Tradition by David Oster
Wooo. Pig. Sooie! The tradition of "Calling the Hogs" has become one of the most unique and recognizable chants in all of college sports. But how did it originate? In 1909 the football coach of the then Cardinals called his players "a wild band of Razorbacks". The next year the mascot was changed the Razorbacks! During a tough game, a group of farmers cheered squeeling like hogs, and the team won! Students then created the Woo Pig Sooie chant and hand motions that has remained for generations!
