCH VIDEO (Optional): This is your opportunity to be face-to-face with the Sponsor and show them what you're capable of. Consider submitting a pitch video in which you tell the Sponsor what they can expect should they choose your pitch. Also, test videos, animatics, etc. are welcome. For some examples of effective Pitch videos, check out this gallery. All Pitches will remain private until after the Sponsor gives creator(s) the green light to move forward.

  • APPRENTICESHIP ADVISOR (Optional): The Tongal On-Set Apprenticeship Program is an opportunity to support new & emerging talent in production positions with hands-on on-set experience. Please indicate on the pitch submission form if you would be interested in overseeing an apprentice on your production; your answer will neither increase nor decrease the likelihood of your pitch being greenlit. Tongal will cover the apprentice's day rate outside of your project budget, and if you are matched with an apprentice, your Tongal producer will reach out with more information. To learn more about the On-Set Apprenticeship Program and the responsibilities of an advisor, please click HERE.

The most compelling pitch will be greenlit, and the responsible creator will then receive an email from Tongal producers detailing next steps. All submitters will also receive an automated email notification that a selection has been announced. To ensure you’re receiving project updates, review your email settings to check that you haven’t unsubscribed.

Creators who’ve been selected will receive funding upon completing the Winner Affidavit and the IP Assignment. Payment of the pitch funds is subject to a payment schedule determined by Tongal.

PRE-PRODUCTION REQUIREMENTS: Prior to shooting, filmmakers must receive the below approvals from the Sponsor.

  • SCRIPT: This project requires script approval. The Sponsor may provide feedback on your script and ask you to submit a new version. There may be multiple rounds of feedback until a script is approved by the Sponsor.
  • CASTING: This project requires casting approval. Tongal advocates for inclusivity in on-screen representation and diversity in casting. As a best practice, please submit three to four options per role, with at least one of those options being a person of color. If the Sponsor does not approve any of your options for a role, you may be asked to submit two new actor options. Additionally, owing to the risk of disruption from COVID, you will be expected to have backup talent approved by the Sponsor in advance of production to account for any last-minute changes.
  • STORYBOARD: This project requires storyboard approval. The Sponsor may provide feedback on your storyboard and ask you to submit a new version.
  • WARDROBE: This project requires wardrobe approval. You will need to submit descriptions and/or pictures of your cast’s wardrobe. You must submit at least two wardrobe options per role. If the Sponsor does not approve either of your options for a role, you may be asked to submit two new wardrobe options.
  • STYLIST: This project requires wardrobe stylist approval. Once your pitch is greenlit, the Sponsor may either approve your stylist or ask you to submit a new one for approval.

For your convenience, we’ve provided some helpful templates to use at your discretion. They include templates for creating a treatment, production budget, storyboards, shot list, call sheet, and a music cue sheet. Additionally, there are templates that will help you clearly present cast, location, and wardrobe options to the Sponsor. They can all be accessed here.

BUILDING YOUR TEAM: Tongal supports inclusivity in all of our productions and strongly encourages you to hire diverse talent for your team. To find staff & crew in your area, check out these resources and partners.

REVISION REQUIREMENTS & RESOURCES: Once the Video Phase has closed, the greenlit submitters will enter the Revisions Phase. Filmmakers will perform reasonable edits on their videos according to the Sponsor’s feedback. Check out our Filmmaker Resource Portal to access helpful post-production resources like Text-Safe Guides for different platforms, Project File Organization Tutorial, Export Presets, and Captioning services.

MUSIC: If you use any music from a library for your content, you MUST use one of Tongal's three music providers - Jingle Punks, Universal Production Music and Epidemic Sound. Music from these providers is available to registered Tongal members at no charge solely for their incorporation into submissions to this project, and will not require a Music Release Form. To learn more about using each of these music providers, click on any of the providers’ names above.

If you choose to use custom or original music, you must fill out and submit our Music Release Form. Please ensure your composer reviews and signs this form BEFORE beginning their work.
