Using existing assets, create a collection of short videos and static images for digital billboards and large scale building wraps across Los Angeles, and help generate excitement for the 2024 Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum.
*This is an expedited timeline with all final files due by 12/18*
The Clash at the Coliseum is once again coming to Los Angeles, and it's the epic party that everyone is invited to. This event is unlike any other NASCAR event, and it epitomizes the bold new direction the sport is heading. It's more than just a race, it's an experience unlike any other NASCAR event - with musical performers and celebrity sightings throughout the day. Plus, the stars of the NASCAR Mexico Series will start the action with King Taco La Batalla (The Battle) as a salute to Los Angeles. This will be the third time that the iconic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum has been transformed into a custom built racetrack, and since it's only a few months away, NASCAR is looking to generate excitement for the race and convince those local to the Los Angeles area to purchase their tickets now before it's too late. To do that, we're going BIG, and hyperlocal, with content that will live IRL on digital displays, billboards, and building walls across Los Angeles.
The goal of this project is to utilize some of NASCAR's existing assets to create a diversified suite of captivating videos and static images that can be featured on different types of "out of home" displays (like digital billboards) to promote buying tickets for the upcoming racing event. There's a total of 20 unique deliverables here - 15 videos, 5 statics - but this number is a reflection of the fact that we'll be creating content for several different types of displays and formats, and many of the assets that you deliver will simply be reformatted versions of a singular creative approach. The displays are all large format, and they're located everywhere from Hollywood to Southgate, Lynwood, and Huntington Park, and there's even a handful of assets needed for LA Kings games, using Crypto.com's jumbotron and in-arena displays. For the full list of where the final assets will be displayed and the exact specs for each asset, make sure to check out the Deliverables Sheet.
Creatively, this will require a mix of smart editing, dynamic graphic design, and tactful copywriting. The displays should feel fun, exciting, and celebratory while prompting viewers to purchase tickets for the event. There's a large library of assets - photos, graphics, and videos - that you'll be able to leverage to create the content, and they should be the key drivers or cars for all visuals, but graphics and text will need to reinforce that imagery. Though text is important, we're NOT looking for taglines or clever one liners, and these should be very light on actual copy. Any copy should be small, direct pushes about buying tickets or getting ready for the race. Video content may look more like "cinemagraphs" in some cases, but either way, it should incorporate motion graphics or sleek cuts to help catch a viewer's eye, especially because there's NO audio involved.
NASCAR is open to having you use hero images of their top drivers (Ryan Blaney, Chase Elliott, Bubba Wallace, Denny Hamlin and Ross Chastain), and you should consider ways to mix logos and design elements in with footage of on track action, or visuals of the iconic venue. You should make sure to prioritize usage of nighttime shots and the cars racing under the lights whenever possible since the race next year will be at night. We're also open to some form of animation, if appropriate, so get creative and wow us with your designs! For the Hispanic consumer videos, you will need to specifically highlight the Mexico Series race and lean into that styling with applicable logos and guidelines.
Tactically, not every display has to have a completely different design, but you'll still need a number of different executions to ensure that you're not just plastering the same creative all over Los Angeles - and this is especially true in locations where two displays are in close proximity to each other (i.e. the 3106 & 3107 displays). We can work with you in pre-production to determine which creative executions can be used across multiple assets. Your treatment should lay out how you would plan to execute the assets for each location, and NASCAR is excited by what you may come up with, so feel free to throw in a few different creative options too; that way NASCAR can pivot if they are really liking a style from your past work, but aren't in love with your primary creative approach.
