Create original video content for Tongal’s YouTube Channel based on one of five different established formats.

The Tongal Community consists of incredible creators and content makers, and over the years has continued to grow, with over 30,000 Subscribers on its YouTube Channel. Now we’re giving you the creative freedom to let your out-of-the-box ideas fly and play around and in the process, showcase your work to everyone and help us grow our community at the same time.

We’re asking you to create videos for Tongal’s YouTube Channel, working off any of the formats below - and note, we’ve provided additional information about each in the Background/Additional Details:

  • Creative Trend Videos

  • Tips & Tricks Videos

  • Remix Videos

  • Tour Videos

  • Everyday Life, If Directed By...

All we ask is that you either inform, entertain, or both, and that creativity is at the heart of your content. We are open to considering already existing content for the channel, as well as multi-video series formats, and we're also open to taking a look at ideas and concepts that aren't yet fully formed, so we’re happy to help you develop something that has potential. Look below at our reference videos to see the level of diversity we’re open to.

When you submit your videos, our producers may have revisions and suggestions.

EXECUTIONAL MANDATORIES:  You will be required to utilize the Tongal YouTube Channel title sequence, end card, thumbnail frames and background loop (if needed).

By participating in this project, creators acknowledge that the sponsor is under no obligation to greenlight a submission. Though most projects on our platform do move forward with a greenlit submission, we will notify you in the event the sponsor decides not to fund any submissions via the project forum. Regardless of the result, all submissions will be reviewed and evaluated by the sponsor and the project team.

Shooting live action or stop motion? Our priority is ensuring everyone's safety, so please review our COVID-19 Production Safety Guide and check federal, state, and local rules before and during your shoot to make sure your on-set protocols are up to date. We're working hard to keep people working during this extraordinary time, and you should ensure your submission is executable within the anticipated timeline and budget, while also ensuring everyone's safety.

FORMATS WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Creative Trend Videos: Creative Trends can be simple montage videos like “Best Puppetry in Cinema”, “Use of Shadows in Animation”, “Spaceship Design in Movie History”, “Best Dolly Shots” etc. They should be no longer than 3 minutes. Feel free to use the suggestions listed or any of your own original ideas.

  • Tips & Tricks Videos: Do you have creative filmmaking or audio tips you just have to share with the Tongal community? Here’s your chance. Create dynamic tips videos and help creators take their content to the next level. Should be no longer than 3 minutes.

  • Remix Videos: Are you a fan of found footage? Do you find yourself looking at old commercials from the 60s? Can you recut a scene to be a different mood? or a trailer? like Scary Mary or the Shining Happy Trailer? Then this is the video series for you. Recut/Remix some of your favorite content into something completely new. Should be no longer than 3 minutes.

  • Tour Videos: Do you have a workshop or space that you create in that you want to share with the Tongal Community? Give us the tour. Show us how your layout maximizes your time and creativity, share what efficiencies you’ve learned and offer some design ideas. Videos should be no longer than 3 minutes.

  • Everyday Life, If Directed By: Tired of the same old routine? Spice it up by creating a video where things are a little different- like “Making a Cake, if Directed by Werner Herzog.” or “Cleaning the House, if Directed by Wes Anderson”. Should be no longer than 3 Minutes.

REFERENCE VIDEOS FOR INSPIRATION:

Here’s are links to the variety of content types we’re open to. While some clearly have an associated cost above $250, we want you to feel inspired to go as outside the box as some of these creators.

Consider submitting a pitch video in which you tell the Sponsor what they can expect should they choose your pitch. Also, test videos, animatics, etc. are welcome. For some examples of effective pitch videos, check out this gallery. All pitches will remain private until after the Sponsor gives creator(s) the green light to move forward.

The most compelling pitch will be greenlit, and the responsible creator will then receive an email from Tongal producers detailing next steps. All submitters will also receive an automated email notification that a selection has been announced. To ensure you’re receiving project updates, review your email settings to check that you haven't unsubscribed.

Creators who’ve been selected will receive funding upon completing the Winner Affidavit and the IP Assignment. Payment of the pitch funds is subject to a payment schedule determined by Tongal. Please see the full payment schedule in the Assets section.
