Mid 1980s low-income Toronto, Catholic High School, I was a nerdy 15 yr old. Unpopular and underestimated, most people wouldn't look at me twice. Air Band contest: my opportunity to shine. Madonna was everything to us then. I cobbled together my fishnet tops & rubber bracelets and teased out my hair. When the music started, I writhed seductively all over the gym stage as everyone looked on, jaws akimbo. Who is that girl? Not two minutes in, a nun pulled the plug. It was just too sexy.
