Chicagoland Chamberlain University Campus Photo & Video Shoot Project
Pitch
04/10/26 - 05/27/26

Capture polished campus photography and b-roll across the three Chicagoland Chamberlain University locations, featuring diverse student talent in authentic learning, support, and campus-life scenarios.

As the #1 largest nursing school in the United States, Chamberlain University is committed to helping students around the country answer the call to care for others. They offer an education that's rooted in personalized support and real-world experience, with a community built around individuals that share a passion for healthcare and a desire to make a difference. Chamberlain provides students with many different paths to fit education in their lives, and one of the ways they do that is by operating more than 20 campuses across 15 different states. This is a game changer for many prospective students, and Chamberlain wants to help make it easier for them to say "I can see myself there!" by expanding their library of campus-specific photography and video b-roll, capturing content that represents both the facilities themselves, and some aspects of student life on campus. They'll start with three campuses in the Chicago metropolitan area.

For this project, we’re looking for a small but highly organized team of 2 or 3 people that can shoot raw photography and video b-roll at three different Chicagoland Chamberlain University campuses in May. This will involve a mix of facilities visuals and student lifestyle visuals, and you'll work with real staff and real students - not actors - to bring it to life. It's an opportunity to move beyond generic, staged healthcare imagery and instead capture authentic, action-oriented moments that reflect the real, lived experience of being on a Chamberlain campus. If selected, you'll lead production from start to finish, while also developing a creative lookbook, style guide, and technical specifications that shape the visual tone, composition, and storytelling approach for Chamberlain's other campuses. Your work will serve as the foundation for the broader campaign, so we’re looking for teams who can think both creatively and systemically. Ultimately, no post-production retouching or editing is required, so you'll be wrapped after delivering hard drives with all of the raw assets.

In terms of the creative execution, the goal is to create a library of visuals that feels grounded, welcoming, and emotionally true - content that prospective students can connect with immediately. We want to do that by capturing a lot of the "in-between moments" that will help showcase the energy and humanity around the campus, like students arriving and finding their rhythm, collaborating in small groups, engaging with instructors, and supporting one another through meaningful, everyday interactions. We'll also need to intentionally capture both wide establishing imagery, and tighter, detail-driven moments so the final library performs across multiple formats and platforms. Compositionally, you'll need to build in negative space and flexible framing to support common crops and text overlays, making the content more useful long after the initial shoot. You'll find more detailed shot list guidance in the Background.

In terms of production logistics, we're expecting a small crew of 2 or 3 at most, with a tech scout for each campus, and a single day of production. Before the shoot, you'll work with Tongal, Chamberlain's brand team, and local campus representatives to build out a shot list and shoot schedule for each campus, which will reflect the local character and include some student lifestyle and activities moments. You'll need to shoot video in 4K at 16x9, and we'd recommend a gimbal or some other camera stabilizer that'll allow you to incorporate more dynamic movement. Some lighting equipment is going to be helpful, but there's no need for audio capture here, and agility is key, so we do still expect a small crew footprint. Although you will not need to cast any talent, you will be required to collect talent releases from any staff or students that are visible in the content. These talent releases will be provided to you. During the shoot, members of Chamberlain's brand marketing team will be present to help with the campus representatives, and address provide quick reviews and approvals on the creative. It's not expected that you'll provide a video village or remote viewing setup, however.

Chamberlain is also interested in drone photography, While not currently confirmed, there is a possibility that the scope may expand to include overhead drone footage. It's not necessary that you be able to shoot that yourself, but we'd ask that you provide an option with your pitch, inclusive of the cost of the drone operator and any local permitting, as they’d like to understand that pricing upfront.

Note that you do not need to be based in the Chicago area to pitch on this project, but no additional budget for travel or accommodations will be provided. For any questions or other project updates, check out the Project Forum.

DELIVERABLES: A hard drive with all organized raw footage and photography assets.

EXPECTED TIMELINE: HERE

EXPOSURE: We expect content that will be used on the platforms below, but usage is not limited to these platforms, and a full buyout in perpetuity is required for all content.

  • Chamberlain's website and owned channels
  • Meta, LinkedIn, and other paid social ads
  • Digital Display Ads and OOH placements
  • Email marketing
  • Connected TVs

TARGET AUDIENCE:

  • The primary audience is prospective nursing students who are evaluating local educational options, and trying to picture what their daily life, support, and environment could look like at Chamberlain.
  • The secondary audiences are:
    • Parents & supporters who influence decision-making and value safety, credibility, and visible support structures.
    • Career changers who need reassurance that the environment feels welcoming and doable.

TONE/FEEL: Bright, inviting, authentic, modern, and human - more relatable and dynamic than the “sterile stock healthcare” imagery that you might otherwise see. The imagery should communicate the key brand takeaway that the campus feels real, supportive, credible, and within reach.

EXECUTIONAL MANDATORIES:

  • Avoid the common visual traps: overly posed “smiling at camera” healthcare imagery, flat lighting, or scenes dominated by a blue-and-white clinical feel.
  • Lean into dramatic, dimensional light, human interaction, and a broader color palette to create imagery that feels more cinematic, credible, and emotionally resonant while still being highly functional for performance marketing.
  • Keep in mind that no recognizable apparel brands should be visible on clothing or shoes, so think about how you can conceal logos if they're present (e.g. a different angle, a piece of tape, a handbag strap, a jacket) so we can avoid having to blur in post.
  • Some campus signage may be an issue to capture from a rights perspective so may need to navigate around or avoid some wall signage in shots.
  • You must have proper insurance coverage, in general and for the drone, if the drone is included.

AI USAGE: For the purposes of your pitch and pre-production materials, you are welcome to use generative AI to create visuals, storyboards, proofs-of-concept, etc. that might help the Sponsor understand your vision for capturing the final content. Please keep record of any AI usage deployed in your submissions in the event that the Sponsor requests AI disclosures. If you have questions about any specific usage or tool, please ask your Tongal producer.

By participating in this project, creators acknowledge that the Sponsor is under no obligation to greenlight a submission. Though most projects do move forward, we'll notify you in the event the Sponsor decides not to fund any submissions via the Project Forum. Regardless of the result, all submissions will be reviewed and evaluated by the Sponsor and project team.

Hi everyone - The Sponsor has decided not to move forward with a Pitch on this project. Though most Projects do move forward with a selected Pitch, we will always notify you in the event the Sponsor has decided not to move forward. Please note that regardless of the results, all submissions are reviewed and evaluated by the Sponsor and the Project Team. We sincerely appreciate your time and effort on this project.

In order to be considered, include the below materials in your submission. For examples of effective pitches, check out this gallery. All Pitches remain private, even after a Pitch is selected, and Tongal strives to have Pitch selections made by the end of the Evaluation period, but additional time may be required by the Sponsor, depending on any number of factors. Unless specifically requested, there's no need to include a budget with your submission.

  • TEXT (REQUIRED): Up to 500 characters synopsizing how you plan to approach and produce the content listed in the Deliverables.

  • TREATMENT (REQUIRED): A more detailed and specific description of how you propose to execute all of the content listed out in the Deliverables. Explain what we can expect to see, and how you'll make it. If it's helpful, we've provided a treatment template HERE.

  • DRONE OPERATOR & COST (REQUIRED): Please include information for an optional drone operator and the costs associated with that, inclusive of the operator/team and any local permitting that may be required.

  • LINKS (REQUIRED): To your previous photo and video work. Please specify your role (producer, director, editor, artist, etc.) but do not include links to your showreel. Please link to individual videos or photo galleries.

  • PITCH VIDEO (Optional): This is your opportunity to be face-to-face with the Sponsor and show what you're capable of. Consider a video in which you tell the Sponsor what they can expect, or consider test videos, proof-of-concept edits, animatics, etc. For examples of effective Pitch videos, check out this gallery.

The most compelling pitch will be greenlit by the Sponsor, and the responsible creator will then receive an email from Tongal producers detailing next steps. All submitters will also receive an automated email notification that a selection has been announced. To ensure you’re receiving project updates, review your email settings to check that you haven’t unsubscribed.

Creators who’ve been selected will receive funding upon completing the Winner Affidavit and the IP Assignment. Payment of the pitch funds is subject to a payment schedule determined by Tongal, typically included with the project timeline.

PRE-PRODUCTION BIBLE & APPROVALS: Prior to the commencement of actual production, creators MUST prepare a singular pre-production "bible" document with the elements contained below, and that document MUST receive final approval from the Sponsor. We recommend that you use the bible template we provide HERE, or something very similar. The bible can be presented in stages as different elements are ready for review (i.e. it's not expected that storyboards, if required, are ready with your first draft). Apart from the below, you're also welcome to include other key items that you think would be helpful to communicate your plan (e.g. moodboards, lighting, music, shot list, etc.).

Note that there may be multiple rounds of feedback until elements are approved, and if you begin production before you have received final approval, you may need to reshoot or reanimate at your own expense.

  • TREATMENT / SHOTLIST Describe how you plan to execute the content, and how you plan to bring it to life visually. Feel free to use concept art, references, style frames, or mock-ups. If relevant, share additional information about your team, and your process.

For convenience, we've provided some helpful templates that you can consider using for pre-production materials, and they can all be accessed here.
