Benjamin and Tia reunite for the first time since Benjamin became a vampire. As they walk through the streets of Suez, their conversation is interspersed with scenes of their shared childhood: the night Benjamin started a fire to keep Tia warm, allowing his uncle to discover his ability, and the day he performed tricks while Tia picked the pockets of his distracted audience. They promised to run away together while counting their stolen coins.
At sunrise, they fulfill that promise at last.
