Create six :15-second social spots that encourage women to Try Midol instead of experimenting with their period symptoms (Cramps, Bloating, Fatigue, Backache, Headache, Irritability).
For some women, their period symptoms are so bad they will literally try anything to get relief: Hot water bottle under your shirt for a grocery run? Check. Yoga pants with heels for that ill-timed dream job interview? Check! Granny panties when you just know today is going to be a losing battle? Check, check, check.
While these rituals or ‘solutions’ may display great creativity, though, they’re low on reliability. That is where Midol Complete comes in. Midol Complete gives women the multi-symptom relief they need to push through their periods. Providing relief beyond just the pain, Midol Complete provides women with relief to combat cramps, bloating, fatigue, backache and headaches. Therefore, women can make it through the day without a heating pad, healing crystals and granny panties. So why not just try Midol?!
Read on to the Project Objectives for more information.
The goal of this project is to shoot scenarios for six :15-second social videos where women get creative about pushing through period symptoms instead of just Trying Midol. The filmmaker will deliver color-corrected stringouts for each video and all raw footage on a hard drive after production ends.
Specifics about the scenarios will be shared with the Pitch winner, but we are also open to any scenarios you come up with that humorously show women finding creative solutions to managing their period symptoms, both at home and in public.
You should be prepared to film in at least 1-3 locations (bedroom, living room and/or kitchen, car or house exterior, office) with 6 unique lead talent and deliver color-corrected stringouts for each video and all raw footage on a hard drive for the sponsor to create all social cuts.
Once production is wrapped, the filmmaker must prepare a hard drive with color-corrected stringouts and all raw footage to be shipped to the Sponsor.
The Sponsor will be on set for this project.
Please read the Project Details section thoroughly for everything you need to know.
--Key Marketing Messages:
--Target Audience:
Women 18–24 who experience period pain, with spillover in the 12–17 and 25–35 age groups.
--About the consumer:
What does her life look like?
Emily is caught up in the chaos of life. She loves being connected to as much as possible and squeezes as much into each day as she can—rushing off to class/ work, managing her relationships and often socializing late into the night. Emily’s digital life can sometimes feel as important as her real one; she is technically savvy and often checks her phone. Emily tends to lean moderate or liberal, but is not particularly interested in discussing politics. She is more likely to lean into specific social causes or issues than advocate is a specific party platform. Emily likes to spoil herself when appropriate and her hectic lifestyle makes it necessary to de-stress and enjoy what life has to offer.
How does her period disrupt her life?
Getting her period makes Emily have that “OH S*%T” moment, forcing her to pause or confront the potential of missing plans that week. Emily is afraid she might get left behind (FOMO) and knows it will take more effort to do everything. Her period symptoms may vary, but Emily often deals with pain, bloating, fatigue, irritability and more. She turns to what she already has on hand for pain relief, because she knows that at least she can get the pain to stop. With the pain gone, Emily subconsciously adapts and adjusts to her other symptoms to continue with her day.

Project Details: This Project will be worth a total of $40,000 and consists of four Phases: A Pitch Phase, a Pre-Production Phase, a Video Phase, and a Revisions Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.
PHASE 1: PITCH:
Submit your Pitch (What is a Pitch Phase?) convincing the Sponsor why you should be selected to execute a Video based on one of the winning Ideas from the previous Phase using:
The most compelling Pitch will be selected and, upon submitting the Winner’s Affidavit and the IP Assignment, will receive $15,000 to help create the Video. Please note the payment of the Pitch award is subject to a payment schedule determined by Tongal. Additionally, upon submitting a Video that satisfies the criteria laid out in your winning Pitch, completing Sponsor notes, providing the necessary release forms, and providing all assets required by the sponsor the Pitch winner will receive a final payment of $25,000. For examples of effective Pitches, check out this gallery. All Pitches will remain private until after the winner of the Video Phase is announced and the Project is complete.
PHASE 2: PRE-PRODUCTION – The Pitch Winner will enter the Pre-Production Phase (What is a Pre-Production Phase?). During this phase, filmmakers will need to receive the following Approvals from the brand:
No filmmakers may begin shooting their Video until all Approvals are completed and the Video Phase has officially begun. If you begin shooting your Video during the Pre-Production Phase before you have received final approval, there is a chance you will need to reshoot (at your own expense).
For your convenience we’ve provided some helpful templates to use at your discretion. They include templates for creating a Treatment, Production Budget, Storyboards, Shot List, Call Sheet, and a Music Cue Sheet. Additionally, there are templates that will help you clearly present the Sponsor cast, location, and wardrobe options. They can all be accessed here.
PHASE 3: VIDEO – Once the Pre-Production Phase is complete, the Pitch Winner will shoot scenarios for six :15-second social videos based upon their winning Pitch. The filmmaker will deliver color-corrected stringouts for each video and all raw footage on a hard drive after production ends.
Once production is wrapped, the filmmaker must prepare a hard drive with color-corrected stringouts and all raw footage to be shipped to the Sponsor. The winning producer will assume the costs associated with the hard drive and shipping.
--Video Phase Payout: Upon submitting a Video that satisfies the criteria laid out in your winning Pitch, completing Sponsor notes, providing the necessary release forms, and providing all assets required by the sponsor the Pitch winner will receive a final payment of $25,000.
--Music: Tongal has partnered with three premiere music providers: Jingle Punks, Killer Tracks and Epidemic Sound, any of which can be used to source music for your Video submission to this Project. Music from these providers is available to registered Tongal members at no charge solely for their incorporation into Submissions to this Project and will not require a separate Music Release Form. To learn more about using each of these music providers, click on any of the provider’s names above.
Tongal members interested in a more customized music solution for your project are invited to connect with our partner Score A Score. Email a brief description of your project (timing, creative, budget, etc.), along with any specific music direction and/or references to their creative team at music@scoreascore.com and include “Tongal Project - Your Name” in the subject line. Their creative team will be in touch within a few minutes to discuss the simple process and options with you. Please note that you will be responsible for the fees associated with using Score A Score.
If you are selected as a winner and choose to use custom/original music, you must fill out and submit our Music Release Form. If you obtain music from third-party catalog providers, you must purchase the appropriate license at your own expense and submit it with your license purchase receipt when you turn in your Video paperwork.
PHASE 4: REVISIONS – Once the Video Phase has closed, the filmmaker will enter the Revisions Phase (What is a Revisions Phase?). During this phase, the filmmaker will deliver color-corrected stringouts for each video and all raw footage on a hard drive.
PHASE 5: ASSETS DELIVERY – Once production is wrapped, the winning filmmaker must provide color-corrected stringouts and raw files on a hard drive to be shipped to the Sponsor. Once the project has wrapped, you must also provide all project files, editing sequences and a 1080p .mov master file, using a ProRes, Animation, or Uncompressed Codec in order to submit final payment. You will be responsible for the costs associated the hard drive (if necessary) and shipping.
