Produce three animated safety training videos for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, based on some existing scripts, that will help teach members the proper setup and protocol for high-risk recreational activities that are popular with The Church's youth groups.
It's almost summertime, and with the warm weather comes an array of fun, challenging, and exciting recreational opportunities for FSY groups (For the Strength of Youth) within The Church of Jesus-Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Young members of The Church from different conferences and organizations are excited to dive in (sometimes literally), but some of these activities can be a little more high risk than others, and safety is always paramount. To help members better understand best practices and safety protocols for those activities, The Church is looking for YOUR help to produce a suite of animated videos to guide everyone through the process.
For this project, we need to create three different 5-7 minute animated videos that can be used to help train the senior missionaries and volunteers, with detailed information about the proper setup and protocol involved with popular high-risk recreational activities. The Church will be provide scripts for these videos, as well as key information about the activities. Creatively, they're looking for a more subtle style of 2D animation that's closer to motion graphics than to classic full frame animation, with illustrated static characters and props set against simple, clean backgrounds, and limited dynamic motion. You should check out the reference video in the Background, and apart from the visual style, pay close attention to how the movement has a slow, parallax effect, thus helping stretch the length of each visual. The messaging is really paramount here, so think of the animation as a rich and colorful but calming backdrop for the eyes, more a visual aid than the driving force, as voiceover leads the viewer through the instructions.
The three subjects that will be covered in the videos are Archery, Tomahawk Throwing, and Waterfront Activities, and you can take that into account if you want to mock up any visuals in your treatment. The scripts themselves run about 2-3 minutes, but we anticipate that each video will actually be closer to the 5-7 minute range. Importantly, your team will also be responsible for handling the voiceover on this project, so you'll need to source and present options to The Church in pre-production, and execute the recording during production. You'll also be delivering in multiple aspect ratios, and ideally optimize your animation for each aspect ratio, rather than simply cropping the action in the 16x9.

In order to be considered, include the below materials in your submission. For examples of effective pitches, check out this gallery. All Pitches remain private, even after a Pitch is selected, and Tongal strives to have Pitch selections made by the end of the Evaluation period, but additional time may be required by the Sponsor, depending on any number of factors.
The most compelling pitch will be greenlit by the Sponsor, and the responsible creator will then receive an email from Tongal producers detailing next steps. All submitters will also receive an automated email notification that a selection has been announced. To ensure you’re receiving project updates, review your email settings to check that you haven’t unsubscribed.
Creators who’ve been selected will receive funding upon completing the Winner Affidavit and the IP Assignment. Payment of the pitch funds is subject to a payment schedule determined by Tongal, typically included with the project timeline.
