Produce both a short 2D animated promotional video and a longer, in-depth, live-action product overview video, shot against a white studio background, for the premium personal digital security company IPVanish.
Most VPNs offer a simple on/off switch for privacy, but for the power users, streamers, and privacy advocates who demand more, IPVanish provides the entire control panel. The brand goes beyond standard VPN functionality by offering unmatched flexibility and user empowerment in addition to other privacy and security tools, positioning themselves as the VPN of choice for anyone who values transparency and control. The goal of this project is to create two distinct videos: a short, energetic, animated promotional video meant to drive viewers to click through to the IPVanish website to make a purchase; and a second, longer, more educational, live-action overview video that features on-camera talent introducing the key features of the IPVanish privacy and security ecosystem. While the formats and goals are different, both should feel like they come from the same trusted, user-focused brand.
The promotional video will be a snappy and concise 2D animated video that captures the attention of privacy-conscious consumers, and gets them to click through to the IPVanish site to start a subscription. The focus of the promo video should be on broad, tangible benefits like secure streaming and the ability to safely connect to content from anywhere, rather than a dense list of technical features. It needs to briefly present the digital security risks people face in their everyday online lives in order to IPVanish as the simple, powerful solution. Additionally, as many VPN account holders use it to access streaming content from outside their region, your script should cleverly hint at the value of changing virtual locations. Since we can't explicitly call this out though, you'll have to strongly hint at it by using phrases such as "you can access global content" and drive the message home with supporting visuals, e.g. screens shown around a globe implying global streaming access. Apart from that, you can find a list of other forbidden terms under executional mandatories.
Ultimately, the promotional video is where you have the most opportunity to be creative. You'll want to think about clever ways to make this video stand out in a crowded digital media space, while still communicating the key benefits of IPVanish to the average consumer. Overall, messaging should emphasize security, privacy, and accessibility, and the key will be to quickly communicate how IPVanish can secure your digital life without compromising on things you value, like buffer-free streaming speeds. In terms of execution, you should complement 2D animation with voiceover to tackle the messaging, and while that animation should primarily be original work, you may use some UI elements from IPVanish, as well as any branded icons that you see on their website or their app. Your approach does not need to feature specific characters or human figures, although they're open to a character led video.
The live-action product overview video is more specific and executional. This video will serve as an informative resource speaking to the full features of IPVanish. We expect an on-screen talent to be filmed against a clean, white backdrop, reading through an approved script that details the full features of the IPVanish privacy and security suite. You'll need to create a dynamic split-screen experience in the edit, pairing the host's walkthrough with screen recordings of the IPVanish UI to demonstrate exactly what they're describing. This video is meant to be a deep dive into the software’s unique selling propositions, so your script must clearly explain technical features like the Kill Switch, Double Hop, Split Tunneling, and Threat Protection, alongside privacy initiatives like their verified no-logs policy and unlimited device connections. Reference the Executional Mandatories below for a detailed list of all features that must be included in this video.
You should cast a single talent who will serve both as the on-screen host for the overview and the voiceover artist for the promotional video. We're looking for someone who sounds confident, familiar, and knowledgeable—an authoritative but friendly voice you would inherently trust. It's also important to note that you will be responsible for creating all screen recordings on Android and Mac desktop platforms, using a test account and user-flow guides provided by the IPVanish team. Given the technical nature of the content, all scripts will require thorough review and final approval from the Sponsor.
In your pitch, please outline your creative approach for BOTH the animated promotional video and the live-action overview video. We want to see how you'll tackle each unique challenge while maintaining a consistent brand feel.

EXECUTIONAL MANDATORIES:
IPVanish is designed to be a single, comprehensive solution for an individual's or family's entire digital life. A core creative pillar is that security and internet freedom shouldn't be limited to just one device. To that end, IPVanish is available across virtually every platform a modern consumer uses. This includes dedicated, user-friendly apps for all major desktops and laptops like Windows, macOS, and Linux, as well as mobile devices running iOS and Android. The service extends protection into the living room with apps for popular streaming media players, including Amazon Fire TV Stick, Apple TV, and Android TV. Crucially, a single IPVanish account provides unmetered connections, allowing users to secure every single one of these devices simultaneously without limitation.
This universal compatibility unlocks a world of possibilities. A user can seamlessly switch from browsing securely on their laptop to streaming a geo-blocked show on their smart TV, all while their family members are protected on their own phones and tablets. For total home protection, IPVanish can even be configured on compatible routers, blanketing every device on the network—from gaming consoles to smart home gadgets—in a layer of security. This creates effortless, all-encompassing protection for every use.
In order to be considered, include the below materials in your submission. For examples of effective pitches, check out this gallery. All Pitches remain private, even after a Pitch is selected, and Tongal strives to have Pitch selections made by the end of the Evaluation period, but additional time may be required by the Sponsor, depending on any number of factors. Unless specifically requested, there's no need to include a budget with your submission.
The most compelling pitch will be greenlit by the Sponsor, and the responsible creator will then receive an email from Tongal producers detailing next steps. All submitters will also receive an automated email notification that a selection has been announced. To ensure you’re receiving project updates, review your email settings to check that you haven’t unsubscribed.
Creators who’ve been selected will receive funding upon completing the Winner Affidavit and the IP Assignment. Payment of the pitch funds is subject to a payment schedule determined by Tongal, typically included with the project timeline.
PRE-PRODUCTION BIBLE & APPROVALS: Prior to the commencement of actual production, creators MUST prepare a singular pre-production "bible" document with the elements contained below, and that document MUST receive final approval from the Sponsor. We recommend that you use the bible template we provide HERE, or something very similar. The bible can be presented in stages as different elements are ready for review (i.e. it's not expected that storyboards, if required, are ready with your first draft). Apart from the below, you're also welcome to include other key items that you think would be helpful to communicate your plan (e.g. moodboards, lighting, music, shot list, etc.).
Note that there may be multiple rounds of feedback until elements are approved, and if you begin production before you have received final approval, you may need to reshoot or reanimate at your own expense.
For convenience, we've provided some helpful templates that you can consider using for pre-production materials, and they can all be accessed here.

MUSIC: If you use music from a library for your content, you MUST use one of Tongal's music providers: Universal Production Music, PrimalHouse, or Slipstream Music. Music from these providers is available to registered Tongal members at no charge solely for their incorporation into submissions to this project, and will not require a Music Release Form. To learn more, click on any of the providers' names above.
If you use original music, you must fill out and submit our Music Release Form. Please ensure your composer reviews and signs this form BEFORE beginning their work.
STOCK FOOTAGE: Tongal has partnered with the stock footage library Storyblocks, which can be used to source video clips, photography, and After Effects templates for your video submission to this project. Video or photo content from Storyblocks is available at no charge, solely for incorporation into submissions on this project, and will not require a separate Release Form. If identifiable people or intellectual property appears in a video clip or photo, you may only utilize assets that are clearly marked “Model released: Yes” or “Property release: Yes” on the clip description pages. You may NOT use any audio.
If you intend to use Storyblocks, inform your Tongal producer, and an account will be created for you to access the library. Once assets are approved for delivery, you must provide a complete list of all Storyblocks content that you used via our template HERE.
ASSET DELIVERY REQUIREMENTS & RESOURCES: You must also provide all project files, editing sequences and a 1080p .mov master file, using a ProRes, Animation, or Uncompressed Codec in order to submit final payment. You are responsible for any costs associated with the hard drive and shipping. Tongal also reserves the right to request all raw files associated with the project.
