Edit together a short social suite of fun and engaging hints and tips videos for Sally Beauty's DIY University, using content from their existing library.

Hair coloring, styling, and even taking care of your hair can be scary things, especially when you don't know what you are doing. That's why Sally Beauty created the DIY University, a place where they bring beauty education and inspiration to achieve great style at home. Right now, the DIY University content lives on their website and YouTube, and some of it exists as long-form tutorial videos, but Sally Beauty wants to bring some of the most helpful information to their social platforms, with a new look and feel that'll feel organic to social media. With that in mind, we're looking for one editor to work with footage from 5 tutorial videos, provided by the brand, and create a suite of short hints and tips videos.

The goal is to create a full suite of :15 to :20 videos that pull out helpful highlights from the different tutorial videos, with the idea that each short video uses a single sequence to provides a quick lesson about what people can do to level up their styling. Each video should also drive people to the DIY University site for additional information. These videos will be playing on TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook, so they should be short and informational - potentially even created from a single clip pulled from the tutorials - but they should also colorful, dynamic, and energetic in a way that feels organic to these platforms. Ultimately, Sally Beauty hopes to target future DIYers, stylists, and really anyone who wants to learn more about hair.

One of the challenges here is that the original videos are 16x9, and Sally Beauty won't be able to provide clean versions of the assets, so you'll need to find creative ways (e.g. humorous zoom-ins) to cut around some of the limited text and graphics that you see in order to and construct your 1x1 and 9x16 versions. Feel free to find a trend on social media and replicate it, you are in charge of applying some editing magic to spice these videos. We are not looking to capture every single step, or every single tip, but rather to pull at least 3-5 highlights from the videos that can be deployed by the Sally Beauty team as stand-alone videos. You have discretion in choosing which highlights to pull from the tutorials, and while we do expect that some highlights will consist of a single take, you should assume that some highlight videos will require more editing.

For your pitch submission, you should use the tutorial video about hair coloring - Different Ways To Do Color - and create a single :15-:20 sample to show the Sponsor how you'd approach the edit, ideally including some motion graphics and an end card. For example, at 06:07 in the video, Greg Patterson provides the viewer with a "quick and easy way to add color"; you may use that section as a highlight excerpt. For any questions or other project updates, check out the Project Forum.

DELIVERABLES: Each tutorial contains a number of different highlightable moments; we expect 3-5 highlight videos for each topic from the 5 videos below, for a total of 15 to 25 video assets.

  • Three to five :15-:20 highlight videos for Different Ways To Do Color (1x1, 9x16)
  • Three to five :15-:20 highlight videos for Do The Bright Thing (1x1, 9x16)
  • Three to five :15-:20 highlight videos for Knot Anymore: Detangle & Moisturize (1x1, 9x16)
  • Three to five :15-:20 highlight videos for Tips, Tricks, & Easy Updos (1x1, 9x16)
  • Three to five :15-:20 highlight videos for Master Your Craft (1x1, 9x16)
