Pay tribute to a scene, character, or quote - in entertaining DIY style - from one of two fan favorite films that SYFY will be airing in July: Twister or Beetlejuice.
Open up all your closets and bust out the duck tape, because SYFY wants you to use whatever you've got lying around to produce a clever lo-fi tribute to one of two epic movies they'll be airing this summer. We're talking about serious fan favorites here - Twister, and Beetlejuice - and this is all about home-made fan-driven fun. Pay homage to your favorite moment, your favorite character, or your favorite quote, in :11 or :16. There are like a MILLION awesome options in these two, and they're both stellar examples of films that creatively use practical effects.
*NOTE: We've re-opened the submission phase through Monday, 7/13, specifically for Beetlejuice submissions. Feel free to post a question in the forum if you need any clarification there.
You can use boxes, buckets, blankets, belts, bananas... whatevs. High production value is not the point. That said, if you want to show off some crafty cosplay, SYFY's not against it. They're even open to puppets, stop motion, animation, and papercraft. As long as your tribute is clearly recognizable and thoroughly entertaining, we're on board.
Wondering what's up with :11 and :16? SYFY actually wants :15 or :20, but they're going to include tune-in graphics for the movies (as well as your name!) in the last four seconds. That means they need you to tell your narrative in exactly :11 or :16, and then end on a shot that's not too busy - maybe it's a static shot, or something focused on the setting or environment - for four seconds. We don't mean freeze frame, because the camera should still be rolling, it's just about making sure there's room for the graphics.

SYFY will only select ONE video for EACH film. If you need a reference, check out this Texas Chainsaw tribute, and this Friday the 13th tribute, both of which put a different spin on the movies they pay homage too.
Oh, also, if you need to watch the trailer for a refresher... we won't tell anyone.
