Community Creative Producer Contractor Spring 2022
Application
02/16/22 - 05/22/25

Assist the Tongal team as a Community Creative Producer, an independent contractor role where selected candidates will manage Tongal video projects from start to finish, working with clients and filmmakers throughout the process.

Tongal is looking to add to its team of Community Creative Producers (CCP) to help manage a steady and substantial stream of YouTube TrueView video projects like this one. This role, an independent contractor position, is entirely remote, and with a flexible work schedule. Selected applicants will be paid $750 for managing each project from start finish. Projects typically run about 6-8 weeks and once trained, the expectation is that CCPs will manage several projects simultaneously. We anticipate that the total time spent on each project is approximately 20-30 hours.

Prior to managing individual projects, there will be a 4-5 week training period where selected applicants will shadow current Tongal producers to learn how to operate on the Tongal website, understand the project workflow, and navigate through key client and filmmaker communication touch points, all of which will be necessary to become an effective Community Creative Producer. Selected applicants will be paid $750 for the training period.

Once a filmmaker pitch is selected from the submissions on a typical project, the CCP will be responsible for serving as an intermediary between the filmmaker and the client, managing the filmmaker’s workflow within the Tongal platform, and ensuring that all deadlines are met for the project. Please see more information about the responsibilities in the Background section.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • A passion for client service and support for companies of all sizes, while simultaneously working alongside filmmakers from a vibrant global creative community.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including copywriting skills.
  • An ability to evaluate filmmakers’ pitch submissions and creative proposals against each client’s project brief and stated needs.
  • An ability to evaluate pre-production materials (script, storyboard, casting, location, wardrobe), as well as work-in-progress video edits, through the lens of YouTube's best practices for TrueView Consideration & Awareness, TrueView Bumpers, and TrueView for Action.
  • Understanding, empathy, and a meticulous attention to detail, to ensure clients and community members have an awesome creative journey.
  • A passion for film & video production, the filmmaking community, storytelling, video content, and digital media.
  • A disciplined approach to project management, deadlines, and regular communication touchpoints.
  • Capacity to work independently, and a desire to go above and beyond to create highly effective ads

TIMELINE: We anticipate the training period will likely begin in mid-April but that is subject to change.

EXECUTIONAL MANDATORIES:

  • MUST be available to respond promptly to client and community questions. Many Tongal clients are in one of the four U.S. time zones, however, there may be international clients.
  • MUST be willing to work for $750 per completed project. Projects typically run about 6-8 weeks, and will typically require about 20-30 hours of total time.
  • MUST be willing to work for $750 during the 4-5 week training period.

The Tongal team will carefully consider each application submitted for the role of Community Creative Producer, however, we cannot guarantee the selection of one or more applicants as a result of this project, and will retain the right to close the project at any time without making a definitive decision.

This project is to find independent contractors to assist with Tongal as a Community Creative Producer. Nothing in this project is intended or should be construed as potentially creating an employment position with Tongal. The position described by this project is NOT an employment position.

Know someone who might be a great fit? Refer them! You’ll earn $100 for each referral that’s brought on as an independent contractor or gets the greenlight in any Tongal project for the first time. You can generate your referral code under the 'Invite A Friend' section on our referrals page.

Tongal has long believed in the idea that access to opportunities shouldn’t be determined by your zip code or who you know – your talent and drive should play the biggest role in your success. As remote work continues to become a necessary mainstay of our world economy, Tongal is passionate about creating even more opportunities for our community.

For this brief, we are looking to hire several independent contractors as Community Creative Producers to manage Tongal video projects from start to finish. Below, we’ve outlined the main responsibilities of the Community Creative Producer role:

  • Manage a set of projects by leveraging the unique Tongal crowdsourcing process and technology platform.
  • Help craft “creative challenge briefs” to translate a client’s key communication objectives into engaging community-facing briefs on Tongal.com, in order to generate excitement, encourage participation, and deliver results that reflect the client’s needs.
  • Create project timelines, and ensure that clients and filmmakers meet their respective deadlines.
  • Architect project pages on the website using Tongal’s propriety software and technology.
  • Promptly respond to requests by clients, filmmakers, and other members of the Tongal community, via email, Tongal.com, and project forums.
  • Facilitate communication between clients and filmmakers in the Tongal creative community, including the delivery of creative notes to ensure everyone is “on the same page” during development and production.
  • Coordinate the curation of a filmmaker pitches, pre-production materials, and post-production video edits with a critical, creative, and inspired eye, through the lens of YouTube best practices.
  • Coordinate product shipments and asset deliveries to Tongal filmmakers when necessary.

In order to be considered for this position, you must include the below materials in your pitch submission.

  • NAME/TITLE (REQUIRED): Use up to 50 characters to give us your name and/or tell us how you'd like to present yourself.

  • APPLICATION (REQUIRED): 500 characters or fewer synopsizing your knowledge and experience with the Tongal platform, professional background and why you’d be a great fit for the Community Creative Producer role.

  • RESUME (REQUIRED): Yup, we still want to know your credentials, so give us that resume.

  • PITCH VIDEO (Optional -- but highly recommended): This is your opportunity to be face-to-face with the Tongal team and show us what you're capable of. Consider submitting a pitch video in which you tell us why you’d be a great fit for the role. For some examples of effective pitch videos, check out this gallery. All pitches will remain private.

The submitters of the most compelling pitches may be asked to move forward into a video interview round with the Tongal team, via Google Meet, before a final decision is made.

In the event you are brought on to the Tongal team as a Community Creative Producer, we will provide you with an independent contract agreement for signing. It will be for $750 per completed project, and $750 for the training period.

1. Community Creative Producers will not be entitled to any of the benefits that Tongal may make available to its employees, including, but not limited to, group health or life insurance, profit-sharing or retirement benefits. Because Community Creative Producers are independent contractors, Tongal will not withhold or make payments for social security, make unemployment insurance or disability insurance contributions, or obtain workers’ compensation insurance.

2. Submissions must be in the English language or subtitled.

3. Limit 1 submission per member.

4. You must be at least eighteen (18) years or older to enter.

5. Tongal reserves the right to repost the contest.

6. In addition to the judging criteria stated in the OFFICIAL RULES, Pitches will also be evaluated on that member's ability to fulfill the role based on past work experience.

7. See OFFICIAL RULES for additional contest information, terms and conditions. If there is any conflict or inconsistency between these requirements and the Official Rules, the terms and conditions of these requirements shall prevail.
