Celebrate the original Ghostbusters and Columbia Pictures’ 100th anniversary with a commemorative poster that highlights the franchise’s iconic props, locations, and other easter eggs. Winning designs will be printed as part of a limited-edition run, giving you a chance to showcase your fandom in a collectible format cherished by fans worldwide.
Are you troubled by strange noises in the middle of the night? Do you experience feelings of dread in your basement or attic? Have you or your family ever seen a spook, spectre or ghost? If the answer is "yes," then we've got the project for you. As Columbia Pictures marks its 100th anniversary, they're celebrating the 40th anniversary of one of the most beloved films of all time: the original Ghostbusters. As a part of that celebration, they're calling on superfans to create an original commemorative poster that can capture what's at the heart of the franchise, while infusing it with fresh energy and a new artistic perspective. This is an opportunity to help immortalize the Ghostbusters, and each poster that's created will be offered as a limited-edition print that can be cherished by fans worldwide.
Your goal here is to design a single original poster; one that uses bold artistry and visionary design to showcase some of the iconic props, sets, designs, and easter eggs from the Ghostbusters universe, and that evokes a sense of nostalgia and celebration, appealing to a wide audience of fans old and new. Your poster artwork should be an homage to the iconic Ghostbusters universe that we love, focusing on elements that have stood the test of time, like the proton packs and the ghost traps, the firehouse, the Ectomobile, Zuul's terror dogs, or even Mr. Stay Puft himself. You should feel free to dig deep into your fandom and go even further—like hiding clever easter eggs throughout your design that only true fans will recognize. We want you to spark excitement, and create a visual treasure hunt that rewards superfans for their knowledge and love of the franchise.
We're open to any original and artistic illustrated style or design medium, whether digital or physical, but you should avoid photography or live-action elements, and you will not be able to depict the actual actors from Ghostbusters, or use their likenesses. We want to see bold creativity paired with respect for the franchise’s legacy. Show us how your vision stands out from the crowd while celebrating what makes Ghostbusters a cultural touchstone. The Sony team is particularly interested in seeing artists from Canada and Asia, so if you're pitching to us from one of those regions, please let us know in your submission!
Your poster should follow the standard 2x3 poster aspect ratio to ensure consistency in presentation, but we'll also be looking for a 4x5 version that Columbia can use on its social channels. The final design will be printed in a high-quality, limited-edition run, so your submission must be polished, visually stunning, and ready for physical reproduction. And remember, artists, when someone asks you if you're a god, you say "YES!"
