Promote the Agatha Christie Collection for Australian audiences by editing together clips from the Agatha Christie shows now streaming on BritBox
When it comes to the Queen of Mystery, Agatha Christie is the go-to for iconic characters, memorable plots, intricate puzzles, and unexpected twists. The ability to weave together complex storylines made her a master of the mystery genre which resulted in so many shows adapting her novels to create thrillers that you want to watch time and time again. When it comes to where to watch the best collection of Agatha Christie novels, Australian audiences can now turn to BritBox, which not only has the largest streaming collection of British crime dramas, but is now adding an exclusive collection of Agatha Christie mysteries to their roster. We need to get the word out.
The goal of this project is to create a :30 social video that features scenes from the Agatha Christie titles that Australian audiences can watch on BritBox. You'll want a compelling edit that encourages both new viewers and current subscribers to binge their favorite mysteries, and you'll also want to communicate that with the new collection, BritBox will become "the Home of Agatha Christie," with the largest collection available in Australia. As you dive in, you'll probably see that the BritBox team has created similar Agatha Christie videos before, but we're looking for a fresh new approach here, and one that works particularly well for social. You'll find some of those existing spots in the Background, along with some other specific key messaging that should be included.
Your edit should feel clever and surprising, taking the audience on a small journey that connects the different shows through a steady storyline, dialogue, or common theme. Consider the way in which Agatha Christie wrote her original stories, which were well known for the way they included unexpected twists, and see if you might be able to capture something like that with your own edits. Since these are social first videos, you will need to focus on grabbing attention fast, and then you'll want to keep a steady energy to keep audiences enthralled until the very end. Pacing is important too, but your edit really needs to feel seamless, so think about trying to establish some consistency in the cuts through dialogue and messaging, sound, music, or another key element. We'd encourage you to think of ways to incorporate additional imagery, graphics, or text, like in this previous video, layering footage with graphics to captivate the audience. If you are including VO or text, you may want to lean into why and how entertaining these mystery shows can be. Importantly, you CANNOT use the music included in scenes, but you can include any of the dialogue or sound effects from any of the shows or movies.
Critically, you must also work within the Adobe Suite for this project, and for your pitch submission, we're looking for you to edit a :15-:30 sample video to display how you would cut together the different clips dynamically and interestingly. We won't be able to provide assets for the initial pitch, feel free to scour YouTube and any other sources you have for the footage you need to build your edit. However, once greenlit, you can only use footage provided by the BritBox team to ensure they have full rights and you are using the high-res footage.
