Pitch by Amitabh Joshi
The first Nepali film ever made is missing, and I’m on a quest to find it. The film, titled Harishchandra, was shot on an Arriflex by cinematographer Suresh Das in Calcutta in 1949. Now all prints of this controversial film have disappeared. This three-minute film is a visual essay of my journey from King Birendra’s palace to a studio in Calcutta to save my country’s cinematic history and find my roots as a filmmaker intertwined with ARRI cameras.
