The LEGO Group wants a new animated logo sequence to use in movies and in other entertainment content, so we're looking for storyboard artists who can create a dynamic animated logo that can be big, bold, and truly epic.
You've seen unforgettable logos at the start of just about every major film you've ever seen: the majestic spinning globe of Universal Studios... the star-crested mountaintop of Paramount... the carefree moonchild, fishing for DreamWorks. Now, it's time to come up with the next great opening logo idea - for LEGO.
That's right, The LEGO Group is looking for at least two talented artists to conceptualize and create storyboards for a brand new LEGO animated logo, which will be up to :24. It'll be just like the iconic examples above, but way better, because... well, it's LEGO. We really want to build excitement and wow audiences, because this logo could appear ahead of any major LEGO theatrical releases, and also be used across all LEGO Entertainment content moving forward - for years to come - if you blow our minds and really deliver something awesome.
For the pitch phase, we're looking for you to submit at least 2-3 different approaches for an epic opening logo, and we'd ask that each approach include at least 3 key frames illustrating how you envision your logo coming to life. You can create these frames any way you want - whether that be 3D render, 2D illustration, stop motion photography, mixed media collage, or some other artistic medium entirely. That said, whatever you choose needs to represent the iconic The LEGO Group brand and feel made for the big screen. Since this will be used in high-profile content, it's important that we're able to envision something that can eventually be executed with a very high production value.
After the pitch phase, at least two creators will be selected to move into storyboarding, and The LEGO Group will work with you to continue to develop your logo concepts. At this stage, we are only looking to create storyboards for bold and outside-the-box concepts - and there is not any sort of animation component within the scope of this project. That said, if you are an animator, there's certainly a chance that you could create the final logo video down the road.

By participating in this project, creators acknowledge that the Sponsor is under no obligation to greenlight a submission. Though most projects do move forward, we'll notify you in the event the Sponsor decides not to fund any submissions via the Project Forum. Regardless of the result, all submissions will be reviewed and evaluated by the Sponsor and project team.
In order to be considered, include the below materials in your submission. For examples of effective pitches, check out this gallery. All Pitches remain private, even after a Pitch is selected, and Tongal strives to have Pitch selections made by the end of the Evaluation period, but additional time may be required by the Sponsor, depending on any number of factors.
The most compelling pitch will be greenlit by the Sponsor, and the responsible creator will then receive an email from Tongal producers detailing next steps. All submitters will also receive an automated email notification that a selection has been announced. To ensure you’re receiving project updates, review your email settings to check that you haven’t unsubscribed.
Creators who’ve been selected will receive funding upon completing the Winner Affidavit and the IP Assignment. Payment of the pitch funds is subject to a payment schedule determined by Tongal, typically included with the project timeline.
PRE-PRODUCTION REQUIREMENTS: Prior to the commencement of actual production, creators MUST receive final approval from the Sponsor on the elements below. There may be multiple rounds of feedback until an element is approved.
If you begin production before you have received final approval, you may need to reshoot or reanimate at your own expense.
For convenience, we've provided some helpful templates that you can consider using for pre-production materials, and they can all be accessed here.
REVISION REQUIREMENTS & RESOURCES: Once Content has been submitted and the initial Production Phase completed, greenlit creators will enter into Revisions. Creators will perform reasonable edits on their videos according to the Sponsor's feedback.
