Using provided clips from BritBox, create a short, celebratory social video that captures the joy of summer and school getting out – but with a decidedly British twist.

*This is a quick turn editing project with a final delivery of 6/13*

BritBox's latest campaign, See It Differently, is all about reframing familiar stories and characters in new perspectives, celebrating hidden gems, leaning into surprising juxtapositions, and captivating the audience with something that resonates. As part of this campaign they have started a series called “Mini Masterpieces," which are sharp, unexpected social video edits that pull clips from various BritBox titles to illustrate a theme, such as "See ‘Weather’ Differently," or "See ‘Mothers’ Differently." For their next "Mini Masterpiece," BritBox wants to create a social video that celebrates the start of summer.

Using clips provided by BritBox, you'll create a joyful and upbeat :30 social video that channels the giddy energy of freedom, fun, and warm weather – but with a recognizably British twist. Think about classic British summer moments like over-the-top sunburns, picnics, pub gardens, and dramatic weather changes. Using a distinctly British lens, this Mini Masterpiece video should connect with audiences far beyond the shows themselves, stringing together relatable and humorous clips that scream "it's summer!" You should also be sure to weave in "end-of-school" vibes, perhaps with shots of teachers finally exhaling, kids running wild, getting ready for vacation, and parents bracing themselves for a few months of 24/7 parenting. You'll find some footage from relevant Britbox series in the Assets down below, and while you do not need to use clips from every series, you should plan to combine footage from at least 5 different series. To see a full list of series that you can pull from, look to the Background.

Using these BritBox assets, you can feature soundbites, visual gags, and unmistakably British moments (quippy lines, emotional repression, and deliciously dry humor). However, we are not looking for you to just throw a bunch of clips together; instead, your video should have a clear arc or tonal build that leans into the comedy or quick wit with a purpose. This is primarily a supercut of shows, but you can add light motion graphics or on-screen text if it feels fitting to your edit. Consider adding clips of dialogue that reference summer themes and help connect your clips together so that it feels like a cohesive story.

Note that you will need to edit within the Adobe Suite as the BritBox team works primarily in Adobe and may need to update logos or end cards later. While your video will focus on summer themes, it is part of the broader "Mini Masterpieces" series (see another "Mondays" example here), and should ultimately make viewers want to binge BritBox.

EXECUTIONAL MANDATORIES:

  • Your videos MUST be edited within the Adobe Suite.

MINI MASTERPIECES

A way to showcase BritBox’s depth and breadth of content, but also those who know it well.  What can we do that presents old favorites and a new light and introduces new favorites to those watching?  How can we elevate the unknown to the familiar, and the familiar into the spectacular?

These need to be engaging, feel organic, and grab people’s attention. They should feel like they were crafted for entertainment vs being a straight marketing play.  They should be funny, or relatable, or evoke an emotional response.

Challenges:

  • For streamers/networks, the best performing clips are usually straight show clips and anything live and featuring the cast.
  • How can we create something that pulls people in?
