Beauty Product Refresh Video Project
Pitch Qualification
07/19/19 - 07/24/19
Pitch
07/25/19 - 07/31/19

Create short, visually dynamic, videos introducing skincare products by highlighting the product ingredients.

We are looking to you to create visually stunning, fashion-oriented, videos presenting skincare products and their main ingredients in high-end and exciting ways. With a budget range of $40-55K, these videos will be used as standalone visual teasers as well as recut and used in other promotional content.

Using the below concepts as a starting off point, your pitch should describe your take on these visual executions that show the relationship between the ingredients and the product. All creative directions are on the table, so long as your videos are executable without models, voice-over, or on-screen text.

Concept 1: Diving in

Visualize ingredients and the products as textural layers, whether they are swirled, kaleidoscopic, or otherwise, with the camera and product splashing through each layer. The idea is to evoke depth, give each element its own environment, and to allow for visually stunning transitions.

Concept 2: Contrast

Using high-res slo-mo, macro lenses, or reverse motion, shoot close-ups of ingredients mixing/colliding with other surfaces, elements, and the products to create a synthetic feeling of the product benefits. For example, a viscous liquid contacting a ridged surface rendering it smooth.

This is a Pitch Qualification project. Filmmakers are required to provide a 500 character or less summary of why they would be a good fit for executing creative for the Mystery Sponsor along with any links to relevant past work by you and/or your production team (be sure to specify your role).  Up to 5 filmmakers will be selected from the Pitch Qualification phase and will be paid $500 each to create a full Pitch detailing their creative vision.  Please see the Submissions Requirements section for what you will need to submit to be considered. If the Sponsor elects to move forward with a submitted Pitch the total production budget could be up to $55,000.

DELIVERABLES: Eight (8) short, 30-60 second, videos. One for each different product.

TIMELINE: For the full project timeline please see the Assets tab.

EXPOSURE: Videos will appear on social media, retail websites, and retail stores.

TARGET AUDIENCE: Millennial skincare consumers ages 18-35

TONE:  Fun, Sexy, Cool, but Real

EXECUTIONAL MANDATORIES:

  • Videos must be executable without on-screen text, voice-over, or models
  • If your Pitch calls for it, a hand model could be used to pick up/open product, etc.
  • Videos must be executable in short form (30 seconds to 1 minute)
  • Crew with fashion experience is a must along with a Fashion oriented stylist
  • Mystery Sponsor may wish to attend shooting, so plan accordingly and check out this blog post.

  • This is an Open Bid project, so you will get to set your own budget proposal within the $40,000- $55,000 range. The Sponsor is interested in seeing tiered pricing options, so please feel free to submit various versions of your pitch at budget, target, and reach price points within that price range.

By participating in this Open Bid project, creators acknowledge that the Sponsor is under no obligation to greenlight a Bid. Though most Open Bid projects on our platform do move forward with a greenlit Bid, we will notify you in the event the Sponsor decides not to fund any Bids via the Project Forum. Regardless of the result, all Open Bid submissions will be reviewed and evaluated by the Sponsor and the Project Team.

This is a skin product brand that is fashion-oriented and premium, helping their customers to realize their own individual beauty. Your videos will essentially be setting the tone and feel for future executions so think of them as trailers to a larger picture. Take a look at the below reference videos for inspiration and tone.

In order to be considered for this project you must include the below materials in your Pitch submission. For examples of effective Pitches, check out this gallery.

  • TEXT (REQUIRED): 500 characters or less synopsizing how you plan to approach and execute this Video.

  • LINKS (REQUIRED): To your previous video work. Please specify your role (producer, director, cinematography, etc.) and DO NOT INCLUDE LINKS TO YOUR SHOWREEL. Please link to individual videos.

  • PITCH VIDEO (Optional): This is your opportunity to be face-to-face with the Sponsor and show them what you're capable of. Consider submitting a Pitch video in which you tell the Sponsor what they can expect should they choose your Pitch. Also, test videos, animatic, etc. are welcome. For some examples of effective Pitch videos, check out this gallery. All Pitches will remain private until after the Sponsor gives creator(s) the green light to move forward.

Please note the payment of the Pitch funds are subject to a payment schedule determined by Tongal. Please see the full payment schedule in the Assets tab.

PITCH REQUIREMENTS: Greenlit filmmakers must submit the following:

  • PITCH VIDEO/RIP REEL: You must submit a Pitch Video or a Rip Reel that shows the Sponsor what they can expect should they choose your Pitch. This is your opportunity to “introduce” yourself to the Sponsor and walk them through your approach in more detail. Test videos, animatics, etc are also welcome. For some examples of effective Pitch videos, check out this gallery. All Pitches will remain private until after the Sponsor gives a creator the green light to move forward.

  • STYLIST: This project requires a Stylist Approval before filmmakers move onto the Video Phase. You must submit your planned Stylist with your Pitch submission. Once your pitch is greenlit, the brand may either approve your Stylist or ask you to submit a new one for Approval.
