Create evergreen video packaging assets for Tongal’s YouTube Channel.

Tongal will soon be revamping its YouTube channel and we're looking for one creator to design a suite of video packaging assets that can be employed across every new video we release. We're looking to you to help develop an exciting framework that will influence the look and feel of the channel in 2021 and beyond.

We’re looking for a thumbnail frame, a quick opening animation (title sequence) & matching end card, and an animated or motion graphic background loop. Your title sequence and end cards aren't just visual, so we want to hear audio or music cues considered in them as well. These assets will then be provided to Tongal YouTube Creators and featured in their original videos that will be released on the Tongal YouTube Channel.

You can check out a specific breakdown for each element in the Background / Additional Details.

DELIVERABLES:

  • One Thumbnail Frame featuring Tongal branding (1280x720)
  • One Title Sequence, up to :05 (16x9)
  • One End Card (16x9)
  • One :10 Animated Background Loop (16x9)
  • Project files and a master template

TIMELINE:

  • Pitch Phase: 1/13 - 1/22
  • Pitch winners announced: 1/26
  • Production Phase: 1/26 - 2/2
  • Revisions: 2/2 - 2/9
  • Project Close: 2/9

EXPOSURE: YouTube

TARGET AUDIENCE:  The Tongal Community and creators across the Internet - predominantly writers, filmmakers, directors, animators, editors, and producers

EXECUTIONAL MANDATORIES:

  • Designs must incorporate the Tongal logo (which you may access HERE). How that happens is entirely up to your imagination. We are open to both subtle and bold approaches as to how you utilize the logo.
  • No matter how you incorporate it, the Tongal logo must be legible to the viewer.
  • The brand colors of the Tongal logo must not be altered. Please think about how your design can complement whichever iteration of the logo you choose.
  • AVOID text or type that isn’t related to the T-O-N-G-A-L of the Tongal logo.
  • All work MUST be original, and should NOT include or reference any other existing IP. Any persons, places or things rendered should be of the artist’s own creation and should not be referential of other existing properties.

Here's what you need to know about each element:

TITLE SEQUENCE: Love a good title sequence? Here’s your chance. Tongal’s YouTube Videos need a 3-5 second video intro with a musical cue. Live action or Animated. This should embrace the vast and diverse amount of mixed media creator content the Tongal community is known for. It’s okay to utilize any existing content on Tongal’s YouTube Channel. It should also incorporate Tongal’s Logo and be full frame.

END CARD: If you’ve spent any time on YouTube you know End Cards are the capstone to any good video. Each video will point to two additional videos, so your Motion End Cards should reflect one of the various YouTube End Card layouts, which will display the Tongal Logo and two additional video links. Should also include a still image version.  Preference is for entirely original, but please avoid existing IP’s. (Example: No use of Hogwarts House Crests or clips from Game of Thrones). It’s okay to utilize any existing content on Tongal’s YouTube Channel. Full frame is preferred but we're also open to a graphic overlay for an alpha channel which would allow video creators to loop some of their footage if they choose.

YOUTUBE THUMBNAIL FRAME: The first thing anyone visiting Tongal’s YouTube Channel will see are thumbnails for each video. We’re looking for Thumbnail Frames that Tongal YouTube video creators can use for their own thumbnail images. Think of them as a picture frame with some panache. They should incorporate Tongal Branding. For more information, check out our reference section below. Tongal’s black or white logo, Tongal’s purple/black icon, or our Blue/Black color scheme, should serve as inspiration. While we often lean into our blue/black color scheme, we’re also open to using different tints of Tongal’s brand colors for accents and/or to add depth and texture. Use of our lightning bolt motif appreciated, but optional.

BACKGROUND LOOP: Not every piece of video content is made the same, and frame sizes will vary, or sometimes a photo doesn’t fill the screen, so Tongal is looking for an infinite loop to provide creators should they ever have to fill that empty space, rather than a solid color. This can also be used as a background of text titles. These should be entirely original designs and concepts. Use of Tongal’s Logo and color scheme is acceptable.

In order to be considered for this project, you must include the below materials in your pitch submission. For examples of effective pitches, check out this gallery.

  • TEXT (REQUIRED): 500 characters or less synopsizing how you plan to approach and execute this video.

  • LINKS (REQUIRED): To your previous video work. Please specify your role (producer, director, cinematography, etc.) and DO NOT INCLUDE LINKS TO YOUR SHOWREEL. Please link to individual videos.

  • TREATMENT (REQUIRED): Please submit a treatment outlining your approach to all 4 deliverables.

  • PROOF OF CONCEPT (Optional): Please share a proof of concept title sequence.

One greenlit creator will receive $1,000. Should your assets be selected, you must complete the Winner’s Affidavit and IP Assignment forms in order to receive payment.

For your convenience, we’ve provided some helpful templates to use at your discretion. They include templates for creating a treatment, production budget, storyboards, shot list, call sheet, and a music cue sheet. Additionally, there are templates that will help you clearly present cast, location, and wardrobe options to the Sponsor. They can all be accessed here.

REVISION REQUIREMENTS: Once the Video Phase has closed, the greenlit creators will enter the Revisions Phase. Filmmakers will perform reasonable edits on their videos according to the Sponsor’s feedback.

MUSIC: Tongal has partnered with three premiere music providers: Jingle Punks, Killer Tracks and Epidemic Sound, any of which can be used to source music for your video submission to this project. Music from these providers is available to registered Tongal members at no charge solely for their incorporation into submissions to this project and will not require a separate Music Release Form. To learn more about using each of these music providers, click on any of the providers' names above.

If you choose to use custom/original music, you must fill out and submit our Music Release Form. If you obtain music from third-party catalog providers, you must purchase the appropriate license at your own expense and submit it with your license purchase receipt when you turn in your video paperwork.
