It’s fitting that the theme for the Tongies IV Awards was ‘Rock n’ Roll’. Like all the best rock stars, this year’s show was glamorous, unpredictable, entertaining, a little bit debaucherous, and a whole lotta fun!
From the planned moments (The ‘I’m with the Band’ photobooth! The My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream bar! The contortionist opening act!) to the unscripted surprises (Oops, our live stream didn’t work! Is that Dan Aykroyd?!?), Tongies IV delivered an unforgettable night for all our guests, community members, and clients.
At the core, this annual event is all about the work and talent of the Tongal community. In total, eleven Tongie awards were handed out, four Tongalers were inducted into the Tongal Hall of Fame, and we celebrated our very first member of the Tongal Millionaire Club for community members that have received over $1 million in payments (that honor went to Pixeltown Arts). We also announced our partnership with AbelCine which will give our filmmaking community even more resources to make great content. More details of this exciting partnership will be made available very soon!
While we encourage you to explore all the 2017 winners on the Winner’s Page, we’d also like to give a special shoutout to The Indie Machines and Caleb Van Voorhis (of Van Voorhis Productions) for taking the top honors of Tongaler of the Year and Ideator of the Year, respectively. As an added surprise for being named Tongaler of the Year, AbelCine awarded The Indie Machines with $6,000 towards their next gear rental.
Our two other wonderful sponsors, Jingle Punks and Killer Tracks also played a vital role in helping us put on the best show possible. Raise your hand if you enjoyed the ice luges situated near the bar or the Led Zeppelin cover band that got everyone up and dancing!
With the event behind us, we can now turn our focus to awarding some record players to the winners of the #Tongies4 social giveaway! After much deliberation, Tongal judges are pleased to announce that the winners are:
Caleb Van Voorhis: @CalebVanV
Pangur Animation: @Pangur_Animation
Federico Fracchia: @fedefracchia
A.J. Schraeder: @unstoppablefailure
Congrats to our winners! We'll be in touch about shipping your prize soon. And if you haven't already looked, the #Tongies4 hashtag on Instagram is a treasure trove of awesomeness. Check it out!
We’ll have even more official photos and videos to share in the coming weeks, but we’ll leave you with this gif of our Tongal Team arriving at Tongies IV. Thanks to everyone who made the 2017 Tongies one for the ages!
