Create energetic social videos to encourage NASCAR fans to purchase tickets for the 2024 Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum in Los Angeles as a holiday present for loved ones.
*This is an fast-moving timeline and all final files are due by 11/20*
The Clash at the Coliseum is once again coming to Los Angeles, and it's the epic party that everyone is invited to. This event is unlike any other NASCAR event, and it epitomizes the bold new direction the sport is heading. The upcoming race will be the third time that the iconic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum has been transformed into a custom built racetrack, and since it's only a few months away, NASCAR is looking to generate excitement for the race and convince viewers that race tickets are the perfect gift for friends and family this holiday season.
The goal of this project then is to produce two different short social videos – :15 or less – that promote buying tickets for the race, and frame tickets as the perfect holiday gift. The first video's messaging should be pretty straightforward to that effect, and focus purely on the event, but the second video should also highlight how those traveling from out of town also get the experience of visiting Los Angeles. Ultimately, we want this to feel like event-ized: it's more than just a race, it's an experience unlike any other NASCAR event. We want to attract a younger and more diverse crowd, and provide an epic introduction to those who may be attending their first NASCAR race. There will be musical performers and celebrity sightings throughout the day, which might also be something you can hint at. Plus, the stars of the NASCAR Mexico Series will start the action with King Taco La Batalla (The Battle) as a salute to Los Angeles.
Creatively, we are looking for videos that feel authentic and social first; otherwise these are very open-ended, and we'd encourage editors, animators, and live action filmmakers alike to pitch. If it's helpful, the NASCAR team has even provided some assets - graphics and videos - that you can use in your videos, but you can also use relevant content from previous NASCAR races if you find something worthy on YouTube. Lean into social tropes, memes, trendy sounds and catchy editing or unique transition techniques. These videos will primarily live on NASCAR's Instagram, but they may also be used on TikTok and Facebook, so look at relevant social trends and think about the ways you can use stickers, text, or other native social features to make your video stand out.
Your two videos should be attention grabbing, while showcasing how attending a NASCAR event, especially this one, is an experience like no other. It's not necessary that the entirety of your videos are holiday-themed, but the holiday gifting element is important, whether you're literally seeing a gift, or merely using gifting as a messaging framework. Since this race is also sponsored by Busch Light, you're welcome to include or reference their products within your video, although you should NOT show consumption of any Busch Light.
As a thought starter, you could create a custom gift box that you jump out of, decked out in NASCAR apparel, to surprise your family with tickets to the race; or have Santa race to your parent's house to deliver the tickets; or film selfie-style, planning out an epic surprise road trip to take your best friend to LA for the ultimate racing event; or even mix together motion graphics and footage from last years race to create a grand trailer to tease the new race. Plus, if you do happen to live in the LA area, we could even arrange access for you to film your video at the Coliseum!
