Create the second season of the Best Fiends Video Game YouTube series introducing new characters and now in 16-bits!

The goal of this project is to create the second season of the Best Fiends Video Game Series. The first season paid homage to classic games of the 8-bit era, but for season 2, our fiends will be moving into the 16-bit generation (SNES and Genesis). The new season should delight hardcore gaming fans and Best Fiends players alike, featuring new secrets, levels, and characters all told through the Best Fiends lens.

Your pitch for season 2 should be built around the following story: Kwincy and JoJo have been stuck in a video game merry-go-round with the Devourer Slug. Now it's time for Temper & Vega to join the quest and save them.

DELIVERABLES:

  • Eight (8) episodes at 2-3 minutes in length
  • Eight (8) 15-Second 1:1 "Coming Soon" trailers
  • Eight (8) 15-Second 1:1 "Watch Now" trailers (These can be the same as the above, but with different copy)
  • Eight (8) still images from the video

TIMELINE: Should your pitch be selected to move forward, and based on the details of your proposal, we will coordinate a full production timeline.

EXPOSURE:

  • YouTube (Episodes)
  • Social Media (Trailers)
  • Best Fiends Mobile Games

Please check out this page for more information on Social Media best practices.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

  • Current Best Fiends players, women and men, who are 18-50
  • Old school video game fans

TONE:

  • Think “Minions” or “The Simpsons” – funny yet subversive and playful.

EXECUTIONAL MANDATORIES:

  • Will collaborate with Seriously and Tongal teams to identify classic 16-bit titles to base each episode on.
  • Keep in mind, the sponsor is NOT looking for mashups or other concepts that explicitly make use of third-party IP (such as games like Pac-Man), but rather concepts that are inspired by these old school games, i.e. a focus on the nostalgic look/feel rather than calling out individual games.
  • No CGI/3D animation.
  • May NOT include spoken dialogue or VO from the fiend characters.
  • May NOT show fiend personalities. Would also be careful about showing extreme emotional reactions such as shock, anger, dramatic crying, etc. – make sure it does not reveal too much about the fiend’s personality. We want to avoid anything that speaks to the backstory or lives of the fiend characters.  You can, however, show subtle versions of fiend personalities, especially when they may or may not be assuming characteristics of the game environment around them.
  • This is an Open Bid project, so you will get to set your own budget proposal within the $40,000-$65,000 range. Seriously is interested in seeing tiered pricing options, so please feel free to submit various versions of your pitch at budget, target, and reach price points within that price range.

By participating in this Open Bid project, creators acknowledge that the Sponsor is under no obligation to select a winning Bid. Though most Open Bid projects on our platform do move forward with a selected Bid, we will notify you in the event the Sponsor decides not to award any Bids via the Project Forum. Regardless of the result, all Open Bid submissions will be reviewed and evaluated by the Sponsor and the Project Team.

REFERENCE VIDEOS FOR INSPIRATION OR TONE:

In order to be considered for this project you must include the below materials in your Pitch submission. For examples of effective Pitches, check out this gallery.

  • TEXT (REQUIRED): 500 characters or less synopsizing how you plan to approach and execute this Video.

  • LINKS (REQUIRED): To your previous video work. Please specify your role (producer, director, cinematography, etc.) and DO NOT INCLUDE LINKS TO YOUR SHOWREEL. Please link to individual videos.

  • TREATMENT (REQUIRED): A detailed narrative description of what's going to happen in the video. If it's helpful to you, we've provided a Treatment template, which you can find here.

  • BUDGET (REQUIRED): This is an open bid project, so you’ll get to set your overall budget proposal. You can download the Budget template here. The Sponsor would like each producer to create 8 episodes and 16 trailers with a cost range of $40,000-$65,000 for the project.

  • WRITER & SCRIPT OUTLINE (REQUIRED): Highlight who your writer will be and their past work. Script Outline should be a one page outline of an episode including dialogue from the video you intend to create.

  • STORYBOARDS (Optional): Additional concept art, storyboards, shot list, anything that helps get your point across. You can download the Tongal storyboard template here.

  • Pitch Video (Optional): This is your opportunity to be face-to-face with the Sponsor and show them what you're capable of. Consider submitting a Pitch video in which you tell the Sponsor what they can expect should they choose your Pitch. Also, test videos, animatic, etc. are welcome. For some examples of effective Pitch videos, check out this gallery. All Pitches will remain private until after the winner of the Video Phase is announced.

The most compelling Pitch will be selected and, upon submitting the Winner’s Affidavit and the IP Assignment, will receive payments to help create the Videos. Please note the payment of the Pitch award is subject to a payment schedule determined by Tongal.
