Edit three slightly different versions of a :10-:15 video for Call of Duty Mobile using existing assets.

Your main goal is to drive awareness that Activision's blockbuster video game Call of Duty is now available on mobile, using these assets provided here. These three video assets will be used in a Facebook study to understand whether different kinds of messaging lead to more brand conversions. Your three videos will communicate the new mobile feature of the game through three distinct lenses: one focused on the product, one on the rational value, and one on the emotional takeaway.

While the videos will be identical in length, pacing, and visual identity, the distinction will come through in the messaging that we use. Across the three videos, the imagery will change slightly to reflect the different messaging - but all will have the same end card.

Check out the Background/Additional Details for more information about the three messaging variations. You will choose ONE of these to create your sample video.

DELIVERABLES:

  • Three :10-:15 videos (4x5) differentiated along the following themes:
    • Product-focused
    • Rational value
    • Emotional takeaway

Check out this reference video that gives an overview of the benefit testing study and provides examples of how the three assets should be differentiated creatively.

TIMELINE: For the full project timeline please see the Assets section.

EXPOSURE:

  • Facebook and Instagram in-feed

TARGET AUDIENCE:

  • Fans of Call of Duty
  • Fans of Gaming

TONE:

  • Exciting and fun

EXECUTIONAL MANDATORIES:

  • The assets need to be the same length and feature product/messaging that hits at the same time and the same placement.
  • Assets need to use the same style of imagery and branding (i.e. use of logo, fonts, and colors).
  • Assets need to focus on the same benefit feature (in this case, that Call of Duty is now available on mobile).
  • Videos must be informed by Facebook & Instagram Best Practices.
  • Leverage onscreen text to reinforce messaging, make sure the text is big enough to be seen in mobile.
  • On-screen copy should be no more than 125 characters total in a single frame, preferably fewer.

Here's a breakdown of the three different messaging variations. You will choose ONE of these to create your sample video.

Product Feature: Ad communicates purely about the product benefit

  • Messaging: "Call of Duty: Mobile has console-level graphics and gameplay."
  • Visuals should feature full-screen gameplay, such as killstreaks, a game that is being won, menus, or intro videos. Just make sure it is actual gameplay.

Rational Feature: Ad communicates facts, such as product facts and benefits

  • Messaging: "Play Call of Duty anywhere."
  • Visuals should feature gameplay on a phone preferably in different locations.

Emotional Feature: Ad communicates emotional motivators such as how it changes you as a person, how it makes you feel

  • Messaging: "Dominate the world with your squad on Call of Duty: Mobile."
  • Visuals should feature either someone playing with friends or a squad playing together. An example of how this might be portrayed would be through the use of splitscreen.

PRE-PRODUCTION REQUIREMENTS: Prior to editing, editors must receive the below approvals from the Sponsor.

  • STORYBOARD: This project requires storyboard approval before filmmakers move onto the Video Phase. These can be done as photo-boards. The Sponsor may provide feedback on your storyboard and ask you to submit a new version.

For your convenience, we’ve provided some helpful templates to use at your discretion. They include templates for creating a treatment, production budget, storyboards, shot list, call sheet, and a music cue sheet. Additionally, there are templates that will help you clearly present cast, location, and wardrobe options to the Sponsor. They can all be accessed here.

REVISION REQUIREMENTS: Once the Video Phase has closed, the greenlit submitters will enter the Revisions Phase. Filmmakers will perform reasonable edits on their videos according to the Sponsor’s feedback.

MUSIC: Tongal has partnered with three premiere music providers: Jingle Punks, Universal Production Music and Epidemic Sound, any of which can be used to source music for your video submission to this project. Music from these providers is available to registered Tongal members at no charge solely for their incorporation into submissions to this project and will not require a separate Music Release Form. To learn more about using each of these music providers, click on any of the providers’ names above.

If you choose to use custom/original music, you must fill out and submit our Music Release Form. If you obtain music from third-party catalog providers, you must purchase the appropriate license at your own expense and submit it with your license purchase receipt when you turn in your video paperwork.
