With a snappy mix of motion graphics and editing, create two different short and social savvy videos that can effectively convey key information from T-Mobile's upcoming corporate earnings report and resonate with viewers while maintaining T-Mobile's "Un-carrier" spirit.
We all love sharing our professional achievements on social media, so it should come as no surprise that the big shot execs at T-Mobile do too, and they've always got a lot to be excited about. There's one thing though - their upcoming corporate earnings report - that's particularly important for them. The challenge is that financial reports just aren't that interesting on their own, and certainly not when they're accompanied by the usual blah blah blandness of most corporate communications... so we need to do something about that. Luckily, T-Mobile's a pretty cool brand, and their leadership walks the walk. They embrace the same tone that the brand does: vibrant and playful, self-aware and confident, celebratory and, you know, still kinda professional. T-Mobile's the Un-carrier, why be like everyone else? Let's have a little fun.
T-Mobile needs some short videos for their leadership team to talk about corporate earnings on social media. This project's for motion graphic designers and editors, and it's going to incorporate motion text, dynamic visuals, and some live action footage. You'll create a :30 loopable earnings report video, and then a second :30-:40 video that incorporates actual footage of leadership to highlight key points that come up in their upcoming corporate earnings call. Since this content will be shared directly by executive leadership at T-Mobile, there's a lot of visibility here, so we want something visually interesting and engaging, but it's still got to remain professional and not too silly. T-Mobile's found that there is better engagement when visuals are clear, relatable, and customer-friendly - not overly abstract, frenetic, or busy. We are asking for two different styles of assets, which you can read more about below, which should complement one another.
For the first asset, The T-Mobile team will provide text copy for the 3-4 statistics that they are looking to highlight from their report. There's no live action footage of leadership in this one, and so we are looking for something similar to this example or this example, but even more vibrant and social forward, with the main focus here being to present customer and financial information in a way that feels very T-Mobile. The T-Mobile team and the chosen creator will work on aligning the concept design first, using temporary messaging, and then you'll need to work fast once the final report and massaging become available for final delivery on 4/22.
The second asset is going to require live-action footage from T-Mobile's earnings call on 4/25, so you'll need to develop a template, of sorts, until that footage becomes available. The T-Mobile team will provide placeholder clips that you can use to develop your template, along with a transcript, and the goal will be to create something that we can plug footage into quickly on 4/25. They've shared examples like this, but they're hoping to find ways to elevate this video content further, whether that means you utilize some kind of Magenta framing device around the edges of the frame, or you create some really cool transition effects, some text caption formatting, or something else altogether. Keep it magenta-themed and engaging, and keep in mind that the T-Mobile team will not be able to share the video that needs to be placed in the template until 3PM PT on 4/25, but you'll need the final video mastered that very same day by 5PM PT.
The T-Mobile team is open to all sorts of ideas for these executions - whether it's a fun animation or motion graphics, something hand-drawn, or even mixed media. Consider that you might need to several different achievements, one after the other, so you need some kind of cool visual device that allows you to clearly showcase each achievement, and then cleverly transition to the next achievement. You will NOT need to include any music in your deliverables, though there will be audio from the provided video on the second asset. If you're selected, we'll NDA you and give you a list of the achievements they want to cover. We've included some examples that we've done in the past in the Background.
You will be required to work within the Adobe Creative Cloud for your project and your files should be organized as the T-Mobile team may use the video template for future announcements. For your pitch submission, we would encourage you to share a sample video that illustrates what you're thinking in terms of a creative approach for at least one of the assets. If you are looking to include copy in your treatment or sample video, you can use this previous example for guidance. Feel free to throw in a few different creative options too, so the brand can pivot if they really like your past work, but aren't in love with your primary creative approach. Otherwise, for any questions or other project updates, check out the Project Forum.
DELIVERABLES: There are two total video assets.
EXPECTED TIMELINE: HERE
EXPOSURE: We expect content will be used on the platforms below, but if casting talent, be sure they review our required Talent Release before they're cast, as it is NOT limited to these platforms. You should also review our Music providers in the Project Requirements, as well as the platform best practices.
TARGET AUDIENCE: Industry analysts and potential customers
TONE/FEEL: Relatable, conversational, and casual, like you're talking with a friend, but also upbeat, fun, positive, and maybe even a bit quirky. Stay away from anything that feels sales-y or ad-like.
EXECUTIONAL MANDATORIES:
By participating in this project, creators acknowledge that the Sponsor is under no obligation to greenlight a submission. Though most projects do move forward, we'll notify you in the event the Sponsor decides not to fund any submissions via the Project Forum. Regardless of the result, all submissions will be reviewed and evaluated by the Sponsor and project team.
HELPFUL REFERENCE VIDEOS FOR INSPIRATION/TONE:
In order to be considered, include the below materials in your submission. For examples of effective pitches, check out this gallery. All Pitches remain private, even after a Pitch is selected, and Tongal strives to have Pitch selections made by the end of the Evaluation period, but additional time may be required by the Sponsor, depending on any number of factors.
The most compelling pitch will be greenlit by the Sponsor, and the responsible creator will then receive an email from Tongal producers detailing next steps. All submitters will also receive an automated email notification that a selection has been announced. To ensure you’re receiving project updates, review your email settings to check that you haven’t unsubscribed.
Creators who’ve been selected will receive funding upon completing the Winner Affidavit and the IP Assignment. Payment of the pitch funds is subject to a payment schedule determined by Tongal, typically included with the project timeline.
PRE-PRODUCTION REQUIREMENTS: Prior to the commencement of actual production, creators MUST receive final approval from the Sponsor on the elements below. There may be multiple rounds of feedback until an element is approved.
If you begin production before you have received final approval, you may need to reshoot or reanimate at your own expense.
For convenience, we've provided some helpful templates that you can consider using for pre-production materials, and they can all be accessed here.
BUILDING YOUR TEAM: Looking for help? Post crew and production opportunities connected to Tongal projects on Backlot. MUSIC: If you use music from a library for your content, you MUST use one of Tongal's three music providers: Jingle Punks, Universal Production Music and Epidemic Sound. Music from these providers is available to registered Tongal members at no charge solely for their incorporation into submissions to this project, and will not require a Music Release Form. To learn more, click on any of the providers' names above.
If you choose to use original music, you must fill out and submit our Music Release Form. Please ensure your composer reviews and signs this form BEFORE beginning their work.
STOCK FOOTAGE: Tongal has partnered with the stock footage library STORYBLOCKS, which can be used to source video clips, photography, and After Effects templates for your video submission to this project. Video or photo content from Storyblocks is available at no charge, solely for incorporation into submissions on this project, and will not require a separate Release Form. If identifiable people or intellectual property appears in a video clip or photo, you may only utilize assets that are clearly marked “Model released: Yes” or “Property release: Yes” on the clip description pages. You may not use any audio.
If you intend to use Storyblocks, inform your Tongal producer, and an account will be created for you to access the library. Once assets are approved for delivery, you must provide a complete list of all Storyblocks content that you used via our template HERE.
ASSET DELIVERY REQUIREMENTS & RESOURCES: You must also provide all project files, editing sequences and a 1080p .mov master file, using a ProRes, Animation, or Uncompressed Codec in order to submit final payment. You are responsible for any costs associated with the hard drive and shipping. Tongal also reserves the right to request all raw files associated with the project.
