Create a long-form, Lo-fi beats audio playlist that utilizes a combination of existing music tracks or original compositions with some form of T-Mobile's signature ringtone, to serve as the focus of a Lo-fi beats animated video for T-Mobile's YouTube channel.
"Lo-fi beats to study and relax," "Lo-fi music for a rainy day in the local coffee shop," and "Saturday vibes to calm your Mind." We see videos like this on YouTube all the time, and people typically play them to set the tone while they work or relax around the house. Now T-Mobile is looking to create their very own Lo-fi beats video; something that will live on their YouTube channel for any listeners who may be looking for relaxing background noise... with a little bit of a T-Mobile flair.
For this project, we're looking for up to 2 different creators to produce a custom Lo-fi beats playlist that cleverly integrates T-Mobile's signature ringtone into a playlist made up of multiple different music tracks, drawn either from from one of the Tongal music providers (Jingle Punks, Universal Production Music, or Epidemic Sound) or from a wholly original musical compilation. The ringtone should be audible in every individual track or use it as a way to mix two songs and you can also modify, remix, or reinterpret the ringtone as you see fit, nut make sure to keep it interesting. We're looking for the playlist to run about 50-60 minutes, and ultimately we'll want to export it as a single audio file, so each "track" should seamlessly transition into the next. You will also need to provide a track listing with names for each track used in the final mix and we may ask you to export the individual tracks for easier review during post. We are ultimately planning to pair this audio with a custom animated video, which will be created in the T-Mobile Ringtone Lo-fi Animation Video Project. If you happen to have the audio and animation skills to create both assets, we encourage you to pitch on both projects!
Creatively, it's important for you to consider what elements are typically included in Lo-fi tracks, and what makes some tracks work better than others. Consider some of the genre staples, like Lofi Girl, which focuses on hip-hop and synthwave beats with a particular theme in mind, like studying or sleeping, to help guide the mix. Other channels like Lofi Everyday consider locations and weather to incorporate sound effects into the music, and there's a wide variety of other channels that use everything from classical compositions to punk rock as the underlying foundation of the Lo-fi beats. Whatever approach you decide to take, you should think about how you can incorporate the T-Mobile ringtone without making the audio feel too brand-focused. Cleverness is key here. We are looking for a chill mix that anyone would be up to listen to even if they are not a T-Mobile customer.
For your pitch submission, we'd like to hear a rough draft or audio sample (no more than 1 minute) that demonstrates your approach and how you can mix different audio tracks together. Now we don't expect any vocals, but if you want to use any vocal elements, you're welcome to, but should minimize the usage and try to stay in line with the standards of the genre. T-Mobile may pick up to two submissions to move forward with, at which point they'll provide feedback and allow you to properly cast and mix the track before providing it to the animator.

EXECUTIONAL MANDATORIES:
By participating in this project, creators acknowledge that the Sponsor is under no obligation to greenlight a submission. Though most projects do move forward, we'll notify you in the event the Sponsor decides not to fund any submissions via the Project Forum. Regardless of the result, all submissions will be reviewed and evaluated by the Sponsor and project team.
In order to be considered, include the below materials in your submission. For examples of effective pitches, check out this gallery. All Pitches remain private, even after a Pitch is selected, and Tongal strives to have Pitch selections made by the end of the Evaluation period, but additional time may be required by the Sponsor, depending on any number of factors.
The most compelling pitch will be greenlit by the Sponsor, and the responsible creator will then receive an email from Tongal producers detailing next steps. All submitters will also receive an automated email notification that a selection has been announced. To ensure you’re receiving project updates, review your email settings to check that you haven’t unsubscribed.
Creators who’ve been selected will receive funding upon completing the Winner Affidavit and the IP Assignment. Payment of the pitch funds is subject to a payment schedule determined by Tongal, typically included with the project timeline.
PRE-PRODUCTION REQUIREMENTS: Prior to the commencement of actual production, creators MUST receive final approval from the Sponsor on the elements below. There may be multiple rounds of feedback until an element is approved.
If you begin production before you have received final approval, you may need to reshoot or reanimate at your own expense.
For convenience, we've provided some helpful templates that you can consider using for pre-production materials, and they can all be accessed here.
REVISION REQUIREMENTS & RESOURCES: Once Content has been submitted and the initial Production Phase completed, greenlit creators will enter into Revisions. Creators will perform reasonable edits on their videos according to the Sponsor's feedback. Check out our Filmmaker Resource Portal to access helpful post-production resources like Text-Safe Guides for different platforms, Project File Organization Tutorial, Export Presets, and Captioning services.
MUSIC: If you use music from a library for your content, you MUST use one of Tongal's three music providers: Jingle Punks, Universal Production Music and Epidemic Sound. Music from these providers is available to registered Tongal members at no charge solely for their incorporation into submissions to this project, and will not require a Music Release Form. To learn more, click on any of the providers' names above.
If you choose to use original music, you must fill out and submit our Music Release Form. Please ensure your composer reviews and signs this form BEFORE beginning their work.
ASSET DELIVERY REQUIREMENTS & RESOURCES: You must also provide all project files, editing sequences and a master file in order to submit final payment. Tongal also reserves the right to request all raw files associated with the project.
