Using pre-existing assets, design a high-resolution cinemagraph which will be featured on several large billboard screens in Times Square for BritBox's police drama series, After the Flood.
This May, BritBox will be premiering the new six-part mystery police drama series, After the Flood. When an unidentified man is found dead in a lift in an underground car park, police initially assume he became trapped as the waters rose after a natural disaster, but Police Constable Joanna Marshall, played by Sophie Rundle, becomes obsessed with discovering what really happened to him. The series will see the real impact of climate change on the lives of residents in this small town, as the floods threaten to expose deep secrets, and both fortunes and reputations are at stake. How far will people go to protect themselves? To celebrate the premiere, Britbox wants to make a splash by featuring their new series poster on multiple screens in Times Square - as a dynamic cinemagraph.
We're not looking for original artwork in this project. Instead, we're looking for a talented visual effects artist, animator, or motion graphic designer who can work with existing assets and turn them them into a :10-:15 loopable and dynamic cinemagraph - something that can dramatically stand out amongst the hustle and bustle of New York City's Times Square, and truly elevate the series poster in an unexpected way, with realistic visual flourishes. BritBox has already provided all their existing poster assets, but they're open to a range of different solutions to the creative challenge here. That said, it's important that we see the star, Sophie Rundle, front and center, along with the menacing clouds, the pouring rain, and the swirling floodwaters that create depth in the static imagery.
While we are only looking for a single creative execution, the final content will be featured on multiple screens with a range of different aspect ratios, so you'll need to be thoughtful and deliberate in how you adapt and reformat your creative approach for each placement. We'd encourage you to include how you plan to approach the different screen sizes in your treatment, and you can review specs and details for each screen HERE. We will also need each asset to be delivered with and without a tune in for the show; there will be one version asking audiences to "Tune in on May 13th," and another version that simply says "Now Streaming."
To give us an idea of the visual approach you're going for, we're asking that you submit links to your artist portfolio, along with a PDF document containing three examples of past work that are representative of the artistic style you'd use to create your design. It would be great to see an example of work that shows you can elevate a still image into something that has simple but dynamic movement, like this. It's NOT full animation and certainly NOT a traditional "video" execution, because that's more movement than we need. This is about adding a little flare that elevates your still image and makes it feel alive, dramatic, and menacing. To that end, you also have the option to submit a proof-of-concept of the cinemagraph if you think that's helpful.

In order to be considered, include the below materials in your submission. For examples of effective pitches, check out this gallery. All Pitches remain private, even after a Pitch is selected, and Tongal strives to have Pitch selections made by the end of the Evaluation period, but additional time may be required by the Sponsor, depending on any number of factors.
The most compelling pitch will be greenlit by the Sponsor, and the responsible creator will then receive an email from Tongal producers detailing next steps. All submitters will also receive an automated email notification that a selection has been announced. To ensure you’re receiving project updates, review your email settings to check that you haven’t unsubscribed.
Creators who’ve been selected will receive funding upon completing the Winner Affidavit and the IP Assignment. Payment of the pitch funds is subject to a payment schedule determined by Tongal, typically included with the project timeline.

STOCK FOOTAGE: Tongal has partnered with the stock footage library STORYBLOCKS, which can be used to source video clips, photography, and After Effects templates for your video submission to this project. Video or photo content from Storyblocks is available at no charge, solely for incorporation into submissions on this project, and will not require a separate Release Form. If identifiable people or intellectual property appears in a video clip or photo, you may only utilize assets that are clearly marked “Model released: Yes” or “Property release: Yes” on the clip description pages. You may not use any audio.
If you intend to use Storyblocks, inform your Tongal producer, and an account will be created for you to access the library. Once assets are approved for delivery, you must provide a complete list of all Storyblocks content that you used via our template HERE.
ASSET DELIVERY REQUIREMENTS & RESOURCES: You must also provide all project files, editing sequences and a 1080p .mov master file, using a ProRes, Animation, or Uncompressed Codec in order to submit final payment. You are responsible for any costs associated with the hard drive and shipping. Tongal also reserves the right to request all raw files associated with the project.
