Join the Tongal team as an independent contractor Community Marketing Specialist, assisting with digital marketing, strategic partnerships, and other Community Team projects.

Tongal is looking for help with community marketing, so who better to turn to than YOU, our awesome creative community? The Community Marketing Specialist role would see you working with the Community Marketing Manager to assist with ongoing digital marketing efforts, source and create entertaining and engaging social content, write and copy edit blog posts, produce livestreams, and help manage key relationships with our creators and partners. The ideal candidate will be passionate about identifying opportunities to retain and grow our community of talented global creators. If selected, you will be invited to enter into an independent contractor agreement to work remotely for $20 per hour, up to a maximum of 20 hours per week for an initial period of up to 3 months.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with meticulous focus on spelling and grammar

  • Ability to master the Tongal voice and willingness to incorporate feedback

  • Strong attention to detail and excellent prioritization skills

  • Deep understanding of the Tongal creative process and our policies

  • Understanding, empathy, patience and passion for film/video production, the filmmaking community, video content and digital media

  • Capacity to work independently in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment

  • Passionate about growing and supporting a thriving global community of creators

  • Social media savvy and ability to create engaging social content

EXECUTIONAL MANDATORIES: 

  • MUST be available to work up to 20 hours a week 

  • MUST be available for at least 2 hours each week within Tongal's standard operational hours to aid in communication (weekdays 9am PT - 6pm PT) 

  • MUST be willing to work for $20 per hour

  • MUST have a minimum of 1-2 years of professional experience in marketing, community management, communications, or related field

  • MUST demonstrate your ability to master the Tongal voice and marketing ingenuity through two skill-based tasks as part of your Application (See Submission Requirements for more details):

    • Sample Social Copy: Using this asset, write social copy for Tongal’s Instagram channel that will adhere to our brand voice and appeal to our creator community

    • Sample Marketing Idea: Share one new idea you have for meeting Tongal’s community marketing goals of attracting, engaging, and retaining creators to our platform and projects


The Tongal team will carefully consider each application submitted for the role of Community Marketing Specialist, however, we cannot guarantee the selection of one or more applicants as a result of this project and will retain the right to close the project at any time without making a definitive decision.

This project is to find independent contractors to assist with Tongal.  Nothing in this project is intended or should be construed as potentially creating an employment position with Tongal.  The position described by this project is NOT an employment position.

For this brief, we are looking to hire one part-time Community Marketing Specialist Independent Contractor to assist with our marketing efforts and work hand-in-hand with the community team to better the Tongal experience for everyone! 


Responsibilities:

  • Edit community blog posts and occasionally write original blog content

  • Assist with Tongal’s social media, including brainstorming and designing posts, writing social copy, and delivering content against our social content calendar

  • Assist in writing targeted email blasts in Mailchimp

  • Assist in building and maintaining key relationships with community partners and creators

  • Help evaluate submissions in Community-led projects against company goals

  • Help to brainstorm, surface, and drive new content and community development initiatives

  • Maintain ongoing familiarity with all of the current open projects and community pages on the Tongal platform


Skill Profile:

  • You’ll master: Asana, GSuite, Canva, Mailchimp
  • Nice to have: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere

  • APPLICATION (REQUIRED): 500 characters or less synopsizing your professional background and why you’d be a great fit the Community Marketing Specialist role.

  • RESUME (REQUIRED): Yup, we still want to know your credentials so give us that resume.

  • SAMPLE SOCIAL COPY (REQUIRED): 1000 characters or less of sample copy that you’d use to accompany this asset for placement on Tongal’s Instagram channel.

  • SAMPLE MARKETING IDEA (REQUIRED): 500 characters or less describing one idea you have for marketing Tongal or our various initiatives to potential and existing creators and community members.

  • PITCH VIDEO (Optional, but highly encouraged): This is your opportunity to be face-to-face with Tongal and show us what you're capable of. Consider submitting a pitch video in which you tell Tongal why you'd be a great fit as a Community Marketing Specialist. For some examples of effective Pitch videos, check out this gallery. All Pitches will remain private until after the Sponsor gives creator(s) the green light to move forward.

The creators of the most compelling pitches may be asked to move forward to a video interview round via Google Meet or similar with the team before a final decision is made. In the exciting event you are brought on to the Tongal team as a Community Marketing Specialist, we will provide you with a 3-month independent contract agreement for signing. It will be for up to a 20-hour work week paid at $20 per hour.

  1. Community Marketing Specialist Contractors will not be entitled to any of the benefits that Tongal may make available to its employees, including, but not limited to, group health or life insurance, profit-sharing or retirement benefits.  Because Community Marketing Specialist Contractors are independent contractors, Tongal will not withhold or make payments for social security, make unemployment insurance or disability insurance contributions, or obtain workers’ compensation insurance.

  2. Unless provided otherwise, all work must be your own original creation and free of any copyrighted material. You shall provide detailed information of your work regarding the source, the creator and background information as requested by Tongal.

  3. In the event you utilize any third-party materials, such as music provided by a third-party music provider not provided by Tongal, you must obtain full written license and consent from the owner of such third-party materials and provide such license and consent forms to Tongal.

  4. BY SUBMITTING AN ENTRY, YOUR SUBMISSION IMMEDIATELY BECOMES THE SOLE PROPERTY OF TONGAL OR ITS ASSIGNEES – SEE OFFICIAL RULES FOR MORE DETAILS ABOUT OWNERSHIP OF ENTRIES. YOU MAY NOT PUBLICLY SHARE OR PUBLISH YOUR SUBMISSION IN ANY MANNER AND YOU MAY NOT POST OR UPLOAD YOUR SUBMISSION TO ANY WEBSITE OR VIDEO HOSTING SITE (INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, FACEBOOK, YOUTUBE OR VIMEO), WITHOUT THE PRIOR EXPRESS WRITTEN CONSENT OF TONGAL. FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THIS REQUIREMENT MAY RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION OF YOUR ENTRY IN THE PROJECT.

  5. Submissions cannot contain any profanity, offensive language, nudity or otherwise objectionable material, the determination of which is solely at the discretion of Sponsor.

  6. Submissions must not portray Sponsor in a negative way, the determination of which will solely reside with Sponsor.
     

  7. Submissions must be in the English language or subtitled.
     

  8. Limit 1 submission per member, per Phase.
     

  9. You must be at least eighteen (18) years or older to enter.

  10. The Sponsor reserves the right to repost the contest.

  11. In addition to the judging criteria stated in the OFFICIAL RULES, Pitches will also be evaluated on that member's ability to fulfill the role based on past work experience.
