Create three different promotional trailers that entices viewers to tune in for their favorite detective shows: Vera, Father Brown, and Death in Paradise, all streaming on Britbox now.
Whether you like to investigate murder from the solitude of your dilapidated farm house, or from an island, or alongside your local priest; BritBox has all your favorite detective shows available for streaming. Vera, Father Brown and Death in Paradise are incredibly high performing shows and true fan favorites, and every season of each series is now available to watch on BritBox. To get the word out, we're looking for a savvy editor who can dive into a library of existing clips from the three series and weave together a suite of 3 different show trailers, each driving North American viewers to indulge themselves in a little escapism, as they join these fan favorite detectives in their ongoing adventures.
The goal of this project is to cleverly edit together three different :15 promotional edits, each featuring one of the three shows, and each using a existing clips, to get audiences excited and let them know that they can watch these series on BritBox now. To get a sense of what we are looking for with this edit take a look at this example the team liked which is a great mix of show clips and typography. BritBox has some additional examples of similar promotional work that they like or have created in the past in the Background, along with the key messaging for these videos and brief descriptions of each show, so we'd recommend checking those out. The BritBox team even made a Favorite Detectives Promo earlier this year that showcases each of the series together in one edit, and you can use that to see how they handle the tone of these shows.
In terms of the editing style, you should put a lot of thought into how you'll integrate motion text and typography into the clips, since the key messaging should be front and center, and it should feel aligned with the tone of the show that you're highlighting. While we are certainly talking crime and murder, you should also look for ways to incorporate a little lightness here by looking to include a few humorous moments from the shows, or by finding clever ways to integrate dialogue from the shows, as that will help communicate how enjoyable these shows can really be, and why audiences have come to love them. Feel free to play with sound effects, text transitions, frames within frames, and maybe even work in stock footage or graphic effects if they feel fitting to the edit - without taking away from the show visuals themselves.
Critically, you must work within the Adobe Suite for this project, and for your pitch submission, we're looking for you to edit a :15 sample video to display how you would cut together the different show clips dynamically and in an interesting and unexpected way. You should use the provided clips from the below assets, but if you happen to find other moments from the shows that you think would be a good fit for your edit, feel free to include them and we can get the high-res footage from BritBox during pre-production.
