In this Quick Hits project, we are looking for a writer who has experience writing for interactive mediums, such as video games, to help in crafting a choose-your-own-adventure style story.

We're looking for someone who can write an adventurous and comedic interactive animated narrative where kids will be able to choose their own path in LEGO® City from a number of different branching narratives. You will be paired with another writer who already has experience with writing for The LEGO Group, and you'll work together with the Tongal team to craft an animation script.

For your pitch, you'll need to submit a writing sample (2-pages max) featuring an adventure in LEGO® City with at least a few different branching options. You'll also need to let us know if you have any interactive writing experience.

For any questions or other project updates, check out the Project Forum.

DELIVERABLES:

  • The video that this script will be used to create will be a single 2-3 minute narrative, but with approximately 35 different narrative possibilities, it may require up to 15 minutes of actual original scripted content.

EXPOSURE: YouTube

TARGET AUDIENCE: Kids 5-12

TONE: Adventurous, funny, engaging

EXECUTIONAL MANDATORIES:

  • Dialogue may be kept to a minimum in the final script.
  • We are looking for visual humor and engaging adventure, with clever use of the branching narrative format.
  • Please keep the humor witty, but family-friendly, and geared for children
  • Please do not mix characters from other LEGO® themes with LEGO® City.

LEGO® City is a realistic LEGO world for kids to explore and stimulate their creativity.

  • You can check out LEGO® City sets here.
  • You can check out some previously made videos about LEGO® City here.

In order to be considered for this project, you must include the below materials in your pitch submission. For examples of effective pitches, check out this gallery.

  • TEXT (REQUIRED): Up to 500 characters letting us know a little about yourself and why you're interested in pitching for this project.

  • WRITING SAMPLE (REQUIRED): Give us a sample of an adventure in LEGO® City with at least a few different branching options.

  • INTERACTIVE WRITING EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED): Please let us know about any interactive mediums you've written for, such as video games, and your role.

The most compelling pitch will be greenlit, and the responsible creator will then receive an email from Tongal producers detailing next steps. All submitters will also receive an automated email notification that a selection has been announced. To ensure you’re receiving project updates, review your email settings to check that you haven’t unsubscribed.

Creators who’ve been selected will receive funding upon completing the Winner Affidavit and the IP Assignment. Payment of the pitch funds is subject to a payment schedule determined by Tongal.

REVISION REQUIREMENTS: Once the Video Phase has closed, the greenlit submitters will enter the Revisions Phase. Filmmakers will perform reasonable edits on their videos according to the Sponsor’s feedback.
